I hope that Zero Suit Samus' Final Smash is the infamous 'Crystal Flash' from Super Metroid. To perform this move, Samus' armour is removed, but it reforms straight afterwards. If the Crystal Flash is in Brawl, it could heal ZSS entirely, maybe power her up somehow, and restore her suit to normal.

Well, that was predictable. Not a bad thing, but not really news.

Samus' Final Smash looks awesome. :D

Agreed.
>_>
But what if you put the Item Switch off, you wouldn't be able to change into ZSS (or the other way around, maybe)?
I turn off items in Melee, because when I play with Cpu's they smell them or something, and go for'em even when they're out of the screen.

All in all, everything looks perfect.

This game and Super Mario Galaxy are the only things that would get me to buy a Wii... only because i got Zelda TP on the Gamecube. Well, and the Virtual Console... I'm a sucker for the classics.

I'm so glad that ZSS is going to be basically the same character as Samus instead of them being seperate characters for seperate slots. Ah, you know what I mean! Such an awesome way of changing between the two, as well... This game is coming together nicely.

Refresh my memory; is the Crystal Flash when Samus absorbs a Power Bomb blast and uses it to regenerate her Energy Tanks? If that's the one, it won't work because she lacks the suit as ZSS.

Plus, Final Smashes can supposedly only be used once per match.

The Final Smash is a secret skill that can be performed but once…and only after obtaining an item called the Smash Ball, which is a precious item, indeed.

I guess that could mean once per life, though. I hope so. If it doesn't, it leaves no way for ZSS to revert to normal Samus through a Final Smash, and no way for Samus (assuming for now that the suit returns when Samus is KO'd) to become ZSS after a KO. Huh.

If that's the one, it won't work because she lacks the suit as ZSS.

She lacks Power Bombs too, who fucking cares? Oh my god, Pikachu has more than four moves! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE.

...This isn't Super Metroid, it's Brawl, they can do whatever they goddamn like, and who said she *needs* the suit to do the move?

Plus, Final Smashes can supposedly only be used once per match.

You're misreading the quote, all he's saying is that they can't be used repeatedly like other special moves. Once you get the Smash Ball, you can only unleash the move once, presumably until you get another Smash Ball.

Yes, but I wonder how frequently the Smash Ball will appear. I mean, if it's as good as they claim, it's likely to be rare. But if this thing is as rare as, say, the barrel canon from Melee, then they are basically preventing us from playing as ZS samus. Personally, I hope this thing is only slightly less frequent than a pokéball.

I don't think it'll work like other Items. It seems like it floats, and to collect it you merely have to touch it.

I expect they appear at regular intervals, like every minute, or every two minutes (there's probably an option to change their frequency or whether they appear at all).

Plus I still expect there will be another way to turn into Zero Suit Samus, much like how Zelda can start fights as Sheik in Melee.

There's also another observation. Samus' FS forces her to lose her armor... But you might be able to release ZSS manually! Sakurai didn't say that the Final Smash is the only way to transform. I think too many people are too focused on just the FS, there's more to the game then that.

Besides if you look at all the screenshots I noticed that there are much ZSS than Samus shots, so either Sakurai likes to comply to 'fan-service' or there are other means of using ZSS.

I fully expect Zamus to be able to transform back into Samus via her own Final Smash.

However, that still begs the quesiton... what if someone is playing with items turned off but they want to control Zero Suit Samus? My guess is that, once a match starts, the only way to change back and forth between the two is via Final Smashes, but that the game will let you choose between the two at the beginning of the match. If you hold down Z while starting a match with Zelda in Melee, you start out as Shiek... I think we'll see something like that.

Yeah, you're probably right. It's worded a little strangely, though. It says it can only be used once, "and" only with a Smash Ball, like they're two different aspects. But, it's not like vague language is unheard of on the site.

Besides if you look at all the screenshots I noticed that there are much ZSS than Samus shots, so either Sakurai likes to comply to 'fan-service' or there are other means of using ZSS.

If ZZS was limited to the Final Smash, then you could argue that Giga Bowser would count as a seperate character, but he doesn't. So I still think that there's a way of playing as ZZS without having to use the Final Smash.

If that is the case then where is Snake? Don't tell me that he's not there just because he hasn't been 'revealed', because ZSS was in many shots before her update came yesterday. Furthermore I've only seen a few Meta Knight pictures, but for some reason ZSS appears quite a lot.

Sakurai has made some comment about Snake being a "guest character" and seeing fit to keep him "hidden" or something. I don't remember the exact quote. The implication was that he was going to be unlockable. And my guess is they're holding off on revealing unlockables on the site, at least for quite a while.

That's not Sandbag, this is something else entirely.

This is PLOT.

PLOT. PLOT. There's a STORY. Someone is rebelling against the world of Super Smash Bros., breaking the fourth wall, and it seems Meta Knight is directly involved.

Glee. I knew there'd be a story mode of some kind.

Yeah, it seems story mode will be like the final event match, with the bad guys teaming up against the good guys.

Kinda weird design for the new 'villain', though.

...Master Hand, are you there?

Master hand will probably help the good side as he is kind of "ruler" of "the world" which would mean he would want to restore order.

Maybe there is a good storyline that you can follow and an evil storyline?
Almost like the campaigns in Starcraft.

Weird update today... Not sure that I like the idea of the game acknowledging everyone is a trophy during gameplay...

As for Zero Suit Samus... if using the Final Smash is really the only way to play as Zeru Suit Samus, then I'lm happy. ZSamus is the kind of character the tourney-nuts gravitate towards. But if you have to have items turned on to access her.... :D

Though there probably will be another way to do it.

The whole trophies-fighting-trophies thing made me think of a very strange mix between SSB and monster fighting games (like Pokemon). Although I'm enjoying how much they seem to be expanding the Story Mode, I still hope that they also dedicate plenty of effort into making the Classic mode as suprising and enjoyable as it always was.

How is it any worse than having zero plot whatsoever?

Besides, characters in Melee enter the fight as trophies turning into active fighters, and when you get a Game Over or complete the game, they also turn back into trophies. So the whole trophy thing is nothing really new anyway.

The trophy thing has been a part of the game since the original SSB, where Master Hand brought the Nintendo "dolls" to life. Melee's intro kind of makes it clear too.

I like it, personally. Explains why they're trying to beat the shit out of eachother. Not that it needs to, but its nice anyway.
