Odd, because it seems Pit looks identical in-game. Maybe they've adjusted all the character models to look like in-game renders rather than what they had before? I thought Link's render looked a little different as well.Pit confirmed as different:

Looks nice.

I think they were actually trying to make the new one less detailed, which is actually pretty cute to me since it's an adaptation of an 8-bit character anyway.the old one looks a lot more detailed.
There are a few subtle differences, but mainly it seems they?ve gone for the “less polygons” look that seems to be all the rage nowadays.
I do love what they did with the wings, but the hair is bit on the anime-boy side.

In any case, they updated with Pit's B and Up-B moves. The idea of changing the direction of his arrows definitely sounds cool.

If this is the case, that's awesome. You can take off and rain arrowy death from above.
DROOL.
It's nice to see that we're learning some of the character's moves now. ^^

And bleh, you can pretty much do the same thing with Kirby's stone move (one of my favorite tacts, probably because I just love to say STONED when I crush someone ^^).

It's a really fast arrow, so as long as you're accurate, it looks like it'll hit most of the time. That arrow would have to be really hard to control, though; you'd can't adjust your shot according to your opponent's movements, you'd have to know where you're shooting from the get go and let it fly.
...How is Kirby's move anything like any of Pit's moves? o.oAnd bleh, you can pretty much do the same thing with Kirby's stone move (one of my favorite tacts, probably because I just love to say STONED when I crush someone ^^).

Does anyone else find it curious the haphazard way this is developing? As in, the way they're starting in on items and moves instead of rounding out the list of confirmed characters?

So they're slowly working their way through the stuff we know, with a few extra bits here and there to keep our attention.

Oddly enough, the Smash Ball isn't in the Items section. Maybe it'll be there at a later date when they go into it in more detail, but it doesn't sound like it works like an ordinary item (in the movie, it just floats there and Mario grabs it as he touches it).
Final Smash is a much better name than 'Super Smash' anyway.

Nice to hear, but a bit of a boring update today. Oh well. Give it time.

If this was implimented in Melee, it'd only really apply to the Super Scope (does the Ray Gun have an auto fire when you hold down the button? I forget), so I assume there might be other weapons using rapid fire. Either that or it just applies to the scope. And even then it might not apply to charging the weapon.

True, but it does massively change the strategy of one of SSBM's major weapons.

I don't see how it 'massively' changes the strategy that much either, the Scope is best used for charge shots in my experience anyway. This simply makes the rapid fire shots a bit easier to use. That's not a massive change in strategy. It's a little change.
Hence my annoyance that today's update was kinda dull. o.o

*snicker* Cracker Launcher *snicker*
Anyway, it sounds like a cool weapon; I just hope it's not a speed-reducing type of thing. They did, after all, say it was bulky.

Why does it sound like that? You'll have to begin shooting before you can start moving while shooting, after all.
Oh, okay. I guess I midread it.
And... Cracker Launcher? That's the best they could come up with?

Also, if the game is coming out before the end of the year, it would be nice to have somewhat of a line up by now. Shouldn't we at least know all of the characters that are returning from Melee by now? Do they actually think that it will spoil anything to tell us that much? Heck, I'd be happy if they said, "Jigglypuff sucks so she isn't in this game," or something. We haven't got any new character information in months, and telling us that Fox is in the game doesn't count. "OH, WOW, FOX!!!! I DIDN'T EXPECT HIM!!!!"
When are they going to get to the good stuff like, "Okay, you can play as the dog from Duck Hunt," or, "You can beat Tingle up all you want now because he is a playable character"? When exactly did we see the first video for Brawl? E3 in May 2006, that's when. We found out about it over a year ago, and only one "new" fighter (Fox) has been confirmed. Since there is no E3 this year, HAL Labs should release a little more information than "daily weekday updates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Also, joey, Vertiboy, shut up. If you guys want to know *everything* about the game RIGHT NOW and then sit on your ass waiting with no updates until release, then fine, but personally I like this 'update a day' thing. Gives me something interesting to wake up to. And I'm not the only one by any means.
And of course they're starting slow, we've got AGES to go yet, jeez. I predict another character update or two next week.
The Cracker Launcher (I get the feeling that name might change... o.o) looks spiffyfun if you ask me.

Why does it sound like that? You'll have to begin shooting before you can start moving while shooting, after all. Directional attacks would still work like normal I presume (you can't perform sideways attacks or standing attacks with the Scope anyway), the only other attack that I can see you possibly not being able to perform with the gun would be a sideways aerial attack.
I don't see how it 'massively' changes the strategy that much either, the Scope is best used for charge shots in my experience anyway. This simply makes the rapid fire shots a bit easier to use. That's not a massive change in strategy. It's a little change.

Hmmm I don't know... One of the most balanced things that the scope had in the other SSB was that you had to stay still on plain ground in orther to use it, if you wanted to change the line of your fire you had to stop it and then proceed to the other point of fire of your choosing. This makes it easier to not only target your enemies with more ease, but makes their life a hell of a lot more difficult. Not to mention that to dodge and or having the chance of setting more of a distance between you and your foe, is a lot more easy to do.
And the charge shot like you said could also fall into this, but only if you could change the line of fire from the charge shot and or (even tho I highly doubt they would do this) if you could actually move while charging it. Sure it says that you can only move while it is being fired, but they were not specific enough on its other elements of fire. So who knows what will happen...

I agree with DarkJuno (that's a first), but only a little. I can understand Nintendo not giving us the good stuff right away, but we can only be so patient. That's the hard part about advertising; knowing when to update.Agreed - they should absolutely give us all the best info right here and right now so there'll be no surprises whatsoever when the game comes out. That's the way to do it.
....given how dense people in general have been lately, yes, that was sarcasm.
Also, you're right if I think the Cracker Launcher is one of my instant favorites. (Pyromaniacs ftw!)

What are you gonna do if you run out of patience then? Make angry phone calls to Nintendo threatening to, I don't know, pitch a hissy fit unless they give you an update?but we can only be so patient.

...On second thought, it might ruin the feel that Delfino had in Super Mario Sunshine by flying on a platform all over the place. And I don't see any Piantas. ;_;
