I love this game because the Subspace Emissary made it fun to play with multiple characters instead of just using one. My favorite characters are Metaknight, Pit, Wolf, Pokemon Trainer (Squirtle > Charizard > Ivysaur) and Sonic. I also love playing as Toon Link, R.O.B. and Pikachu, but I'm not that good with them yet.
Toon Link is absolutely amazing.
Spoilers have already been posted so I'm not worried about using tags. The game has been out for over a month now, already, and whoever is still coming to this thread but doesn't want spoilers is rather confused. :x

Anyway, I was curious as to why you used Charizard the entire match...He runs out of stamina, you know. =/ You should consider building up damage w/ squirtle, juggling w/ Ivysaur, and then breaking out the Charizard once they're at a high %.
I still got lots of guys to unlock...I've been doing more brawling than Subspace Amisary. =/

He does an insane amount of damage, especially in his smash attacks and his Warlock-DoTing side-B attack. His playstyle is strange, though (especially when you're trying to find an opportunity to whip out all of your Pikmin (teehee)), so it takes quite a bit of getting used to.SteveT, on Mar 10 2008, 11:52 PM, said:
Really? How do you play him? I've found him to be...useless so far.Olimar is awesome, as expected.
Also, Metaknight's complete lack of finishing moves makes me a sad Splash. I love his fighting style, but I guess I'll just have to learn how to use Toon Link if I want to win against tourneyfags.
And Captain Falcon is a lot better than I've heard. He has pretty ridiculous priority.
And Ike is still a douchebag. Marth seems better, though, and his playstyle is a whole lot more fun in this game since he's not as gravity-confused as the rest of 'em. What's with the floating, anyway? Sometimes I wish I could combine the Melee fighting style with the Brawl everything-elsee.
Only sometimes, of course.
People need to start uploading pictures they made with their trophies.

Anyway, Link is obviously my main, though I've tried Pit and Ike willingly (both are pretty good), and tried Samus once (don't like Zero Suit much, she doesn't have any good surround attacks).
And the Subspace Emissary is the most epic thing ever.

For Olimar -- pluck and regroup your Pikmin any time you aren't in direct danger. Throwing Pikmin is a great way to harass enemies, and his smash attacks do a good amount of damage. Really, with him, if you keep track of how many pikmin you have and where they all are (can't neglect down+special), you'll be in good shape. It's also worth noting that his side smash has a ton of reach (although I bet the damage drops off with distance).
I like Peach too. (You and I must have completely opposite playing styles--how do you feel about Bowser?). Good smash attacks, the turnip is good for annoying distance characters, her hip bump does tons of damage (though it can lead to accidental suicides), and she has the best recovery in the game aside from fliers. I killed a boss in SSE using nothing but Hip Bumps and it took like 30 seconds.

BRING IT!
I assume most of you guys have finished the SSE. Who else found the last level annoyingly long?
Steve: I'm not a fan of Bowser. I like to play with Link as my main, though Meta Knight, R.O.B and Kirby are also good in my books.

Gotta say, while my old standby's are still doing their thing (Link, Samus, Marth), Zero Suit Samus is fun as heck to play as, and Snake is pretty cool too. Captain Falcon was also a good choice ebfore, but he seems a little better now for some weird reason? Though I miss his original kick from the first SSB that they replaced with his elbow in Melee. Plus I gotta say, out of the Star Fox Trio, I think I prefer Wolf over Fox and Falco.
Squirtle is probably my favorite of the three Pokemon though, weirdly. o_o
In general, I rather like how they went and made the game almost closer in tune with the original rather then Melee - it's almost like how if the original were Street Fighter II, Melee would be SFII Turbo Hyper Fighting - Brawl seems more like a happy medium, where you really have to be more careful with what you do, but without all the "elite" techniques tourney users made up in Melee. Always good.

For SSB?... since the first game? o_o; I even found myself as a kid using it the first day I played it and tried out all the characters. It's used all the time in games, especially fighters and MMORPGs....When did people start using the word "main" when talking about their most used character? I'd never heard it before until I read a Brawl meme on deviant art.

Also, anyone else get a version with some obvious but fun glitches? The one I'm playing is that way, and I know of several more people who do, too.
My favorite glitch so far is the one that happens whenever I use a character that specializes in melee fighting.
I just have to hold down "A."
How the hell did that slip by the testers?

I found SSE to be tougher in co-op, since the second player is really superfluous and just eats up your live

What happens with that glitch?

I only wish I had Brawl (or a Wii for that matter >_< ). If I find that Ness has been (even somewhat) un-nerfed since Melee, he'll probably be one of my mains aside fro mthe Ice Climbers.
Also, has anyone seen all of Snake's Codecs for Brawl? Luigi's in particular made me laugh hard.

"Up until now, standard combos, or button-press combos, were done primarily by tapping the attack button repeatedly.
That won?t change in Brawl, but now you can also just hold down the attack button to automatically do consecutive standard attacks."

It's nothing that changes the balance of the game, or really has an effect other than making the user giggle.
Basically, after you do an attack or consecutive attack you can pause then hold down "A" to make the character start glitching and switching between the first and final frame of the "superdeluxecomboaction" move.
It's hard to describe, but it stops as soon as the character lands one hit or is attacked.
But it's pretty damn funny.
It has replaced taunts, for me.
