Plus, Zelda changes her eye color, hair length, skin tone, eyebrow shape, and apparently her muscle build, so it wouldn't make sense to not go all the way and just become a male since she's disguised as one.

That's akin to a girl putting on false contacts, cutting her hair, putting on fake tan, drawing on/plucking her brows, and bulking up. And if trying to hide from oblivion, most girls probably wouldn't mind that.

...But you aren't going to find many willing to have a sex change operation. Switching your vagina for a penis tends to be more disturbing than putting on fake tan.

For Zelda yaoi, you're just better off with LinkxGanondorf. Kinkier sounding, that's for sure.

It's not quite the same as those things, since she does it magically and instantly, as seen when she reveals herself to link. Because the Sheikah are a different race, it's more likely that she actually turns herself into a Sheikah male than transforming into a Sheikah female and binding her chest to look like a guy... And how are we supposed to judge whether Zelda would be willing to change her sex? XP The Sailor Starlights in Sailor Moon didn't have a problem with it, at least in the anime.

Yeah, too kinky for me. 9_9 I can't think of a situation where it would ever be consensual. Not to mention, it brings up bad memories.

For scary perversions of my favorite video game? Alright then, that would make a difference.

Still Zelda in disguise, though.

Given that (afaik) her clothing changes with the rest of the outfit, it would not be a far stretch to say that binding is also included in the outfit.

It is still kind of the same thing. The premise is the same. The magic just makes it 'instant'.

I don't... follow the logic. They're still essentially hum-- er, elves. It's just a race. If I'm a white girl, it makes more sense to turn into a black man rather than a black woman? I think I'd rather tie down my chest. It's a classic move from literature and media. That seems most logical.

Also, everyone from Sailor Moon is crazy.

Sorry, CID, but if it exists, there is porn of it. I've seen descriptions of some weird ones. Locke having sex with the male Moogle from FFVI. Squall and Seifer as gay vampire hobbits. Link and Darunia. Captain Kirk and that one space dragon he wrestled with. Luke Skywalker the zombie falling in love with Han Solo the werewolf. It goes on and on.

But....it's still Zelda regardless. o_O

Well, at least Sheik and Link don't hate each other like the other WTF pairings out there.

I guess the logic is that

Hylian female ==[magic]==> Sheikah male

is simpler than

Hylian female ==[magic]==> muscular Sheikah female ==[binding]==> Sheikah female that looks like a male

Not to mention if Ganondorf ever found out that "Sheik" was a woman in disguise as a man, it might tip him off... And you never know, she might want to be a dude. The gossip stone did say she was a tomboy.

Tomboy, yes. Wannabeaboy, no.

Or are they the same? Not being Female I wouldn't know.

And the tomboyishness would probably make the disguising easier.

Not to mention if Ganondorf ever found out that "Sheik" was a woman in disguise as a man, it might tip him off..

Considering the only two people to know that Sheik was really Zelda was Zelda herself and Impa(whose idea it probably was) I don't find that likely.

Not to mention that the first time anyone other than the aforementioned people caught wind was a great tip-off for Ganondorf, and he wasn't even there!

There's also the great point that if there was gender-swapping involved, then if Ganondorf ever found out that Sheik was just a gender-swapped Zelda, it would be a tip-off, too.

I would also like to point out that there's a similar 'Zelda reveal' scene in TWW involving instant change of hairstyle, makeup, and attire, which was definitely a homage to the one in OoT.

My logic seems to go that a simple disguise is easier than a (unnecessary other than for purposes of 'yaoi') gender swap.

some All of those are just.......disturbing. Sadly, I wish that this was news to me, I just naively hope that through my acting like it doesn't exist will stop it from existing(which works in %.00000000000000001 of cases). At least my outlook of the world is a more positive one because of it. ;)

As a tomboy myself, definitely not the same thing. I'm more than fine with my bits and pieces, but I happen to like sports and high explosives.

Yeah, I know being a tomboy isn't the same as wanting to be a boy. That part was a joke. But there's still no way to tell if Zelda had any reservations about switching her gender.

Not to mention if Ganondorf ever found out that "Sheik" was a woman in disguise as a man, it might tip him off..

Considering the only two people to know that Sheik was really Zelda was Zelda herself and Impa(whose idea it probably was) I don't find that likely.

There's also the great point that if there was gender-swapping involved, then if Ganondorf ever found out that Sheik was just a gender-swapped Zelda, it would be a tip-off, too.

My point is, it increases her chances of being caught, because if Ganondorf happened to *somehow* find out that Sheik was a woman disguised as a man, it would set off suspicion as to why Sheik would want to hide her gender. As for how he would find out, well... if I remember correctly, in the manga, Sheik acts as a servant of Ganondorf's, and is seen in what would be dangerously close proximity to him if she was hiding that. (I think that element of the manga stems from the part in the game where Ganondorf calls Sheik a traitor) But that's just one possibility.

It most certainly isn't just a "simple disguise", as I explained, her entire physical body completely changes. It may be unnecessary for her to transform into a boy, but you could also say that it was unnecessary for her to disguise herself as a boy in the first place. The only reason I can think of for her not changing her *stuff* along with everything else is because it's too "weird". But I don't find it weird at all. Maybe it's because I grew up with the gender-swapping Starlights from Sailor Moon; very similar to how Zelda did it to hide from Ganondorf, they did it to hide from Galaxia. You have to recall that it's not an uncommon thing in anime and such Japanese media.

Gah, this is turning ot to be a Zelda General debate. Maybe someone should split the thread? :S

Well, it's not as bad as the Wizard of Oz series. Hey, Tip, you were born a girl, then magically changed into a boy as a very young baby. So, despite the fact that you've grown up as a boy for your entire life, I'm going to turn you back into a girl, okay?

He/she must just be really confused, now.

I like to think that Zelda does it all by magic, at least her visual appearance. I'm not particularly fond of the idea of Zelda 'blacking up'. @.@ And novelty coloured contacts? In a medieval setting? Okay, so they often openly flaunt the medieval time period but I still think that's pushing it a tad.

Whether she's packing a pecker or has strapped down her boobs doesn't matter, she could be like an Action Man for all we know.

Of course, Sheik's design in TP/Brawl seems to be a bit more obvious with the strapping and the fact that she's got her hair tied up is a dead giveaway. Even so, it's still magic so hey.

Anyway, lets get back on topic now. @.@

I said it was like putting colored contacts in. Not that she actually put contacts in. I was just trying to compare it with something modern and conventional. Of course it's all just magic.

And it's no surprise that this Sheik would look a bit different. Is is technically a different Zelda, isn't it? I don't know who Action Man is, thoug... (edit:) GI Joe. Ah. Just the bump, no details? ;)

I'm kind of curious what some of those do besides just power boosts - maybe some unlock alternative attack animations, or costumes, possibly?

Spoiler : click to show/hide
There was a video on wii.com that showed some stickers in use. The little "used by" icons leaked three characters: Jigglypuff, Ness, and Lucario. Nintendo hastily changed the video afterward.

Check Brawl Central for the full story on that, as well as images and the video itself. You'll have to scroll through several updates and more info, but eh. Site's a bit high-handed, but it's usually got the latest rumors and the like. Spoilers, obviously.

EDIT: Eesh, it's off their front page already. Check the January archive.
