You know what 'flying' item I'd like to see, though? The Super Leaf!

I was watching the Super Mario Bros. 3 cartoon just a few days ago and thinking that SSB needed more flying racoons...

Racoon Meta Knight would be epic.

Racoon Zero Suit Samus would be like my little furry dreams come true.

Anyway, it must be said that today's update is fucking awesome. Best level idea ever. And it seems designed specifically to further piss off the tourny obsessives. XP

Sakurai should cleverly rig Brawl so that if they try to turn of all items and use only non-interactive stages...

That characters just randomly explode and die.

You make me wanna draw this.

Also, I say hurrah to tourney-breaking stages! mean, for those of us who want to have fun when we play SBB, this seems like the kind of stage for us.

No offense to you tourney types, of course.

Ahaha, I remember that episode! I had no idea who the hell Milli Vanilli were. Hence why it stuck in my head. XP

POP, what's POP? You live in the UK, how are you seeing the Mario cartoons? Damn ye!

I also want to note that when I mention tourny obsessives, I mean all the offense in the world. XP Unless it's some kind of good tourny that has items and all the stages.

Man, I don't think there's any US channels that play Mario cartoons, not even Boomerang or Toon Disney. I know my friend has a DVD but I think it's a bootleg.

I think I'd understand tournaments if they were actually fun for the players. It might just be me, but it almost seems like work for them. And at that stage you're kind of missing the point.

EDIT: I drew Raccoon Metaknight...:P

...hush, it was rushed. And I can't draw circles to save my life.

They're on every day on POP. It's one of the free Sky Channels, channel 616 nowadays, I think. (It recently moved from 619). There's also Tiny POP (617) and POP Girl (626), and +1 versions, if you want to watch My Little Pony or Mew Mew Power... In fact... yes, Mario's on right this moment, on POP +1 (627). Though im fact it's an episode of Captain N, which they occasionally seem to show almost by mistake. They're in Megaman's game.

I expect you need Sky for that then (even though some Sky channels can be found on Freeview and such), which I don't have. Nerts.

Nice pic, Snowsilver. ^^

Hehe. I hope in online play, the stage selection automatically gives preference to more interactive stages if only two people are choosing. Wario-Ware world is going to annoy the Tourneytards so much.

I'd make it so that if all items are turned off, there's a chance of getting an 'Item Switch' beacon that automatically cranks up all items to their highest drop rates. And it's touch-activated like a Smash Ball.

And it seeks out the nearest player if nobody goes after it. :D

Yay Metaknight!

Though I always thought that DeDeDe was Kirby's 'real' rival...Metaknight was more of a mentor/antihero type guy. Also don't forget the conspiracy theories that insist the whole story has a Star Wars twist...

Actually, Nightmare is Kirby's father. Pretty much. XP

Meta Knight is a Star Warrior. This is all according to the anime anyway, which is the closest we've got to a proper backstory.

I think Kirby and Meta Knight can be considered rivals. In the same way that Samus and Ridley are rivals, but Ridley generally isn't the major villian. Then again, neither is Dedede most of the time. Dark Matter tends to be the main villian. Oh well, who knows.

I'm assuming that this update means that we will either:
1 - get some of Meta Knight's moves explained, but since we already know his moves, we might get...
2 - his Final Smash. Alternatively, we might get...
3 - the Halberd stage, or...
4 - some information about how he links to the story. Alternatively, and most likely, we will get...
5 - something entirely different.

Solid Snake + his Final Smash

...Hey, a guy can hope, right? (Incidetnally, I despise Metal Gear Solid, but I'm really hoping his Final Smash involves summoning a Metal Gear.)

What!? They're changing Mario's Down-B move!?

NOOOOOOO!!!!

Unless, I suppose, the Tornado becomes his Down-A Smash Attack.

Mario Tornado will probably be the Down-A in the air or the Down-B in the air. That's what I figure.

Yay, Meta Knight! I think he might be my new favourite character...

F.L.U.D.D. might be an abomination to all things Mario stands for (take that lightly, but it?s technically true), however it is good for 3 things:

1. At least one new attack for a veteran fighter confirmed. My guess is that's why Sakurai only has shown off two for most characters. New moves = Good. I was worried they would only tweak old characters. And although the Mario tornado sucked (literally) in Melee, it?s cool to see a special attack live on as a part of the normal move set.

2. This pretty much confirms the Poltergust for Luigi, and that's just neat.

3. Its a pretty cool attack.

Pokemon Stadium... Can?t say much about that except it's up to expectations.

My theory? Cape = gone. Rather, fireballs are B-smashes, and Tornado is standard B. The only reason I say this is because of how popular his spinning move will become in Galaxy.

Or the Tornado is B + Up, making it a jump akin to Galaxy's jumping thingy.

Also, very likely (and very nice) boxart revealed.

I gotta say, I was hoping Pokémon Stadium 2 would have all 17 types (with Normal was the normal style, maybe). And I was and still am hoping the stage changes come more often than they did in SSBM... Bah, I complain too much. :P The Dugtrio, Cubone, and fossils on the Ground stage make me hope for Pokémon appearances on the other stages (maybe Saffron City style). And they better have a bunch of Johtos/Hoenns/Sinnohs. Kanto's getting way too much love at the moment. (EDIT: And I just learned that Drifloon appears in the background of the Flying stage. Yay. :D)

That's some cool art. Not all of the starter players are on it though. :(

Well, here's how I see it:

Mario's Down-A smash in SSBM was pretty lacking compared to his Up and Fireglove smashes. Moving the Tornado there would fix this and make a way for the move to be as powerful as it was in the first game--if you charge it up all the way, it does what it did in SSB. If you don't charge it, it's closer to the weaker Melee version. That's how I'd do it, but obviously I'm not Sakurai.

They wouldn't remove his sweeping Smash in favour of a short range combo. Firstly, it wouldn't be a Smash because it's not a clearance move, and secondly, you can't remove an attack that's as useful as his down A Smash. Whether you think it's 'lacking' or not, it had it's uses because it had a completely different range of effect from his other Smash moves.

Each character needs three Smash moves that hit certain areas. Without them, it's like they're handicapped. Mario Tornado is far too close-range.

I get the feeling it'll be an aerial move simply because Sakurai is focusing on aerial fighting quite a lot.

Sakurai didn't confirm that it is a normal move he posed it as an open question. Replacing one of its tilts or smashes doesn't seem like, so perhaps they added even more variations. In melee you had 4 direction attack and a neutral one, so they could have added a new one like rotating the control stick / wiimote and pressing A (just a guess though).

Today's main update is quite possibly one of my favourite updates so far. This. Is. Awesome. Personalising the music, choosing the ratio to which they appear, a wide selection of tracks for one single stage... Genius. The only way it could be any better is if they add an option to have your own music played in the background, ala Excite Truck.

Also, the menus look really pretty, to my eyes. I love the little sketchy effect where the stage is displayed.

But you have to collect Compact Discs in-game to get all the tunes or so it seems.

Yeah, looks like they're gonna make you play it. A lot. It's about time I get a wii game with some decent replay value. By the way, how long have they been doing multiple updates per day?

A few times at most. I know the very first update was a double update, but other occurrences are quite rare. Perhaps Sakurai is doing this as there are too many features in the game that need to be mentioned before its launch. Not that I'm complaining. ^.^
