Tennant is great. I much prefer his excentricism over Eccleston's. Though I did like Chris, I find it's easier to warm to David, plus the costume is much better!

Anyway, this episode. I quite enjoyed it, though my parents think it's not as good as last season.
If they had the cure to every disease the people had already, why did they bother keeping them?

And yes, wonderful show by Tennant!

Hmmmm.... maybe they needed them to keep on producing more of the same cures? If they had the cure to every disease the people had already, why did they bother keeping them?
An attempt at explaining Doctor Who logic! XD

I don't know, but this series started off pretty well, I guess.

It's not really a spoiler as it's only conjecture at this point.
Red phone box shown at the start of New Earth could be another TARDIS.

We'll have to make sure to look through the next episode for a red phone box to see if this rumour is credible.
Though if it IS another TARDIS there's no reason for it to stay as a red phone box. The only reason The Doctor's TARDIS is a police box is because it's broken.

I loved the new episode! Bring on Saturday nights! Especially next Saturday with Sarah Jane Smith and K-9, and the Cybermen later on!

I loved it and I'm liking the Tenth Doctor's personality and how he interacts with everyone, especially when they p*** him off. I enjoy how Tennant plays him and the quip about the butlers being all bald and athletic. The Royals are werewolves eh? Explains a few things...
BTW is it just me or did the idea of Torchwood feel a tad contrived? What with Queen Vic setting up an organisation knowing exactly what they'd do, and just happened to turn around and find the name so conveniently at the castles front door?

Weren't you paying attention? She set it up specifically because of the strange things her husband talked about, which turned out to be true. Queen Victoria felt threatened, so she decided to set up the Institute to investigate such things. She named it Torchwood in memory of Sir Robert and his father. That was the bit that wasn't contrived.
The bit that was contrived was how Rose spent the entire episode "naked". Surely, the maid would have said something like, "You're not going out dressed like that, are you?"

It's reported that the Torchwood Victoria started is not necessarily the same one that features in the spin-off series of the same name by the way.

What? Unless the come up with something clever and subtle, that's a bit weird.

Victorian Torchwood we know is not a fan of the 10th Doctor.
Christmas Invasion Torchwood doesn't care about the 10th Doctor, it was focussed on the Sycorax.
Captain Jack Harkness becomes the head (or a department head) of a future Torchwood.
In Bad Wolf, Torchwood is a question on The Weakest Link where it is said to be now closed down BUT knowledge of the institute is no longer secret.
Jack would hardly be in charge of an institute bent on defending against the Doctor, so this Torchwood would probably be different to the Victorian one.
However, with the Christmas Invasion, the Royal family was on the roof and therefore not in contact with Torchwood whilst Harriet Jones is directing things and in full knowledge of the Doctor. So this Torchwood could be the same as the Victorian one.
Yay for continuity! o.o

The word "Torchwood" first occurred in the 2005 Doctor Who episode Bad Wolf, during a deadly version of the game show, The Weakest Link. One of the answers was that the Great Cobalt Pyramid was built on the ruins of the famous Old Earth Torchwood Institute. On the Doctor Who homepage for the week preceding, one of the contestants (Strood) is said to be from "Torchwood".
Also, there is now a website online, www.visittorchwood.co.uk; it is possible the reference in Bad Wolf is to the house. Apparently though, in the commentary for The Christmas Invasion, Torchwood is linked to the rift in Cardiff somehow...
Excitement, if you watch the TARDISODE for this weeks episode, Micky tries to hack into a military website and finds it is blocked by Torchwood.
What I am intrigued by is, if Queen Victoria set up Torchwood and says it will be waiting for the Doctor, what are they doing during the era of the 3rd Doctor when he is exiled by the Time Lords and assists UNIT on Earth (specifically he is based in Britain)?

What exactly did the werewolf say to Rose? (I have this feeling it might be some foreshadowing of episodes to come).

On a side note my Mum keeps talking about how terrifying it is that Billy Piper is actually quite a good actress.

"Seen what?"
"There is something of the wolf about you."
"I don't know what you mean."
"You burnt like the Sun, but all I require is the Moon."
Yeah, I was wondering that. It might be that Victorian Torchwood is looking for a Doctor James McCrimmon who looks like David Tennant, whereas Doctor John Smith in the form of Jon Pertwee can move around freely among UNIT.What I am intrigued by is, if Queen Victoria set up Torchwood and says it will be waiting for the Doctor, what are they doing during the era of the 3rd Doctor when he is exiled by the Time Lords and assists UNIT on Earth (specifically he is based in Britain)?
Also, UNIT was part of the United Nations, wasn't it? Torchwood is purely British.

As for the wolf thing, Bad Wolf was chosen by the Tardis-Rose entity, but we do not know why, hopefuly this may build into something this series.

Goodness knows, although I remember that I was disturbed at one point in this episode and missed what the werewolf said about Rose. He was saying something about her eyes or her having seen or been somewhere near something not of the Earth or something close to his race...
What exactly did the werewolf say to Rose? (I have this feeling it might be some foreshadowing of episodes to come).
That was the first Bad Wolf reference of this series, he said he saw something of the wolf in her (c.f. Gwyneth: "The darkness, the big bad wolf!" or Rose herself (while under the influence of the Time Vortex): "I am the Bad Wolf. I create myself..."
Also, the 9th Doctor (to Rose, while she was under the influence of the Time Vortex): "Rose, you're going to burn!" (hence the Werewolf's comment about her burning like the Sun)
Interesting to note is that Rose (during the regeneration scene anyway) had no recollection of her intaking the Time Vortex to defeat the Daleks; indeed she wasnt even sure where she was to begin with... Hence she probably didnt have a clue what the Werewolf was on about, unless the Doctor filled her in behind the scenes and she was lying
