As for the questions about Samus without her costume, I think I can elucidate the matter just a bit.

Obviously, that Samus won't be able to Screw Attack, fire missiles, or turn into a morph ball. It is based off the part of Zero Mission after you slay the Mother Brain but lose your suit when your ship is shot down. This Samus has different abilities. She's probably more melee oriented, seing as she has an energy sword.

In Zero Mission, she also had a stun pistol that could knock out Space Pirates for a bit, but not kill them. I suspect that this will be treated something like the standard laser gun SSB item from the first two games, only maybe with some sort of paralysis effect.

And honestly, it's Samus in a skintight cyan jump suit. How can you complain about it? :D

It always struck me as more of a energy whip, but I guess I'll just have to go and watch that trailer again!

The game looks beautiful, I'm really excited about the new characters, but I really wish they'd introduce some more. It'd be awesome to see Nintendo just go all out with this version of Smash Bros. and introduce and insane amount of new characters from any companies that'll give them the license. Bring in even more of the non-Nintendo audience, just so they can play as their favorite character and beat the crap out of Mario. Hopefully, if they miss the opportunity at launch to include more characters from other companies, they'll allow new characters to be dowloaded through their 24 service. That could even be extended into new levels and stages, making Brawl a never-ending game. I'd be up for that. I'm also extremely happy that they didn't force the motion control into a game that doesn't really need it - it also means that I'll already know how to do half the moves right off the bat, just from plugging in my GC controller.

I don't think it's just a matter of adding characters from other franchises. I heard that Kojima practically begged Nintendo to add Snake into Brawl. *shrugs*

Also there's a huge archive of Nintendo characters to choose from, but in this day and age they mightbe considered too obscure and go virtually unrecognised. Then again I think characters like Custom Robo's Ray Mk. II have potential, but that's just me y'know? Doing me. *shrugs again*

There's a poll up on Nintendo of Japan's website asking which new characters people would like to see in it.

He begged to put Snake into MELEE. And that was before everyone knew what a great success the Smash Broters series would become. :P

Well, awesome that there's gunna be another smash game, the graphics don't look amazing (Many computer games 1-2 years old that simply look better), but they're not bad. However, if the Wii doesn't have HD capability (does it?) then those graphics are pretty weak, considering it'll only ever be doing 640x480.

1) What do you expect? It's not the PS3 And no, Wii isn't HD. That would drive the price of the system up.

2) Smash Brothers never looks as good as the system can do.

3) This was an early trailer anyway. It is likely it will be touched up by the time it is released next year.

4) Graphics aren't everything, especially in a game as frenetic as Smash Bros.

How can they suddenly become "weak" because of the lack of HD, when they look good even without it? It's not like HD makes huge difference anyway (Nor do I have an HD TV).

Would you stop saying that? I'm not saying you're wrong, but we simply do not know how this game will fare in comparison to other Wii games. SSBM was an amazing step-up from the outright crappy-looking SSB, and by the looks of it, SSBB will have a ton of features and special effects that SSBM lacked.

In almost every case, games released around the launch of the system are never as good as those that follow later - be it the PlayStation, Xbox, Gamecube, SNES, whatever. It looks better, for sure, but I reaaaaally wouldn't even use any launch games on any system to determine how nice the games will look later on.

And while Melee looked nice, for certain, it didn't show the full capability of the GCN. It's Smash Bros. Not a series known for having overly fancy, omfg, work-of-art type visuals. :P

Yes, I pointed that out to Chaltab earlier when he said Melee wasn't reflective of what the GC could do. Thing is, like you said, Melee was a launch title. However, Brawl isn't.

Melee wasn't a launch title - it came out three weeks later. In this country, anyway.

Apparently the castle stage in the video is from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance as it has the crest of Daein.

I've checked the crest... The style is similar to Daein's, but it isn't the same. IMO, it's probably something from Fire Emblem, but it isn't Daein.

SSBM had great character models, but many backgrounds and items were N64 level...

I think he has a point, but not just because of the previous games of the series (this one seems to have a higher budget) or because it was a launch title. SSBB seems to show big backgrounds along with many moving objects in some scenarios (like the unknown castle), and that will limit the graphics, compared to something like Metal Gear or Resident Evil.

Wrong. There's a very noticeable difference between a game running in SD and the same game running in HD, and that gap is going to increase as the next-generation progresses.

Unless I am gravely mistaken, HD is exactly what it says - Higher resolution textures. Not a big deal in my opinion.

True. But those moving objects are a kind of graphical improvement as well. In fact, support for such things is one of the areas where the Wii really has improved compared to the GC.

Kind of. I'm not a PC expert so I can't be sure, but I think the resolutions between TVs has a greater impact on a game's visuals than PC monitors do.

To be honest, it all depends on how well your television (or VCR) displays your video game goodness through that scart you *should* have.

On my Tv, EVERY game looks gorgeous. Even N64 games. Crisp and beautiful.

Melee was such a stunning leap forward I am not surprised Brawl isn't that much of a jump in fanciness, but remember, it isn't coming out until 2007, and is still clearly using a largely unmodified Melee engine. It will update, it will be tweaked and it will look even better when it's released.

Not that I care, it looks gorgeous anyway.

Or rather...

PIT looks gorgeous. I want his babies. He is HOT.

PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT.

But I must say that he has a freakin' awesome character model in this game. How do you take a 12-ish angel boy and make him look like a total bad@$$? NINTENDO KNOWS THE ANSWER!

He did used to look really rubbish; even his trophy in Melee was lame. Honestly, hearts on his arrows? And that HAIR.
Seemed based on how he looked in the original Kid Icarus, on the Game Boy version he looked a little better, thanks to the crown of thorns thing. Still pretty lame though.

But now he looks sexarific. Wait, 12? How old is Pit, anyway? I was hoping for 'boy toy' age rather than 'cradle snatcher'. >.>

And D~N, Samus IS hot. Not as hot as Pit though.

Yeah. Especially when you consider that Pit is a minor and Samus isn't. ;)

I know I've posted this image previously, but I wanted to point out something to fellow Zelda fans. Notice Link's sword. It isn't the Master Sword in this shot.

The Master Sword doesn't ahve the blood groove down the middle in any games except Ocarina of Time and the original SSB. Other shots of SSBB show that the Master Sword appears as it does in Wind Waker and SSBM.

The point of this being to ask: You think this is just a mistake, or perhaps an indication that Link will have multiple weapon models?
