B= Battles/no. of times the character has fought
W= Wins/no. of kills
L= Losses/no. of times they have been killed throughout the course of the game

Total number of battles, total number of won battles, and total number of loses. Loses are when they die... even if you restart the level, the game keeps track of them.

EDIT: CUrse you Seti! ;)

Which is what I would have guessed if I had counted on Nintendo being so tricksy and keeping track of such things. I thought to myself "How can they lose a battle if the death wasn't saved? Does not compute..."

Anyway, I wish they had invested some of that tricksiness in less predictable plot twists.

Am I also to take it that the epilogue was meant to connect this game to Final Emblem 6? 'Cause that just provides the false hope of Final Fantasy 6 being released in America (and remaining inferior to Advance Wars) under the name Fire Emblem 2 or some similarly number-defeating title.

EDIT: Yikes...I did indeed commit blasphemy, but not of the reason Lord of Shadow mistakingly thought.

Fire Emblem = Fire Emblem

You're pretty much right on al that, SteveT.

Aside from the blasphemous Advance Wars comment... but I'll pretend you didn't say that ;)

Fire Emblem has the player controlling non-expendable characters who are in generally outnumbered by inferior opponents.

Advance wars uses (partially) expendable units outnumbered by equally powerful opponents. Thus, if you take Fire Emblem as a strategy game, Advance Wars is the clear victor. The strategy element (since it is pure) is much stronger.

However, if you take Fire Emblem to be an RPG (which you can't do because you play it), then you're trying ot compare games from different genres, which doesnt' work so well.

I'm simply comparing the amount of fun I had with each game, technicalities aside. x.x

In that case, your opinion is entirely valid. I'm just saying that Advance Wars is a much better example of a strategy game. Although, arguably the genres don't entirely overlap well enough to warrant an objective comparison.

Actually it depends which FE's you compare....

Compare something like FEG, FE5 and FE6 Hard mode, than you have something more along the lines of a Strategy. However Strategy RPG isn't even a actual genre....the original coined phrase was S-RPG by Nintendo 's' standing for Simulation however US turned that genre into Strategy RPG.

Bah, you RPG fans just can't stand all the gameplay. I am proud of Nintendo for tricking you into playing a game with Fire Emblem, though. They did a good job with that. They had to hide it under plot and character development, but whatever it takes...

(RPG bashing is so easy, sometimes it's not even fun.)

I'd say it's very much a genre now. A very small one, but it's there. Games like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics would be called Strategy RPGs regardless of what the designers called them.

The point is the term is incorrectly used and very broad....

Oh and Advance Wars is pretty easy....that kinda put me off getting AW2.

Advance Wars 2 was much tougher. I'm horribly stuck in the Green Earth campaign.

The final level on AW2 hard mode is insane. I don't see how you can consider that easy. x.x

Is there anyway that someone could inform me on all of the final bosses in the Fire Emblem series. Of course I would want it to be in Spoiler format so no one else would see something they wouldn't want to see, but I was just wondering if anyone has the information.

Thanks Sety you are amazing. I have sort of an obsession of knowing every Nintendo villain there is, and I try frantically to find out what the Fire Emblem bosses are, but I really couldn't find the information on the net, except for maybe just a few. So I thank you and commend you for your great Fire Emblem knowledge. Does anyone know when Fire Emblem for Gamecube is coming out, and is it coming to the U.S.?

 Weird... that sounds as if the bosses are closely related. A dragon or demon is always the ultimate boss in FE games?

No release date yet and its assumed for Christmas release in Japan and only guesses so far for US release....with FE8 unreleased yet theres little chance of a date coming yet.

Not really....Beldo is a Dark Priest but then again FE5 was a sidestory and a small subplot within FE4. Yurius was a a Dark Prince, although he was the reincarnation of a pact between a Dark Earth Dragon and a human.

Just a curiosity, but how many of you guys train your units in the arenas?

*looks at Lvl 1 Sage Erk, Lvl 4 Paladin Sain, Lvl 1 Falcon Knight Fiora gained in Chapter 21*

Hm... let's see: I remember having Marcus, Isadora, Hector, Nino and Lucius in the arena. Not bad for a bishop to be there but Lucius' powerful spells were tempting.

I mostly just used it to level up Priscilla so I could get her to level 20 so I could premote her sometime before Chapter 30ish without cutting her stats.

Those units were just the end result of trying that.

Also got Ninian to level 15 while cheaping Nini's Grace/Rescue glitch after Priscilla got premoted to finish the leveling cap.

This is also my third playthough, so its not as bad as doing this the first time.
