That spoiler is true.

I can't make my mind up whether Torchwood is this year's Bad Wolf, or merely a new Satellite Five (in terms of it's re-use).

Maybe it's just me but the word, god, has been mentioned in every episode so far in some form or another. It's too early to tell but keep your eyes peeled out for its mention.

It's looking pretty clear that Torchwood is going to pop up in each episdoe in form or another. Though how they'll get it into this week's episode, I don't know. Is it me, or does the upcoming episode look crap?

You're right about the god thing though. I think they're playing on how the Doctor is only answerable to himself to eventually bring back the Time Lords because then there is a higher authority.

Also, the happy-go-lucky atitiude of Rose and the Doctor looks set to be punished. I'm going for a main character death. Micky maybe?

Rumours are that Mickey is going to be left behind in the Cybermen episode...

I am quite looking forward to this weeks episode, apart from the fact that it has Sophia Myles who I love, it was written by Steve Moffat, i.e. the one who wrote The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. Ace!

Yes, very. And I don't remember Torchwood being mentioned in the first episode of this season.

That was a good episode I thought. Usually some people think a couple(Tennant and Myles, if i've got it right) who work on a show together is bad but I think they pulled it off here, especially with the (how do you say) recurring plot (?) of the Doctor's age, his loneliness (did Reinette look into his childhood?) as well as the letter at the end. In fact I loved it.

BTW I want Mickey's t-shirt, guess you don't need to ask why. :D

That's so cool he was wearing a 'Know Your Roots' shirt! XD

The preview clip of this episode certainly didn't do it justice, it was very very good! I think the difference between Tennant and Eccleston is that you can see Tennant loves playing the Doctor. His grin after jumping through the mirror on the horse was great!

Loved this:
"Nah, nothing here. Well, nothing dangerous. Well, not that dangerous. You know what, I'll just have a quick scan. In case there's anything dangerous."

I loved it when he was pretending to be drunk, and his glee at finding out what those robots were! (Didn't catch the name.)

What time did the episode start exactly? I switched over at 7.05 but it felt like it was halfway (my impression).

Next episode looks really good for obvious reasons.

Started at 7, so you may not have caught my quote as that was right after the opening titles.

He also found the werewolf 'beautiful' didn't he? New catchphrase?

It's weird, you see the publicity photos for teh Cybermen but to me they still looked creepy in the preview!

Unfortunately I didn't catch that quote but I do like how turns into a little boy when comes across well, werewolves for example. Yep, 'beautiful' has the potential for a good catchphrase!

Maybe I was wrong about that "God" thing being the new Bad Wolf. (The closest thing to God being mentioned was Angel). Although, there is a lot of emphasis on the Doctor being lonely.

This episode didn't turn out to be so bad after all.

Spoiler : click to show/hide
The horse jumping through the mirror was the most impressive scene in the Doctor Who series so far.

What? Are they trying to set up the Doctor and Rose as an item?

P.S. Is anybody worried that Tennant might leave after this season? If Doctors keep leaving every season, then that means only three before the big final farewell. Or maybe that's a good thing...

Seemed to me that he was perfectly happy doing Doctor Who and wasn't leaving anytime soon IIRC. But he was on Totally Doctor Who so I don't know, but from how he acts the role he seemed to be genuinely enjoying it. And both he and Piper have great chemistry.

He's been signed up for at least another season, possibly more. David Tennant wont be in a rush to leave, playing the Doctor was his childhood dream!!

This season is due to end on a major cliffhanger...

Yeah, we're looking at a long-term Doctor with Tennent.

When the 12th regeneration comes, I'm sure they'll invent some reason for the Doctor going beyond it.

Oh yeah, I can see it now. They attach him to a battle suit that keeps him alive for all eternity, not quite alive, not quite dead to suffer for... Wait. That's Dr. Weil from Megaman Zero...

The Time Lords have the ability to grant an extra set of regenerations (e.g. they offered the Master a new cycle of regenerations in "The Five Doctors") so if they do come back...

What an episode! I wasn't too bothered with Rose's story this week (although the bit with the dog was funny, and the dialogue with her 'dad' was nice) Mickey's grabbed me as I found it easier to relate to his being 'the spare part' and also himself and his alternate counterpart's role being central to storyline.
And what a debut form the Cybermen! You see the pictures and the previews but their presence I found was so atmospheric that I did feel 'fear' at one point, I can't wait tilll next week!

On a side note:

Spoiler : click to show/hide
If the rumours are true, that will be a very sad moment as I like and relate to Mickey's character (especially after tonight's episode).

Though Torchwood was mentioned twice in passing, I'd like to mention that the word, "God" was also mentioned. With the exception of last week's episode, this means "God" has been mentioned in all episodes so far.

Spoiler : click to show/hide
The first guy that died really hammed his death scene up. Plus was it just me or did Ricky constantly look constipated?

And the Doctor gave up ten years of his life! Does that matter much?

Couldn't he have recharged it from Rose's mobile phone or something?

So how are they going to get out of the cliffhanger ending... A bit of quick work with the sonic screwdriver?

Nah, not long range enough.

Plus, is it just me or did the Cybermen with their repetitive, "Delete! Delete!" sound like Dr. Wily from Megaman Battle Network?

The Doctor has said before that Time Lords can "Live forever, barring accidents" although maybe he was just exaggerating?

I wish I had a TARDIS, I cannot wait for next week now!

Just had a thought, last time we had a cliffhanger ending where the Doctor was surrounded by baddies, he got out of that sticky situation by telling them to "Go to their room". Somehow I doubt that tactic will work on the Cybermen!
I remember in the radio program "Regenerations" hearing clips of Cybermen speaking, one of whom said something (although in a different sounding voice, maybe it was the Cyber Controller?) like "Ah, it's the Doctor. I see he has regenerated again" or words to those effect. Although they could be the cybermen from Army of Ghosts/Doomsday...

:P

Seeing as these are alternative Earth Cybermen, created by Trigger, does anyone know how 'our' dimension's Cybermen came into being?

It seems they're from Earth's twin planet, Mondas, where the human like inhabitants replaced themselves with cybernetic parts. The first doctor regenerates after they're defeated and Mondas explodes in 1986.

When I was watching the episode I had a sneaking suspicion as to what would happen concerning Mickey, something I failed to point out last time I posted...

Spoiler : click to show/hide
What with Mickey having no grandmother or parents in his own Universe, Ricky might end up dying and Micky might end up replacing him. That way, he stays behind in the alternate Universe, he doesn't have to die, and Rose and the Doctor can bugger off.

P.S. Trigger? Maybe I wasn't paying attention enough but who's Trigger? I thought that guy was called Cybus.

Whoops. My bad. He's not called Cybus, he's called John Lumic. Me and my teabag memory.

And yes, I did see Only Fools and Horses, but I never heard his name being spoken ever.
