You're being pretty darn hypocritical there, Fyxe. :3

Such slander. Explain your accusatory comment or I'll SUE.

Alright, but I'll have to do a little rant of my own to explain, so don't go calling me a hypocrite. X3
It's natural for people to be complaining a bit. It's not that we're complaining, even; we're being skeptical. It's to be expected when we have a huge game on the horizon, one of which has a tremendously successfull game to somehow improve upon, and we're getting little hint after hint. It makes sense to wonder how everything is going to piece together, and thus, as I said, be skeptical about it. When Melee came out half the items didn't make much sense, but after playing it a bit it all seemed to piece together. It's good to be skeptical because it gives people something to look out for, so even if they're complaining the main thing is that they're taking enough of an interest in the game to already be trying to picture how it is all going to work. However, really, all of the comments about whether or not an aspect of the upcoming game seems like it'll work have been small. The reason I pointed out how you were being hypocritical is how everyone is just making a small comment about whether or not they like the idea as of now, but then you came out with a rant of complaints out of nowhere about how everyone is complaining (and for some reason not thinking things through) without realising that they're opinions and it's better to be pointing out the differences and our preferences on those differences than to just smile, nod, and copy+paste each update into the thread. So, really, in that rant you were more guilty of the silly complaints than the people you were directing that at.
In your defense, it is understandable; it just looks like a nerve was hit and you needed to rant. But ya' gotta' understand that this whole thread is here to talk about the game and everyone's opinion on it - whether positive or negative - and not just to repeat what's being posted on the SSBB site and go along with it.

Sorry about the rant, by the way; I hope I didn't deviate much, as I typed it rather quickly.

"Think their complaints through?"

What the hell are you talking about?

We are all allowed to make comments which aren't praises towards the game. It doesn't mean we dislike the game. Give me any game that I absolutely love and I will be able to give you some things about it that I would change - does that mean I'm complaining? No. If I prefer Fox's old appearance to his new one, you can bet your furry ass I'm going to say something about it. Why? Because I'm somebody who plans on getting the game. I'm somebody who is looking forward to it. Who CARES if it's a small picky detail or not? If we all had nothing but positive comments, this thread would go nowhere except to see who's the first to make a reply with "TODAYS UPDATE OMG".

YOUR complaint is the one that should have been thought through. Without a moment's hesitation, you get offended by people "complaining" about something you absolutely love (which hasn't even come out yet) and go into a tirade about it without thinking "is this rant justified, or am I just being a short-tempered baby?".

Riiiight.

Yeah, thinking people are being extensively nickpicky means I'm a short-tempered baby.

What the. Methinks you both really took my post in SO the wrong way. I would have thought that the amusing picture should have made it clear that I wasn't exactly deeply serious on the issue. I was having a rant. You guys seemed to take it very seriously and decided to pull apart my logic in a desperate attempt to prove me wrong. o.o

I don't want to be drawn into a massive arguement again, especially not with Mr. Lets-Argue-With-Fyxe. *Claps* Well done, you got me. You're so right. I must be shamed for thinking that people complaining about Zelda's hair colour is just a tad nickpicky (especially considering such complaints are at least a year too late, because Twilight Princess has been out for a long while now).

Just to make it CLEAR to you Flint, I was not 'offended', I did not go on a 'tirade' and no matter how many emotive words you use to make me appear like an whiny 'short-tempted baby', that doesn't make me one.

I also said that I would not defend this game that I supposedly 'absolutely love' (I think you'll find it's the SERIES I love, and I'm not exactly alone in that, thank you very much) if someone came up with a genuine worry that they feel could break the game. For instance, I'M concerned about the fact that I have not yet witnessed the appearance of the shield from the previous games. I'm worried that it may not even exist, which *could* detrimentally affect gameplay.

Look, what set me off is the idea that the designers are throwing stuff into the game without thinking. The idea that they'd chuck in a banana peel for shits and giggles and not think 'hey wait, how is this going to work for gameplay?' is ludicrous. Can I not get a smidgen of agreement on that point? My whole 'tirade' of complaints was just, um, one real complaint. I do so dearly apologise for the rant, because I know how nobody else ever goes on rants around here. *COUGH*

Ps: I feel I should add that my post wasn't even directed at this message board in particular, it was aimed at, well, people in general. People like to nitpick.

ENOUGH.

-ahem-

If you want to argue, do it in PM or IM. Not here. If someone starts to argue, don't argue back - if anything, PM me about it, and I can deal with it.

Debates are one thing. Arguments are another, and I will not have it here. That's the last I want to hear of this in this thread, this forum, and anywhere else that's in the public eye.

Seconded. "Wario" and "flatulence" are fine and dandy in the same sentence, but "cute" should never be anywhere near either of them.

Anyway, is anyone else a bit skeptical about the custom controls? I mean, at face value, it sounds neat, but considering that they've advocated using the Cube controllers, you've got to wonder how useful it's actually going to be.

Well, a very interesting update today, I feel. I'm presuming that these Trophy Assists work very much like Pokeballs. But I'm also assuming that you have to 'earn' them before they appear... Basically, you need to collect the trophy before they will help during a battle. This would make trophy collecting a lot more interesting if it's the case.

It also brings up a small point I considered. I wonder if the Item Switch this time around lets you chose what Pokemon will come out of Pokeballs? Or Trophies from Trophy Assists, for that matter. I hope we can chose, that'd be a very nice addition. Electrodes all around.

I think it's really weird to introduce a specific Trophy Assist without first explaining exactly what they are or how they work. Only clue we have is that it's an Item because of where it is on the site.

I'm hoping Brawl has an item called Item Switch. Have it only appear with Item Switch (the option) is turned off. When a player uses the item, Items are turned back on. Anything to give stuck-up tourneytards a punch in the face.

I thought that the update where it shows the Hammer Bro and the Nintendog was explaining what and how they work? I mean, I don't think there is much else to explain. They're like Pokeballs but with trophy characters, I presume.

Well, I'm glad we finally got Samurai Goroh in here, somehow. I had been hooping that each franchise of characters would have an enemy that would serve as their boss in story mode (Bowser, Ganondorf, Mewtwo etc.) but this is a nice way of going about it.

Maybe we'll see Raiden? :arcee:

Hm, odd. I didn't see that at first. I have an RSS feed bookmarked on my Firefox toolbar which always has the latest update at the top. Either I just didn't notice a new update below Samurai Goroh or it didn't show up. I'll have to check that again when I get home, to make sure i'm not crazy.

Nah, we already saw Pokéballs, remember?

Anyway, this is freakin' awesome. I can't wait to see what other characters there are. And with some of the first 25 Smash Bros. possibly not being playable (was that confirmed anywhere?), hopefully they'll at least be Trophy Assist characters.

The update is above Goroh, at least on the English/European version of the website. They put the updates that way around so that people would not see Goroh and think 'Oh, he's a new character! Oh, wait...'.

cool update, I can't wait to see who we could have had in the game!

*Does a little dance* Horray! All hail the king!

I figured he would show up, but it's nice to see him, and nice to see that he hasn't changed much visually at all (despite looking shinier and more detailed, obviously). Sounds like he's got a bit of a revamp, I wonder how that'll play out, I'm hoping for increased range. Judging from the second screenshot, it might be part of it.

It's probably only a matter of time before Captain Falcon, Marth and some of the other veterans return. Sakurai did note that Bowser will play a little different then in melee. I wonder though what will become of the 'clones' such as Ganondorf...

As long as there are plenty of unique fighters, a few clones here and there don't bother me. Still, after Ganondorf's showing in Twilight Princess I'd hope they made a version of him that reflects his style a bit better than "Slower, stronger Captain Falcon"

Re: Bowser. Woo! He looks great in this version, which is expected. Still, It's nice to see a Mario character rendered with so much detail for a change.

Re: Fyxe, I wasn't really nitpicking, just making a comment about my perception of how useful making your oponent fall down would be. It really all depends on how long it lasts. SSBB is by farm my most antidcipated game of 2007, so I'm not complaining.

A permanent Giga Bowser could still be a boss, maybe for an Event, I wouldn't be surprised.

I could see this one coming, but I didn't want to jinx it because it's pure awesome. Playable Giga Bowser! I'm so glad I'm a Bowser fan.

I was waiting for someone to say that after her post. :prime:

Anyway, this is pretty sweet - so while a Giga Bowser will be around for an Event, I'm hopibng they give us a brand new boss for story mode. Certainly, don't get rid of the hands, but we need something else.

ah, I don't seem to know MGS enough to figure that out perhaps.

So were you expecting me to say: "Terra Bowser" as the new boss in Adventure mode too. :P No, frankly I have know idea what the game creators might come up with this time round, we'll just have to wait. Although I except the Wire frames to return as well.

As for Ganondorf this would make a nice match up (eventhough this is OoT's Ganon):

I could definitely see Ganon being put into the game after two strong appearances in the 3D Zeldas, notably the two most popular. Now, which version specifically is a different story. Personally, while I much prefered the fight in TP, I think I'd rather see them put in OoT Ganon, and I'm sure they would based on his greater frame. There's a lot more they could do with his sword attacks than TP Ganon's raw physical combat.

And I've seen some people say that they wouldn't want Ganondorf to just have a copy of Bowser's Final Smash, but the way I see it some of them are going to probably end up being similar anyway. I can't really see them coming up with a completely unique idea for each and every last character, especially since there will probably be even more fighters this time.

Now THAT is sweet. Giga Bowser looks even better than he did in SSBM... I can't wait to try that out! I'm guessing that since this is a Final Smash, his attacks will be even more devastating than before.

Today's update is one for the Zelda fans. Which means... Most people here. Including me. This stage looks gorgeous! Me likey, I love the concept, it's nice to see such a large stage. And it's got just enough quirkiness to piss off the tourneyites.

Interestingly (or not very interestingly), the stage is based on the Gamecube version. So if you look at the background and get confused about the layout of the land, remember it's reversed from the one you're used to, reverted to the 'correct' way.
