You say that even if they aren't terribly exciting from a gameplay (layout) perspective, the levels are asbolutely gorgeous. Now, let's skip the fact that that is a ridiculously flawed idea of what makes a good stage... And go on to the fact that you immediately afterwards said that you liked two stages from Melee that were interesting mostly because of their unique and fun layouts.

If you're going to say that gameplay doesn't matter and graphics can makeup for boring layouts, at least stick by it :P


Um.. What? That's not what I said. I refuted your point by saying that several levels did look very interesting gameplay-wise, and then added that even those that don't are beautiful to look at, which is, at the very least, a consoaltion. Besides, we've seen no more than one level per character thus far, and have no idea what levels are yet to be revealed or will be unlockables.

Hmm. . . I surprised they took this long to update Link's page.

Most likely because they want to balance the expected with the unexpected. Stretch it out a bit, since the game still has a few months to go before release.

There's a new movie on the site on The Subspace Emmisary. The game's villain is revealed, and Petey Pirahna might have a role in the game. WATCH.

Petey "might" have a role in the game? He's obviously a boss. Most definitelly non-playable. Which is big news.

As for the Ancient Minister... Grodus meets Zant, anyone?

I noticed things play out differently in this movie than in the screenshots before - unless Mario returns somehow. I also noticed that Sakurai's notion "This is no time to get kidnapped." didn't hold true for long. Though technically Zelda should be able to teleport out of that cage... Uh, maybe its magical, or something.

This would imply that Peach and Zelda are unlockable. Literally.

Either that or the Adventure Mode takes a completely different route depending on the character, so Mario starts a long way away, Kirby starts... Well, here, dealing with the bomb or something, and Peach and Zelda start by escaping imprisonment.

How does this movie play out differently? It just continues from where we last left it, although it seems to me like all the Primids are gone. If you look at the previous set of screenshots, we see Mario fighting some Primids in the stadium; looks like he won, and this is what happened next. And I don't see much of Zant in the Ancient Minister, but there's a fair bit of Grodus to him.

I'm much amused by the appearance of ROBs to set off the bomb. The arrival of Petey confirms that some characters will indeed be on the side of the Subspace Army, but one question that's bothering me is who fired that bullet thing that hit Mario? Petey? Or someone else? It looked like a Snifit bullet or something.

Ah, yes, you are right of course. I thought the movie took of right where the previous one ended, but it is apparent to me now they had a fight before that.

And I don't see much of Zant in the Ancient Minister, but there's a fair bit of Grodus to him.

Eh, it?s mostly the glowing signs on his belt and his ?floaty? clothes, though he also made the same kind of silent entry as Zant did.

Yes, Petey fired it. You can see his silhouette through the smoke.

This new story mode is gonna be awesome though...after all, who hasn't thought about where and why all the smashing is going on? (ie, the story behind Smash Bros). Maybe this will answer that question. Or, maybe not...still, I like how it looks so far. :D

that would be awesome, especially if you could play as the evil side too. Seeing as some of theplayable characters look like they're taking the other side, eg. meta-knight... etc.

They'll probably put up his special moves in the next update, since the screenies in the profile-thing weren't very descriptive.

I bet he's going to be one of the most fluid characters in the game. If he's fast, too, then I might've found a new character to add to my main roster.

No love for the slow boys. I think Ike and Bowser are going to change that trend this time around, though.

Anyway, the DK series was in dire need of another character, although I'm still hoping K. Rool makes a good appearance. I like how Diddy has the Nintendo logo on his hat. ^^ Yay.

Looks real to me.
I love how they went with the simplistic look this time. It keeps the screen nice and clean despite the number of characters.

Well considering it looks nothing more than the characters images clumped together in a grid, it could easily be faked, especially considering that 3 images have just been left blank. Also the fact that as Snake hasn't been released as a true character yet, so his image's background is mysteriously another colour. I just don't think I'm buying this, especially as the selection screen usually has the 4 character slot icons as well, not just a box.

Yay! Diddy! BD His moves sound wacky. Can't wait to see him in action.

Oooh, I certainly hope this game has enough newcomers to keep the blog actively updated with them and still have plenty to be revealed only through the game itself.

That would be hilarious...not to mention low budget XD It'd be even funnier if they spent the money not used on graphics and recorded the most epic, high budget soundtrack of all time :lmao:

It's like I said in the first place. I was just waiting for Diddy Kong to show up, and he finally did. I knew he was going to be in it and I shouldn't be surprised, but the simple fact that he is confirmed just really excites

Yes!! Diddy Kong's in the house!! I've been waiting to see him in a Smash game for the longest. They totally ignored him in Smash Melee. They didn't even have a trophy of him. But I knew that Nintendo was going to catch on to that.

Congratulations Diddy Kong, the first Kong other than Donkey Kong to ever be featured as a playable character in a Smash game.

Wow! I have to say...thats the most authentic looking selection screen I've seen so far. I wouldn't be surprised if they went with something pretty similar to that (unless they completely redesign the structure).

I have to say though...I'm hoping to see something where the character is 3D and does a little animation when selected, like in the original. And also where they have thier own unique entrance to the stage.

That selection screen looks as lame as heck, if you ask me. It's just a mass of question marks with all the other characters scattered in a totally random manner. Yes, Brawl is going to have a lot of characters, but that is insane.

Other than that, it's just dull. Not gonna happen. If people are gonna fake these things, they could at least make them either believable or, well, decent looking. Hell, Vertiboy's one is better than that one.

Anyway, today's update makes me go 'glee'. Yoshi has always been one of my favourite characters, and his Final Smash gives me a total Super Mario World high. ^^ Once again, Yoshi makes the place as a favourite, huzzah.

*whistles* Not bad. If stomping abilities upon landing are within the power of Yoshi's Super Smash, that would round up his collection of powers from Super Mario World. By which I mean you put a flashing shell in his mouth to give him all three abilities (wait for a yellow koopa to jump int oa yellow shell). Except in Brawl Yoshi doesn't have to worry about losing all his powers after going pyromaniacal.

Everything about Yoshi in this game impresses me. I highly expect that he'll be my main.

Frankly, calling his Final Smash an homage to SMW isn't quite accurate. Yoshi in SSBB has the same abilities he has in SM64DS.

Yoshi can't fly in SM64DS. Not as far as I'm aware, anyway. Maybe in multiplayer.

And Yoshi has been breathing fire since SMW (and flying, of course).
