So, two new mechanics shown briefly in the third E3 video but not really detailed just yet, unless people from last night's conference just haven't talked about it yet.

So, Sky Battles, which are basically just battles in the sky (well, yeah) and I'm sure there are a couple mechanics to make it different slightly from just using Flying types and floaters on ground. The Horde battle is what's kinda interesting to me though. I'm sure EV trainers will be pleased at the possibility of it speeding up their madness, and just imagine running into five Audinos at once.

Hahaha. Horde battles are an awesome concept and remind me of all those "wrong neighborhood motherfucker" macros.

Too bad the 3DS doesn't have Achievments/Trophies, since "Conversation of Ninjitsu" for fighting a group of Ninjasks with a Fighting Type would be cool.

Or recreating Pikachu vs. Fearow + 4 Spearow for "Before Most of You Were Born..."

I love Talonflame.

And the rumour is Fairy is immune to Dragon and weak to Poison? Because yay Poison buff! And if Fairy is not very effective against Ice, I'll be one happy trainer.

Ahhh. Yeah, Poison is *not* a good attacking type. That would be a nice change I hadn't considered.

Also, Talonflame is pretty awesome. I'm super tired of all the Flying/Normal and Flying/Water typings.

Even more videos, as E3 ends.

Developer Roundtable Highlights, I wish they'd post the whole thing, there's some cool info about how they took Sugimori's artstyle and applied it to the models and other stuff:

And a FOURTH Gameplay trailer. Really short but a ton of info:

First gym leader is bug type and is a photographer named Viola, and the main character seems to have a gang of buddies runnign around either with him/her or you run into across your journey, rather then just the typical rival and/or buddy. Wonder if these guys'll be Ash's traveling companions in the show.

I'm giddy watching the battle vids. Less excited about whatever silly 'social' features are being shoehorned in.

Has there been any information released on version exclusives aside from the legendaries/mascots? I'm leaning towards Y but I'm not sure how that would work in the long run.

It can "unsheath itself".

It's a pokemon that gets naked.

I guess I'm just no good at keeping up with the current news, but I've heard that the region of the new games is based on France.

Mega Pokemon = Super Sentai/Power Rangers style power ups.

Questioning it, but intrigued.

Held Item evolutions, Move Set requirement evolutions, New Stone Evolution, Complicated location and time setting evolution, FUSION and now this?

Honestly, if the system needs an overhaul give it an overhaul don't just make this more complicated and asinine.

We're at 649+ pokemon with stat distributions, abilities, movesets, hold items, type combinations, EVs and IVs and you're worried about it being complicated?

I feel like the whole "Mega" concept is crossing over into Digimon territory now. Not quite sure how I feel about the idea just yet, although I'm sure it will end up growing on me.

I'm used to playing JRPGs and games filled with stats. Granted, I've never been a champion at them but I'm used to the show none the less. One of these days, maybe I'll finally sit down and play Persona 3.

More news:

Mega formes will be in-battle only so these aren't evolutions and they need to be holding a Mega Stone to access the forme - limiting their competitive viability.

Having thought about this I'm now sold on the idea. Yeah it's Digimonesque, but if you think about it, how do you let older Pokemon have their day in the sun without expanding the Pokedex to unfathomable heights? You give them a Mega forme!

Like how Magmortar and Rhyperior and such were rather pointless evolutions, now guys like Dunsparce can simply get a Mega forme and the fandom rejoices.

The thing with all these new training bits, the exclusive mega evolution things, and so on. You just have to ask yourself: are you ever planning to play competitive?

If you're like the many players who will just play the game itself, maybe screw around with catching them all, then chances are these hidden stats and stuff don't matter. Because you don't need to do specialized training to beat the main game. That's just for competitive chumps.

I think that may be why they went with Mega forms instead of more alternate formes. There's very much a "Look at how cool these are!" factor to them in addition to actual competitive stuff here. If nothing else, the team is just trying out new stuff and I can't fault them for that.

I just want a spinoff game where you're part of a Pokemon themed Sentai theme and, halfway through the game you get these as a power up to sell more toys - uh I mean, fight off the new villains threatening the universe.

I guess I can live with that. It's a bummer for the Pokemon who could've used another legit evolution, like Mawile. But it was stupid to give Blaziken and Ampharos what is in essence a fourth evolution.

The Super Training stuff sounds like it'd be cool at first, but left in the dust quickly.

Playing minigames for EVs instead of mindless grinding sounds like a good idea, except you don't have to pay attention to mindless grinding.
