The Dojo is dead, long live the Dojo!

Seriously, it was a great marketing ploy by Nintendo, and for a time it worked, but next time they need to think about it a bit more carefully. Why not have a general NintenDojo, with Mario, Star Fox, Smash Bros, Zelda, Metroid, Wii Fit, Brain Training, etc updates. Microsoft has Major Nelson and the Gamerscore Blog, even Sony has a PS3 blog - where's the Nintendo one?

Excuse me doofuses, but the Dojo was NEVER intended to tell us all the fucking secrets before the game is released. Where the hell did you people get that idea from? The Dojo worked but it's been done before. The Melee website was essentially identical, it was just in Japanese.

For fuck's sake, there's no pleasing some whining people. They want to know EVERY FREAKIN' DETAIL about a game before it's released. Seriously, I do not understand that mentality.

On that note, I'm saying a big YES to what SnowsilverKat said. Keep this topic SPOILER FREE. Anything on the Dojo from now on, and anything leaked by idiots like Scott from VGCats who thinks it's fun to put spoilers on his main page, keep it out of this topic or at least put it in spoiler tags. It's just good manners.

In the meantime, I'm going to be hiding from The Internet for months to avoid all the idiots who read the end of a book before they finish the first chapter and enjoy researching the plot of films before they watch them. Blasted children.

It's called being an informed shopper. Why waste 10 bucks on a movie without knowing if you'll even like it? Why buy a game if, for example, it doesn't contain any of your favorite characters? Why waste ALL that time reading, say, a 1300 page book if you don't even think you'll be satisfied at the end?

There's nothing wrong with being spoiler-free, but there's also nothing wrong with wanting to know about a game. Unless I missed it, nobody here claimed to want to know each and every detail about a game. That's stupid. I don't need to know the exact number of trophies, I just wanna know if Geno is in Brawl. For all you know, that could greatly affect my decision.

Perhaps, if the discussion of spoiled information is inevitable, a new topic labled "SPOILERS!" should be created for this purpose. I highly suggest this to avoid further dissapointment for those that just want to discuss the game's potential, and what we know so far.

I saw Ganondorf and just knew I wouldn't be able to resist anything else, so I proceeded to scroll down. That's all it takes to ruin these things XP

Okay, calm down peeps. Since the game isn't released absolutely everywhere, yes, keep anything the Dojo....hell, the internet reveals that's new in spoiler boxes - it's just polite. Personally, I don't really care about characters and stages being spoiled becuase....it's a fighting game. Seriously. Even so, respect others wishes, so....keep doing what you've been doing. :prime:

That said....March 9th! Get the hell over here already! x_x

I thought the impression was that the Dojo revealed too much information, and that

the number of combatants kept secret is too low. Sonic at least ought to have been left quiet.

Apparently, some Japanese residents can't get the game to boot. It turns out that dust and tabacco pollute the Wii lens. Brawl is one of the few games that is shipped as a dual layer DVD, which makes it much more sensitive when read by the Wii's laser. To overcome this problem Nintendo repairs any bad Wiis free of charge according to the article. Better not put your Wii in polluted air or quit smoking, when the game gets here. ;)

An IGN gameplay video has revealed that Sonic Boom will be an optional soundtrack in Brawl. This game just layered on more win to a cake baked in win.

Sonic CD. The introduction and ending to the game were animated FMVs, and the Sonic Boom song played during them. SSBB is taking the music from the introduction. The game is playable on Sonic Gems Collection for Nintendo Gamecube btw, or you can watch the introduction/ending in Sonic Mega Collection.

Obviously, he's Young Link's replacement. Young Link was just a faster, weaker version of Link and Toon Link is exactly the same.

It's really disappointing that Ganondorf, Falco, Wolf and Toon Link are basically clones. It's even more disappointing that Fox, Falco and Wolf share the same Final Smash attack too. It's cool that Marth is still in though. Toon Link or even Toon Ganondorf would've been good if they were just alternate costumes that became available later on. Vaati would've been a cool addition too as opposed to having two Fox clones and R.O.B.

Well, fan appeal has a large impact on the character roster as much as how they play. One could argue that Olimar shouldn't be in the roster because the necessity for him to pull Pikmin out to attack will prove to be a disadvantage in battle. Of the characters you listed, only one of them do I find to be rather pointless, given that he doesn't have a large fanbase (as far as I am aware). But as for the others, I am happy to see them appear in their current forms. Even if it's just for kicks, the option is welcomed with open arms.

Toon Link has all of Link's attacks, just as Young Link did in Melee. Toon Link is faster and weaker than Link, just as Young Link was in Melee. They're clones alright.

Watching everyone freak out about the game is really quite funny. If you were at Smash Boards during the leak it was like being at the Apocalpyse itself.

Anyway, I actually like what I see. All the characters look like they have potential. I'm actually quite pleased with the characters everyone's so upset about. The platforming in the Subspace Emissary is top notch! It looks clever and challenging. It could easily be a standalone game. The music is stellar, even though I would have liked some more Earthbound/Mother tracks and some tracks I don't really like got in. I know I'm going to have a lot of fun with the stage builder, there's a lot you can do with it. No Castlevania stuff got in, so I'm going to make a Castlevania stage myself. :P

I can't stand it when people get up in arms like that before a game comes out. It was similar with TWW when Nintendo announced they were using the cel-shaded look. At the time I was rather dissappointed that they had switched from a 'realistic' look, but decided to see how it turned out. Other people, though, were sending Nintendo death threats and such...

The game has been released in Japan and IGN have confirmed that the characters I mentioned earlier are more or less clones. It isn't anything worth losing sleep over and it certainly won't render the game an unworthy purchase but I wouldn't say it's a good thing either. However if the Australian release date is later revealed to be something ridiculous like December this year I might develop a twitch.

Cool video!

Some of my observations:
Spoiler : click to show/hide
I'd seen pictures of the platinum-blonde Zelda before, but I always thought they were fan-made; she looks cool, as does Dark Link. Dark Toon Link looks like something out of a horror flick, and white-haired Ganondorf looks, well, old. Rob may be interesting to play with...

The soundtrack of this game is absolutely amazing (if you're a Nintendo-freak, of course), I mean, I NEVER though they would get this one in.

That's probably my favorite Kirby song ever.

Nope, not really. I am stoked about the

Subspace Emissary portion of the game though; I always wished for a story in the first two SSB titles. Nintendo characters uniting to save multiple worlds, what story premise could be better?

The soundtrack is superb for a game; keep up the good work, Nintendo!

Now that the entire soundtrack to the game is available by certain means (I'm not linking it here, but frankly, it's easy enough to find), I can say that this is one of the greatest compilations ever. I mean...damn. Whatever reservations I might have had earlier in this very thread about the sound quality? Forget that, it's awesome and well worth a look. I guess this part'll be in spoilers...

Spoiler : click to show/hide
Personal favorites as of now - though I like almost all of them - are:
The metal remix of the Gourmet Race
The full choral Fire Emblem theme
Ashley's theme
The choral arrangement of the Zelda theme
The SMB3 Flying Fleet Theme
The Mario arrangement that's on the Dojo
Finally getting the aranged Hyrule Field from OoT
Ridley Fight also from the Dojo
The Corneria mix from the first Star Fox ('bout frickin' time)
The Legendary Pokemon battle from D/P

Though hell, they're all awesome just listening too. Kinda getting the vibe that, while he was put in early enouh to make sure his character's good and give him some decent Assist trophies Sonic was put in at the very end sicne there's literally only one remixed track in there - now, I'm getting a kick out of the fact there's frickin' Sonic R songs in there, but, really.

EDIT: And HOLY FREAKIN' CRAP.

Oddly enough, while spoiling a character doesn't phase me in the slightest, spoiling music would simply be a tragedy. Not the titles, I can live with knowing the titles of the music. But when I turn this game on and I hear the orchestrated, choral, or otherwise remixed versions of some of the most epic and memorable songs all in one game, I just know that that feeling is going to be one of the greatest feelings ever. It's be like hearing Mario Galaxy or Twilight Princess music for that first time, times a billion. I can't wait for that feeling.

...By the way, Happy would-have-been-Brawl day. :(

That soundtrack is purely epic.

I love.

Question: Do the Smash Brothers games generally have decent single player like regular fighting games? Because none of my friends are into video games, I'd have no one to properly brawl with in a two player kind of thing. I didn't get Melee because I didn't have a Cube, so I have no idea what single player is like. I only played about five minutes as Sheik with my cousins.

Aye, Brawl has both the regular Classic Mode from the past two games (Fight 8 guys with random bonus stages thrown in here and there before the sub-boss and Final Boss), and the new story mode that has sidescrolling levels along with the fights and such. Though hell, the game itself is fun even just playing against the computer, though obviously don't go into it expecting Virtua Fighter.
