I haven't seen any release dates, but it is fun to see the recent action in the European markets when it comes to games. Of course, I'm probably only saying that because of the recent release of Mario Strikers Football. :D
But, yeah. December 31st seems like a fishy date.

Super Paper Mario.

Super fucking Paper Mario.

It's bloody nonexistant over here. I feel like I'm back in the SNES days when SMRPG was never released. Europe is being royally shafted at the moment.

Anyway, on nicer news, the latest update gave me what can only be described as a small orgasm of some kind.
I'll leave it to everyone else to go find out for themselves. No, it's not a new character but it's freakin' awesome anyway.

It's not conclusive, but it certainly suggests Ridley will have a larger role in the game than he did in the previous games.

Whether this is as a playable character or boss or neither remains to be seen.

Europe got that game first because nobody in America cares about soccer.

Also, showsni: The UK version of the Smash Bros. site doesn't have an expected release date posted, whereas the US version of the site says "Planned for 2007." I'll assume you weren't aware of the information on the US page because you probably have had no reason to visit it, but from now on I will reach through the Internet and smack anybody citing IGN before the official source.

Mmmm, good arrangement - then again, with the alls tar cast of composers they've got, it's impossible for this soundtrack not to be awesome.

All it means is that they're finally using a different Metroid theme for the stage - maybe Ridley's a stage hazard, maybe not.

I cited Nintendo's release date, too, though. From their website. It's "TBD." The IGN one is clearly made up, but a man can dream, can't he? A man can dream...

Yeah, it says on the Wikipedia article that the release dates have all yet to be announced. Bloody IGN with their lies and teases...

Wow. They've really made a touch-up to tbe crates and barrels. They change appearance depending on the level, and the crates will slide down hills if they spawn on top of one (the unfortunate sap at the bottom of the hill take damage from the crate). And maybe that's a Photoshop, but I think you can ride the crate down...

No - while they like to put characters in amusing positions in screenshots, they never make them do something they can't do in-game (although a lot of the time you'd need to be seriously lucky to get some of the shots they take, so they obviously set them up rather than spend all day trying to arrange the characters mid-game). It would be impossible for Pikachu to stand in mid-air, so he is indeed standing on the crate.

I expect you can still walk through stationary crates and barrels, but it might be that you can jump on top of them, which would be cool. Or maybe you can't walk through them at all, which would be interesting.

I love the presents and metal crates. And huzzah, they're showing the castle stage again, maybe they'll tell us about it sometime soon then.

And maybe I'm out of the loop, bu I'm quite sure I saw a Space-like stage. Was this announced some time before, or was that the first they showed of it?

*Bangs head on wall*

Watch the Nintendo World Movie, it's right there on the site. It's bloody hard to miss, and if you watched it, it's virtually impossible to miss the Star Fox stage.

In Melee it was possible to push crates and barrels if you moved slow enough against them. It wasn't until you got a good walking/running pace that you ran through the item. I suspect this will stay in Brawl, but it's cool to be able to stand on top of them now.

Except that Masa was being sarcastic. But he was right anyway, despite the sarcasm. If you haven't watched the movies yet, then why the hell are you reading this topic or checking the website? o.o

All the screenshots are new, they're not clips from any trailers. Samus has never been seen in actual gameplay (in her suit, that is) and now she finally is.

And she looks great. For once, Samus' armour looks like actual metal! Despite the fact that her appearance in Melee was a big jump, and to be fair she hadn't exactly had much of a record for appearing in 3D until then, she still didn't translate too well and had a habit of looking somewhat 'plasticy' and not like real metal. Now she does. Shiny shiny! And we might even be able to see her eyes if we got close enough.

I personally don't watch trailers of video games. The very first ones, sure. But clips of video games are... very boring.

Those ARE the very first ones.

And trailers aren't boring only if they're actual trailers. I watch trailers because they're designed by the makers to show glipses of cutscenes and such in a cool fashion, and often use scenes that will never actually appear in the game itself. Take the first E3 video for Brawl... All that cool stuff with the characters appearing and the excellent Snake bit won't be in the actual game because it doesn't make any sense in the context of the game.

What you're thinking of is just video footage of gameplay, which is indeed boring (and also spoilerish), unless well edited.

Edit
Today's update is specially for The Legend of Zelda fans! That means me. And most people here (seriously though, it confuses me how non-Zelda fans are here, but ho hum). Now why wasn't this move in Twilight Princess, eh? I guess Link needs the whole Triforce. Spiffy anyway, and it's nice to see how the move works in gameplay. Dodge the Triforce and you dodge the move. Get hit and you're screwed.

I'm also amused by Sakurai going SKRAAAAH.

In Ocarina of Time, when (adult) Link lands from a high fall and gets hurt, he goes "DIT SHIT".

I'm serious.

Random game trivia - Volt Tackle is the only Final Smash so far that actually has a true basis in a game - it's a secret move that only Pikachu can learn in Emerald, apparently.

But not just that - it originally belonged to Pulseman, the hero of the game of the same name released on the Genesis in Japan by Gamefreak a long time ago.

Witness!

More than a little familiar, yes? It pinballs around wildly. I expect Pikachu's will behave somewhat similar.

Also, since when was Pikachu a crappy character? You're thinking of Pichu.

Pikachu was an awesome character. If only because Thunder was the awesome.

I would have liked for Volt Tackle to look like it does in the anime, but this works too.
