We have seen some of his special moves (e.g. aether) and it does look like he's different from both of them. But he's probably slow and strong like Roy instead of quick and agile as Marth.

Woo, Golden Hammer. The theory that this game seems to be designed to annoy the tourney-tards seems more and more plausible.

Maybe there will be an item that only comes when all or most other items are turned off. Think I've read that idea here before though....

I just wish there will be a marth-like character. Maybe they'll put in Stefen or Mia...

Indeed, and so is the Sandbag! :D

This looks interesting, to use your own taunts in a brawl with others.

XD So it is true! Now with that out of the way, I can patiently await for anything Nintendo throws at us concerning brawl.

WOOOOO....

Except.....

Well, it's also a bit wierd. Don't get me wrong, I'm massively happy that online play is confirmed. But if you're playing with a non-friend, you don't even get to see their USER NAME, or keep any record of your wins/losses.

Surely they could have implemented a 'Just For Fun' and a 'Leaderboard' mode.

Don't you see? No record keeping means you won't get drop outs. But I guess they could've had Leaderboard and Just For Fun. Ah well.

I'm sure playing against friends will have record keeping.

It does record them for friend battles if I look at what Sakurai wrote.

No voice-chat can also be a pain in the arse, but there are ways...

Anyway, the game will probably be played even beyond the time-frame of this generation... so there is more then enough time for Nintendo to implement many online features into the game. The page itself says that there are features left out, so who knows what they will do with it.

You know what?

Fuck voice chat. I don't want to hear whiny ten year olds trading insults.

And fuck leaderboards. Nobody with a life ever gets on those things.

I'm happy there's no stupid records or anything, I'd be much more inclined to play knowing that I'll be playing for fun and not knowing the whole game is silently judging my performance against obsessive play-for-24-hours-a-day nerdaholics.

It'll weed out the wavedashing (if it exists) tournytards, which is frankly brilliant.

Agreed. Sadly I never play the online modes in Mario Kart DS, Star Fox, or other such games because it's so much of a pain to have to wait on matches. Then you can either lose or almost win but have someone disconnect.

Ah ha! Patience, once again you pull through. This time, you helped many eager souls while in the Brawl/WiFI limbo, including mine. This is certainly good news, especially since we can all brawl here on the forum as friends. Chatting and stuff will be absolutely great!

I'm content with the options provided, even though there will be the expected lag (I figured as much). The only thing that could make this better is voice chat, then it would be flawless. And even still, there's always the telephone, so no big worries.

Yay!!

There is just one thing I just realized... Is the 60 Hz NTSC version compatible with the 50 Hz PAL during online play? If not one only has communities as in Europe/Australia and US/Asia.

The output signal is completely insignificant, and isn't even an issue these days (PAL TVs play both types, and most games run 60Hz by default nowdays). But regardless, latency would prevent any decent matches between continents.

Also, was I the only one who noticed that player one?s name is "Noodl(e)"? And what's up with the blurred text?

The blurred text is a Wii's code. They obviously don't really want everyone adding the developer guy's number to their Wii. >.>

I like that one of the names is 'Elbow'.

Looks like there's a five letter limit for names... Dang. My name's six.

Or not. I get drop outs on Internet Reversi.

Well the voice chat implementation would mostly be used with friends in my situation, but like I said, there are ways.

My computer is placed very near to where I usually play consoles so... all you need is something like Teamspeak and the problem is solved.

Amen to that! wich consists of mostly the people that I know that plays smash... you know the whole playing with items is a sin type. But hey, I don't hate them so what can I do <_<

LA Brawl tourney, anyone? Not, like, TOURNEY tourney. Like, low-key, bunch-of-people-who-play-for-fun tourney.

Damn. Suddenly, that router becomes a higher priority.

Finally, FINALLY I can commit to this game. I just wasn't going to get it without online, because well...I'd have nobody to play it with otherwise. If I ever get to play any of you, though I will surely be decimated seeing as how Smash Bros. will be completely new to me. I never got Brawl either for the same reason listed above.

Very excited now though, and Fyxe is right about the online stuff. Not keeping scores will fix everything that was wrong with Metroid Prime: Hunters, Mario Kart, etc...

Pretty much what sauron said. I don't do big multiplayer type games because I have no one around here to game with. But with online, and a potential LA networky thing... maybe. Of course, it all depends on if my rebellious internet wants to cooperate. (And it's okay, sauron, I've only gotten to play a few minutes of Melee, so I'll be in the same boat - we can kick the crap out of each other for practice)

No voice chat? Oh well. That's annoying unless you're playing with someone you already know. And I'm scared of you crazy people, so less you know about what I sound like/who I am, the better. ;)

Heck, you could just run a voice chat client on your computer. Which would work well for me, since I have my Wii plugged into my computer anyways.

Cool. I am so gonna...get my ass kicked.

Not having voice chat is a positive for me really...nobody wants to hear my Texas drawl. Okay, I don't really sound THAT southern, but it does slip out every now and then.

I don't like records either. I don't want to see how many times I've had my ass handed to me on a platter by 4 level 9 Jigglypuff's.

No comments on the absolutely awesome enemy designs? Honestly, I haven't seen designs this original for ages. Some are just plain excellent. I can only hope Mario Galaxy has designs nearly as unique as some of these.

Of course, they look phenominal, but my only gripe is that I don't really know how well those...creatures will work in the fast-paced action sidescroller that is our beloved Smash Bros. But, that's also why I want to be proven wrong.

That guy has been getting some amazing cameos lately.
