I always imagined the day when Smash Brothers took in characters from other companies, and it was always somebody a bit more.. fitting, like cloud, dante, ratchet&clank, or.. wait.. who's that one guy microsoft is known for? master chief?

But guys like Cloud and Dante will follow, more than likely, if the third party trend keep goin' on. But so far sounds like a good portion of the gamers are overly excited about teh box boy. Or about skin-tight Samus. One or the other.
Master Chief, though? I think he enlisted in Dead Or Alive, didn't he? I think there's some unwritten video game manual that says you should only be allowed into one fighting series at a time. Lest you be labelled a game whore. Or thereabouts.

Pfft, Cloud and Dante? Self-loathing spikey haired guy and wannabe badass demon slayer? I think Snake's probably a pretty good choice if Nintendo wants to let third parties join in the mayhem. He's on every system now, well loved by a good portion of gamers, and for those who've gotten the games with the extras... he can prove to be pretty funny half the time.

Yeah I know Cloud and Dante are just overrated prettyboys, i'm not saying i'd recommend them. It's just.. I can picture them fighting better than I can snake. What's he got? A gun and a box? The box is amusing, don't get me wrong. And Fox and Samus are gun characters and they work well. Snake just seems like.. he'd look awkward.

But then again, Wario's attack is a fart, so there've been stranger things.
( and yes, good point, Jabba, Snake was on the NES for a time. Even though he's still third party and was originally on the MSX. XP )

If you don't see any difference might I suggest having your eyes examnied. The PS3 model is normal mapped for Shigeru's sake!
It really doesn't matter, though. The SSB models are never as good as the system can do, and the Wii isn't about graphics anyway. Nintendo made it a weaker system to keep the price down and focus on innovation instead of flashly graphics.

Ignoring the fact that that image was from last year's trailer, yeah, there is. Not talking about Snake being older in one then the other either.
With Snake in here, and given how they said that they're "in talks" with other 3rd parties about other characters being included, it'd almost be a crime if Sonic didn't show up. And honestly, provided that it's a good solid game like the last one, it wouldn't be a problem if other folk showed up in here, styles clash or not.
Hell, given how FFVII crazy SE has been, it wouldn't at all be a surprise if they inexplicably stuck Cloud or Tifa in here, in AC gear of course.
Here's hoping that one of Snake's alternate outfit differences will be mullet or no mullet. And that Nintendo just gets rid of the "alternate color" bit and gives the characters full fledged alternate outfits, while I'm at it.

Do you reckon Link is just a representation of all the Links in the series? I know in SSBM he was stated as the hero of time, but he just transformed into TP Link even though hes the same Link 0_o Confused? I know I am.
Who or what do you reckon the boss will be?
Please not that damn Master Hand >_<

Aside from the inclusion of a seperate "Young Link" Link has always just been general Link, regardless of game.
The change you saw in the video was simply the update to the new graphics. You know how Four Swords and Minish Cap use a Wind Waker-esque Link sprite, even though neither of those games have to do with Wind Waker? Same thing. Nintendo's just using the most up-to-date look for him in this incarnation of SSB.

My only guess is that her fighting style will be different, but it's simply a stretch to get more characters. Hopefully they won't simply resort to "clones" like in the last game.fansamus fails it. do they really need two samus? what could she possibly do?
Viewtiful Joe would have been a great addition.

So now I ponder what'll happen to Kirby when he -cough- eats Samus in this guise.
Or Snake. He damn well better get a mullet and bandana.

If TP Link is in this then that can only mean one thing. TP Zelda! And she'll probably have a sword too!
Vaati? They'd have to change the art style a bit but he'd still be cool.

I don't agree with this statement. SSBM looked great, and in whatever ways it was "lacking", it was because it was a launch title. This time it is different, and I do not expect anything but a top-tier game in terms of what the Wii can perform. Luckily, the game already looks awesome, so it can only go up from here. The SSB models are never as good as the system can do,

Eh, it might possibly also be another Zelda/Sheik case, where you can alternate between the Varia suit and body suit version of Samus.

I wish I could say I drew this, but I didn't.

Captain Falcon was my favourite in SSB and Roy was my favourite in SSBM. I found it really difficult to use Captain Falcon in SSBM. He was too fast for his own good. Then again I found most of the characters more difficult to use in SSBM. I don't why but I always felt I could string together more hits in SSB than in SSBM too. My friend was really good at it though. It's like he'd completely figured the game out. He did the same with thing with a PS game called Destrega. I couldn't damage him at all. I must be getting old or something.
