I just wish there will be a marth-like character. Maybe they'll put in Stefen or Mia...

This looks interesting, to use your own taunts in a brawl with others.

Wi-Fi's Been Confirmed!!
WOOT.
XD So it is true! Now with that out of the way, I can patiently await for anything Nintendo throws at us concerning brawl.

Except.....
Well, it's also a bit wierd. Don't get me wrong, I'm massively happy that online play is confirmed. But if you're playing with a non-friend, you don't even get to see their USER NAME, or keep any record of your wins/losses.
Surely they could have implemented a 'Just For Fun' and a 'Leaderboard' mode.

I'm sure playing against friends will have record keeping.

It does record them for friend battles if I look at what Sakurai wrote.

No voice-chat can also be a pain in the arse, but there are ways...
Anyway, the game will probably be played even beyond the time-frame of this generation... so there is more then enough time for Nintendo to implement many online features into the game. The page itself says that there are features left out, so who knows what they will do with it.

Fuck voice chat. I don't want to hear whiny ten year olds trading insults.
And fuck leaderboards. Nobody with a life ever gets on those things.
I'm happy there's no stupid records or anything, I'd be much more inclined to play knowing that I'll be playing for fun and not knowing the whole game is silently judging my performance against obsessive play-for-24-hours-a-day nerdaholics.
It'll weed out the wavedashing (if it exists) tournytards, which is frankly brilliant.

I'm content with the options provided, even though there will be the expected lag (I figured as much). The only thing that could make this better is voice chat, then it would be flawless. And even still, there's always the telephone, so no big worries.
Yay!!

The output signal is completely insignificant, and isn't even an issue these days (PAL TVs play both types, and most games run 60Hz by default nowdays). But regardless, latency would prevent any decent matches between continents. There is just one thing I just realized... Is the 60 Hz NTSC version compatible with the 50 Hz PAL during online play? If not one only has communities as in Europe/Australia and US/Asia.
Also, was I the only one who noticed that player one?s name is "Noodl(e)"? And what's up with the blurred text?

I like that one of the names is 'Elbow'.

Don't you see? No record keeping means you won't get drop outs.
Or not. I get drop outs on Internet Reversi.

You know what?
Fuck voice chat. I don't want to hear whiny ten year olds trading insults.
Well the voice chat implementation would mostly be used with friends in my situation, but like I said, there are ways.
My computer is placed very near to where I usually play consoles so... all you need is something like Teamspeak and the problem is solved.
It'll weed out the wavedashing (if it exists) tournytards, which is frankly brilliant.
Amen to that!

Damn. Suddenly, that router becomes a higher priority.

Very excited now though, and Fyxe is right about the online stuff. Not keeping scores will fix everything that was wrong with Metroid Prime: Hunters, Mario Kart, etc...

No voice chat? Oh well. That's annoying unless you're playing with someone you already know. And I'm scared of you crazy people, so less you know about what I sound like/who I am, the better.

(And it's okay, sauron, I've only gotten to play a few minutes of Melee, so I'll be in the same boat - we can kick the crap out of each other for practice)
Cool. I am so gonna...get my ass kicked.
Not having voice chat is a positive for me really...nobody wants to hear my Texas drawl. Okay, I don't really sound THAT southern, but it does slip out every now and then.
