I can only remember "fantastic" from the first series. This series has too many and too frequent.

Obviously, but the rest of the references are more subtle... Did you notice the helicopter call sign at first? Or the "Bad Wolf TV" in "The Long Game", it spray painted on the wall in "Fathers Day", in German on the bomb in The Doctor Dances... If you did I take my hat off to you, but I wasnt that observant first time around until it was pointed out, either by the Doctor in Boom Town, or the various websites
I remember Bad Wolf Tv very well, and I saw it spray painted on another wall in a different episode (and no, not the last one). I don't remember it being in German but I noticed at least two of those more subtle references.

According to Wikipedia, Satan was a synonym for Sutekh the Destroyer, who was defeated by the Fourth Doctor and trapped in a time tunnel for thousands of years. And the person who voiced Sutekh is apparently the person voicing the Beast in these episodes... Does anyone remember if Sutekh was one of the names the beast said he was known as?
Erm, no. I'm not very up to date with the original old episodes. I wished I'd seen this earlier though. It repeated today on BBC Three. I could have checked if I'd known this information.

But omg, I never look at the emoticons, and have never noticed this...

Has anyone checked out the Doctor Who website this week? Its well scary, the beast looks absolutely terrifying! The Fear Factor (all the kids gave it a 5) says "Children are warned that some adults have found this episode especially frightening. Get ready to hold your parents' hands if they get too scared..." Classic!

Suteck seems to be very Egyptian, if you look at photos of him. Plus, he is supposedly dead (like thats an obstacle in Doctor Who... How many times did Davros come back from the supposed dead?)
I don't think Sutekh is dead, he was only trapped in a time tunnel by the 4th Doctor. Supposedly longer then his lifespan but yeah........

It's the seventh image down.
I don't believe I missed that.
Also, I noticed something...

See the episode name for the last episode? Doomsday. Perhaps, God *IS* the series buzzword after all.

'Doomsday' could mean anything, though...

You missed the Beast appearing in the hologram? I thought it was fairly obvious... It was only for a moment, though.
Yup, I missed it completely.

Why the long farewell to Jeffereson when they just ignore the other two crew members deaths, though?

I didn't expect the beast to be so big. Smart.

And at last! Peter Kay episode next week! *glee*

[/VGCats reference]
EDIT: Seriously, the next episode looks crap. What's with all the celebrity cash-ins this series? I mean, Peter Kay? Bloody Peter Kay? And that guy from Hustle only has one method of acting.
Fuck Peter Kay!!

Well, that was good.
Why the long farewell to Jeffereson when they just ignore the other two crew members deaths, though?
Cause the others (apart from Toby) were Redshirts

And is it just me or are the directors and scriptwriters completely full of themselves?

Regarding tonight's episode, it was bound to happen sooner or later - the first really god awful Doctor Who episode of the 'new generation'.

Also, next week... A WHOLE SIX YEARS INTO THE FUTURE. ON EARTH. AGAIN. WITH LIVING PICTURES. You know, like bloody PENNY CRAYON.
...It's almost a purely kid's show now, not a family show. Except for the occasional episode that's... Not. Like the Satan episode and the werewolf episode. It's like it has no idea what it's meant to be, and that some writers have completely different ideas from others.

The first was all about developing the characters. Every episode built upon the previous, and all of them lead up to the finale. It was also good in that it revisited previous episode locations or alluded to past events because it made the series one giant plotline.
This series isn't doing that. It is regarding Torchwood, but that's too small a hook. I imagine the series finale will be very good (it's all about Torchwood), but a few of the episodes are made pointless in the overall scheme. Since we know absolutely everything about Rose, Mickey, Jackie, all that's left for this series is introducing the new personality of the new Doctor. And that was accomplished within the Christmas special and New Earth. What's left? Fillers. Random bad guy aliens that reference Torchwood and then meet their end.
Billie leaving will be excellent for the next series as it gives it something stronger to build the series around.

My God, it sucked, and I don't like the premise for the next episode either.
No doubt, the writers will find some smug artsy, smarmy psuedo-justification for the next episode that'll make me want to puke my guts out.

Of course, it could turn out to be shocking! I watched the Cyberman episode again today (was repeated on BBC 3) and I really enjoyed it, even though it was 2nd time around. Then again, I am a bit of a kid at heart

I think they kinda screwed up by having the struggle against Satan so soon. Now that would have made a great finale! The Doctor defeats the Devil!

...The next episode is taking it's premise from bloody PENNY CRAYON for heck's sake. Argh. It's only gonna be worse. Bring back the Daleks instead of 'random alien of the week'.

Also, saturdays episode I rather liked, the Hustle guy wasn't annoying (gives me hope considering he's the lead in a tv adaption of a Pratchett book) and the alien was funny because he had a northern accent. It had some stupid bits in it, but overall it was okay. Well, until Tennant turned up of course, with his smart-alec one liners and overexcited demeanour. Come to think of it, that's probably why I liked the episode, he was hardly in it.
