Nice. I like the scenery, along with the pace of the updates.

Is it just me, or does this game have a more modern theme this time? Delphino Plaza from Super Mario Sunshine, the latest consol Mario game (that is not a spin-off), is a stage. The Bridge of Eldin from the latest Zelda game is a stage. Fox looks as he does in Star Fox Command (albeit a little more detailed). Link and Zelda appear as they do in Twilight Princess. Wario appears as he does in Wario Ware, a fairly new franchise. Zero Suit Samus is from a fairly recent game. Are we going to see more of this? Either way, I like this.

Dr. Wright, the assist trophy, summons skyscrapers that blow everyone upward when they form. Now that's a new one.

Personally I'd rather see a different Wright make an appearance, preferably as a playable character.

Does it bother anyone else that they didn't mention Brawl among the Wii's crop of online titles?

Not really, because it's been understood that there will be online for it.

As for today's update: I think it's funny how Sakurai talks as if he's the only person working on the game. "I'm working very hard on it!" When, in reality, the game is probably somewhere between 99% and 100% complete, they mainly just have to design box art, print the manuals, and begin mass production.

To be fair, it's probably going to be in playtesting stage for a few months yet. Playtesting sometimes occurs right up until release, and it's especially important in a game with so many variables like this one. Of course, it helps that they're using the Melee engine to begin with, but still, a decent level of involvement from Sakurai is still likely from an overseeing point of view. In fact, given that he doesn't actually code the game himself (as far as I'm aware...) this could be considered one of the busiest times for a designer, doing all the touchups and stuff.

But hey, I'm just speculating, he might be sitting on his ass and has written all the website updates aaaages ago for all I know.

Nice to see some new footage anyway, even if it's only 15 seconds. Wario scares me. Fox's Fire Fox seems more powerful. o.o And the Cracker Launcher looks very fun.

That's weird, in the Spanish and the UK English version of the site he talks always in plural.

Finally! Donkey Kong looks great - I'm glad they've swapped the Melee model, because it was fairly ugly. Now he looks like he did in Donkey Kong Country. :)

I'd love to see K. Rool show up as a playable character, too.

The SSBB release date is up! (I can't believe no one posted this)

December 3rd, 2007.

Nice, right in time for Christmas next year.

And it's about time they brought the Bumper back! I really missed that in SSBM...

So, um, anyone think a Mario Galaxy themed stage will make it in?

It could be a round planet, and the camera could zoom in and out, sometimes revealing the whole planet. Occasionally, it could rotate, bringing different platforms and environmental features to the top where the players fighting. You could even jump through a pipe into the centre of the planet itself.

I hope they keep some of his old alternate colors.

Blue Donkey Kong for the win! ;)

I think it would be interesting to have the whole stage be a small round planet, and the only way to KO would be a meteor smash.

Sakurai seems to be making a mistake in his latest update: I don't think the Space Armada tune was in Melee at all, although it might have been involved in one of the Corneria and Venom melodies, I suppose.

However, this tune is from the original Star Fox, from one of the coolest stages ever, so I'm rather overjoyed to see this classic theme finally make a proper reappearance. ^^

Edit: Wait, no, I was wrong, it turns out the Corneria theme is a medley of the Venom theme, the main Star Fox theme and the Space Armada theme. Forgot about that. Even so, it's nice to hear it properly, like I said, it was only around 20 seconds long in Melee.

And it was more awesome than a music post! So imagine my disappointment when I logged on today.

I remember the first Star Fox... the first ever publicly-released game that was made in 3-D. That music sounds miles better than the SNES version.

I'm still holding out for Lucario, though.

playable lucario....that makes sense as crazy as it may be. charge up an aura sphere like smaus does her beam. force palm self explanatory. sky uppercut for the up+b. i luff lucario too much....
i cant wait to use pit im dying for this game already i have the 60 bucks waiting. i refuse to spend it.
its nice to see that they are doing incredible things with the stages, the amount of detail gone into them really makes them more enjoyable to look at.

Well it has just been revealed that Samus' FS triggers ZSS. Because the blast from the gun is too powerful, the armor falls off. Question is whether this has any influences other than a visual appearance (i.e. ZSS could just use exactly the same moves as Samus). And it doesn't say anything about getting the armor back or changing before the stage begins. Just like Zelda/Shiek in SSB:M.

Already confirmed that Zero Suit Samus uses a laser whip and is more agile than suited Samus.

I see this as a good thing, since Samus has a two-pronged Final Smash, while everybody else who failed to read the interview in context or look at the E3 video is having a hissy fit because ZSS isn't a separate character (or at least, probably not).

Zero Suit Samus is still a seperate character, but only in the same way that Sheik was seperate to Zelda in the original game.

I told people this was how the change would take place, but did they believe me? Even after the video? Noooo.

Of course, there may be other ways to switch between the two of them...

yes, LionHarted I agree with you here and I've noticed many people whining because they expected her to be a stand-alone. But supposedly, if it is possible to start the match as ZSS then would her Final Smash regenerate the armor?

I mean sure, the Final Smash triggers ZSS, but take this in context with Adventure mode. When Zelda/Sheik transform she stays in the same state at the beginning of the in the next match so would this apply to 0 Sammy too?
