No........but compared to other FE's the difficulty is a joke but its still tough enough compared to your average S-RPG

Yes FE is turn based...

TJ: Roughly 23 chapters, with the 10 Ruin stagess and 9 Tower levels 42 chapters altogether roughly. Although with alternate routes I believe theres even more, since theres a Ephram campaign and Eirike campaign.

L-o-S and Sety, both of you almost made me dumbfounded. Normally I'm not the kind of a person who goes out to gaming sites to look for news and downloads but when I looked at the urls that both of you provided, I couldn't believe what I saw.

I thought Fire Emblem was only for GBA but now I see that it's in Game Cube too-- with enhanced graphics! Maybe should I buy one GC for myself? It costs lots of money.... maybe I should wait a few more years for the price to go down.

No, but any info there is WILL get posted at FESS... And quickly, too. So I'll lurk around in there ;) It's how I get all of my news, actually... forums. I never check any actual sites.

So... erm. Cool screenshots. Yeah.

And the FMV is very nice, or it seems to be. There aren't any huge stylistic changes between the gameplay and FMV scenes, so no jarring changes or anything. That's always a good thing.

Yay for FMV. There is a ridiculously little amount of GC games that have that. ^^

November 04, 2004 - The last time Fire Emblem appeared on a home console was during the days of the Super Famicom. Following three Game Boy Advance entries, the series is at last ready to make a return to the home on the GameCube. We got a chance to try out Fire Emblem: Sousen no Kiseki at the Nintendo World Touch! DS event on Wednesday and were able to get a good idea of what can be expected from the game.

Nintendo had the game set up on just a couple of kiosks, making the wait to play unbearably long. Two levels were selectable for the demo: an early, easy level featuring lots of intermittent story telling, and a battle seven levels into the game featuring enemies en masse. Both demos began with the same impressive animated opening featuring some of the finest toon shaded CG we've seen in a game; Nintendo must have spent a lot on this thing!

If you've played the Game Boy Advance games, Fire Emblem won't be too alien an experience in its GameCube debut. The game retains many of the characteristic features that have become standard for the series. The battle setup is the same, with players taking turns with the enemy, moving their units on a grid and choosing to attack, use items and so-forth. This was our first time playing the GameCube version, but we were able to start off immediately with the more advanced demo.

Presentation also continues with series' tradition. Fans of the series will recognize the fonts and the transition between enemy and ally turns. The story is told in similar fashion, with still, hand-drawn character shots placed in front of static, hand-drawn backgrounds. Developer Intelligent Systems has even retained some of the 16-bit sound effects for the game (we wouldn't have it any other way!).

There's one major difference in the area of presentation: 3D visuals. Much like the upcoming GameCube Advance Wars, Intelligent Systems has gone the 3D route with Sousen no Kiseki. The visuals, including maps and battle-based characters are all polygonal, ditching the sharp 2D of previous entries. We're a bit disappointed at the quality of some of the visuals, as the characters are lacking a bit in detail. The problem is particularly notable with beasts upon which some of the characters ride.

The switch to 3D has brought with it a change to more elaborate battle cut scenes. The game switches to a close up view of the action as characters attack one another. In the demo version, there was a slight pause before a cut scene began, but Nintendo has assured us that this will be cleaned up to make a smooth experience in the final version. And even then, if you don't want to see the same cut scene over and over again, you can opt to switch the cut scenes off and have the characters attack one-another directly over the battle field.

It's worth mentioning that the final version of the title will feature some additional elements that weren't present in the demo. A new skill system will let players select skills to have their units memorize. Units will be able to gain a "Secret" skill, which makes them lose old skills that they'd previously learned, replacing them with a powerful personalized skill. The game will feature all-new units that can actually change form in battle, something that we don't recall having seen in previous entries. Finally, players can look forward to a new battle command which lets strong units force weaker units to move one square on the battle grid; this feature should be useful to push a character just out of reach of an enemy.

These gameplay additions should add even more strategy to the strategy-heavy Fire Emblem experience. Combine the new gameplay options with the classic presentation, which has been perfected over years of development, and all that remains is some tweaking of the game's visuals and attack animations. The Nintendo representative told us that we'll probably have to wait until February before playing the final Japanese version of Fire Emblem: Sousen no Kiseki, but as huge fans of the series, we'll wait.

IGN's impressions on the game.

Yes, too little amount games indeed, especially too little amount of Nintendo games. Fire Emblem is super addictive and super much fun!!!!! I own it for almost two days and have been playing it almost non-stop! Why didn't I open my eyes for this earlier, was I on Mars or something.

Seima no Kouseki means along the lines of The Saint/Demon Jewels and Souen no Kiseki is along lines of Trails of the Blue Flame.

Does that mean those were screenshots from two different games of Fire Emblem? I thought they were both of the same game.

There's one thing that I do not know: which part of the storyline does that Game Cube version of Fire Emblem fit? Just after the GBA versions, perhaps?

And it's likely that Fire Emblem 2 is just a working title.

Let me guess....do you guys get news of incoming games from the official Nintendo website? That's the only website I like to visit for information and entertainment but I haven't been there for almost 2 years since my last visit.

Official Nintendo site is the worse place for information....I mean just a few months ago they got the names of the main characters of FE7 wrong......-.-

I get my information straight from main sources and also the forum posted up earlier.

You all sound like you think Fire Emblem is really easy. I don't know if this makes me mediocre or what, but I find the game pretty difficult. Maybe you aren't as uptight as me about not letting characters die? You all just seem so good at the game.....

On a side note, The GCN Fire Emblem looks awesome.....

That is insanely cool, TJ. You should be proud.

Silver Mage: my first time through, it seemed tough as hell. Now... when I've got everything memorized, know how to play, and am capable of leveling up all my characters to 20/20 long before they need to be... well, it's easy.

But yeah, I had a hard time my first time through. And I am very uptight about letting characters die ;) Just a few days ago, I spent several hours arena leveling, and then I thought what the heck, I'll let Marcus try. And he was killed.

And, even though he's a character that's not important to me at all, that I would never use again.. I restarted.

Yeah, I'm just like you los. I never let anyone die, even if they're completely useless. XD

I had a lot of trouble my first time too, I had to restart almost every mission because somebody would die. I suppose I'm just more used to the gameplay now. o.o

Well being a FE5 player FE7 seems naturally easier to me....however a FE7 player who goes straight onto FE7 could expect to be stuck for months especially if your trying to get all characters and not let any die.

FE5 tends to FORCE you to use other characters with its fatigue system and AI.

I did one playthrough and got to night of farewells, but I just can't beat it. In that file I failed to get whoever that thief is you get at dread isle. Now I'm doing a second file for the heck of it and somehow I wasn't able to do the sidequest in which you get the ONLY shaman in the game, Canas......still, I managed to rank up Erk as soon as the pirate ship mission and I was wiser in stopping Marcus from taking EXP away from units who are much better at higher levels, so I'm hoping I'll do better later on...
