I do, but I also know of many comics that could be what you mean that you wouldn't want to be referring to. ;3 But yes, I know, and I'm positively drowning in those references as of late.He gets someone else in the end before the end. You know the comic of which I speak.
Alright, I can already predict that gooey bomb is going to be annoying, but nobody ever uses items when they're playing multiplayer anyway. :3
Naw, it's not a new tactic. Lots of people use guerrilla warfare or running around and fleeing like a pansy as tactics in SSB already. XDInteresting new tactic...
It would be interesting to see all slow characters getting stuck with that item, though.

Only tourney dicks turn all items off. Items are part of what makes the game so great.but nobody ever uses items when they're playing multiplayer anyway.

To each their own. I've only met one or two people that actually prefer to play with items during multiplayer games and I've only met one person who likes to play with items during tournaments. The problem comes in when you're trying to fight someone and all they do is - to use your term - dick around and just focus all of their effort on grabbing items rather than actually getting into contact. Of course, item select helps with the issues, but it's much easier to just turn the whole bloody thing off. ;3
That said, I do hope that the "super attacks" I've seen in SSBB teasers are products of items and not actual moves.

I don't get all the complaints people have about items. Switching them off is like switching off the items in Mario Kart. I mean, for heck's sake, what kind of spoil sport wants to do that?
Besides, items are a double edged sword. They sometimes leave the character more vulnerable than they would otherwise be, and it draws attention to the player using them or chasing after them and they sometimes forget to defend themselves adequately in their attempt to grab something.
And how is the Gooey Bomb annoying? It's much better than getting hit by a Bob-omb because there's a way of getting out of it once you've been hit. The skill is not getting hit in the *first* place.
Switch them off if you want, but using and avoiding items is half of the skill of Smash Bros.

I sometimes get myself killed trying to get a Beam Sword, too, but it's worth the risk if I can snag it. ^^
And let's not forget pokeballs; these are the real double-edged-sword items in these game (unless you count Boxes, Barrels and Capsules as items). You'd be surprised how often I get an Electrode out of my Pokeballs; sometimes I try to throw the thing at an opponent (you can pick it up once it starts flashing black), but it's a skill I've yet to perfect; you have to throw it FAST or it'll blow up in your face.

I prefer to play with items and all my friends generally prefer to play with items.

I have to agree. Items bring a whole new layer to the gameplay of SSB, you change your gameplay tactics according to any item like situation whether in your favor or not. Hitting a player on the other side of the map while trying to save itself with pinpoint precision, is a small example that requires skill with said items...... A person could really be here all day giving examples.
Concerning the new item, not only am I surprised by the Musicians quality in the game, but that item seems to come from the Cho Aniki series wich surprisingly are also on the musicians page..........

No.Are you callin' me a dick? O_o; Yikes, man.
My point is the items add to the excitement and fun of the game. I can't stand when I jump into a group of people playing Melee and they're playing some boring no-item, final-destination-only matches. Shit claims like "NO ITEMS SHOWZ UR TRUE SKILZ" are retarded. I absolutely love how an unexpected bob-bomb can turn turn the tide of battle in an instant. In my experience the only people who complain about items are sore losers. If somebody's annoying the crap out of you with items, then learn to counter them.

Actually, the page said that you could pass it off to someone else after you get stickied. And how is the Gooey Bomb annoying? It's much better than getting hit by a Bob-omb because there's a way of getting out of it once you've been hit. The skill is not getting hit in the *first* place.
And, yeah, I do understand the fun of having items on. :3 I didn't mean to get everyone in a hissy fit. Like I said, to each their own. The majority of when I play the games are when it's fast-paced, non-stop, close-combat action. I do play with items (never in a tournament, of course, because having healing items or one-hit-kill items in a tournament would just be, excuse this, retarted) and I do know how to work with them; I wasn't just whining about 'em or claiming there's no point to 'em. I've found that items are not what make SSB, seeing as how amazing the actual fighting is, and I get the most thrills out of testing my techniques against someone else's.
Thus, and I'm repeating myself with this, the wonderful part about the items in the SSB series is that they are not what decides whether the game is fun or not. Mario Kart would be a bore without items, but SSB still retains that working formula whether items are on or not.

But look at Bowser. He just doesn't look like he did in SM64, even if you take graphical advancements into consideration (though such advancements were obviously what made for this much needed change in appearance ? He looked like ass in SM64).
Would you WANT him too? Bowser looked terrible in Super Mario 64. The only reason we forgave it is because 3D games were new at the time.

You might want to try reading what you just quoted. A "much needed" update because he "looked like ass" would imply that I approved of the change.Would you WANT him too? Bowser looked terrible in Super Mario 64. The only reason we forgave it is because 3D games were new at the time.

I love Soul Calibur and VF, but really, this is a whole different game altogether. There's nothing wrong with wanting to win at anything, but geez, keep your psycho obsessive fighting game genre craziness away from SSB.

...Agreed. Wow. XD
I don't have my items turned up to the max, though; the second highest is all my brother uses.

Yikes. o_o I'm glad that couldn't be directed at me.If you want to play a fighting game where you insist on skill and no silly things to unfairly shift the battle, go play Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution.... keep your psycho obsessive fighting game genre craziness away from SSB.

But yes, stages and items are a definite part of the formula. SSB is really more of a platform/fighting hybrid than a straight fighter, anyway.

Personally I play with items on low or very low frequency and just Bomb-ombs and Heart Container/Max Tomato off, I wouldn't want the field without them but I wouldn't want the fight to turn into nothing more than a item spam fest.
Bomb-ombs wouldn't be near as bad if they weren't so incredibly volatile, I mean seriously you'd be dominating and then suddenly you get a Bomb-omb dropped on your head by the spawn and the losing opponent gets a completely undeserved victory. All I'd ask is for them not to explode the second they appear and that'd already be quite enough. Its not being a sore loser, they'd be 100% justified.
Chances are though when you play someone whos good without items, they'll completely murder you with items. If they couldn't either way then those would be the sore losers. Items are a equalizer only to an extent, they make bad players into decent but they also make good into unstoppable.

Haha, yeah. In the old SSB I usually set it to nothing but Beam Swords, then try my hardest to keep the COMs away from them. Fun. ^^You can set up some crazy, random matches with items on the highest settings if you're ever bored enough. Try it with only bombs and mines, or only Pokeballs, or only with super/poison mushrooms in the adjacent giant/tiny modes.
But something really annoys me about SSB:M; for some reason, you can't have Barrel Cannons turned onto the max (which is a shame because I love sending people rolling off the screen ^^). Does anyone know why?

Actually, that's a fair point, however Bob-ombs only explode when they appear if they happened to get attacked as they appear. This, thankfully, is fairly rare and you can sometimes spot them coming. All I'd ask is for them not to explode the second they appear and that'd already be quite enough.
What bothers ME is the high chance of a Capsule exploding, and they, like Bob-ombs, also explode when attacked, and them appearing just as you unleash a punch is more likely than Bob-ombs doing the same. Much worse.
Anyway, we've seen Pit today, nothing new really, just some very pretty piccies of him (mmm, Pit). We've also learnt vaguely how his bow attack works. I just hope it keeps him hoving in the air as he fires it, so you can fire easily from the sky.
Looks like you can aim it before it fires, and you can also control how they curve. How this'll work is anyone's guess but I expect it'll be very fun and I just know that Pit is going to be a favourite character of mine, judging by gameplay footage of how he moves and attacks.

I think it's just the angle of some of the shots, and the lighting. I compared the shot of him on the Halberd stage with the first trailer movie (where he also makes an appearance on the Halberd stage) and he looked pretty much identical.
No, I mean the render itself, not the character model. I thought it looked slightly different that the one on the old site, but I guess not.

That's extremely likely, and i've thought about it as well. They should let you load your Mii onto the game and play as it. Of course, they would all have the same moves. The Mii would be a character (probably unlockable), and the different Miis would be like different costumes.
