Technically yes, but that isn't actually a problem the player will have to face, unless they bring back the two rival system again. Even so, you would still have Fire against Grass, so you wouldn't even want to use the secondary type anyways, just like with Water/Fighting on Fire/Psychic and Grass/Dark on Water/Fighting.

I thought it'd feel a bit unfair if one starter was immune to about half of the others movepool, but you make a good point. I suppose it wouldn't be much of an issue.

Third one's got to be Z, to go with a three dimensions theme, right? Like the axes on a graph.

Obviously I'll go with a fire starter. (This one's different to Vulpix because it's a Fennec Fox.)

IM sorta excited but at the same time I haven't played black and white 2. I understand why its on their portable system but really its time to step it up and make a fully expansive wii u mmo style pokemon game,

But people are already buying the Wii U like hotcakes, whereas the 3DS is selling underwhelmingly. This move forces various nerds like myself to actually go out and buy a 3DS.

Out of all the game series Nintendo has released over the years, I don't think I've seen one that really gives the same incentive to go out and buy a console like Pokémon has. New Mario? Eh, I'll wait. New Zelda? Hmm, I don't have the cash right now. New Pokémon? SHIT. FUCKING . . . TAKE MY MONEY. GOTTA GET ON THAT.

Maybe it's the unique factor? Only Pokemon has Pokemon's gameplay, but you can play a platformer or an item-based adventure game whenever you damn well please.

Or perhaps the saturation of Mario games. There's only one Pokemon game every 2-3 years, whereas there are more Mario games than I can keep track of these days.

I've always been a fan of Mario Tax Returns and Mario and Sonic's Heckle Adventure: The Good Ol' Days.

As far as Pokémon goes, it's not like they have the whole market on Monster Taming elements in gaming. Monster Rancher, Digimon, Jade Cocoon had their own takes on the genre and it's been a strong side element in plenty of other RPGs. But you are right, Pokémon is a very unique experience despite it's homogenized feel in Gen V (but this could be said of most Nintendo flagship titles over the past five years). You get a monster friend, catch other monster friends, get a feel for life on the road, fight for your life against other trainers who want nothing more than to crush you while others just want a little healthy competition, compete in a region/nation wide league by collecting the Gym Badges (fucking love that) while working your way to becoming the very best.

That is really all I ever needed from Pokémon, the contest movie stuff is kinda annoying or just uninteresting. I'm a little surprised that the other titles in the Taming field never quite got on board with it. I mean, Digimon World was good with exploration and raising a Digimon was a very involved process where your Mon could become a cyborg T-Rex or a lump of shit (literally) depending on it's stats and how much you cared about it. Not too much for competition though, that aspect was more of a minigame than anything else. Monster Rancher (for the GBA, the only one I have played) focused more on raising (in a completely boring and painstaking way) with competition thrown in and SOME exploration in there, but depending on how you raised your monster there was a chance you'd never get the chance to see the outside world.

I suppose that's why the other Monster Taming games either phased out or have lesser known newer titles, always a good idea but the execution is lacking in one key part or another.

Hmm, Flying Type? Not sure what else it could be besides Normal, and that seems like a waste.

It's so pretty! I want one! *_*

Wait...

I just looked it up and the gender ratio for Eevees is 87.5% male, 12.5% female.

Does that mean the majority of Ninfias will be male? I hope so. XD

It has a name.

Sylveon.

Sylv....Sylph? Keeping mum on the type, but I expect that to leak sooner rather then alter now that even the domestic side's talking about it.

I see Drumpf card and swift being used, but I don't see how that helps differentiate the type either. Huh.

Sylphs are elemental spirits of the air, so I think flying-type is a solid guess.

I'm really excited by the screenies in the post you linked, DJ. Game looks pretty.

And the red legendary looks like a boss from Nier and less like a Pokemon.

Another Eeveelution is great, makes me excited to what else gets an evolution.

Although, I'm wondering if fusion will be a larger gimmick this gen. Reshiram and Zekrom were originally one pokemon. Kyurem can fuse with either. Why stop there? Fuse an Eevee with a Skitty...

Then Pokemon adapts a trait from other monster tamer games like Digimon and Jade Cocoon, which it doesn't need to do because there are plenty of evolution methods already in these games. If anything, they need to simplify the means of how Pokemon evolve so that collecting them all is a more accessible goal.

Not really, it was just random and irrational. Besides, I know better then to ever copy paste that sort of thing.

Not that I have in a few years.

Or ever. Rather. Yes.

...Mewthree?

Mewtwo is in the new movie fighting Genesect, and given how the latter is pretty much the perfect type combo to battle Mewtwo, him getting an upgrade to fight back is a plausible enough story point.

Also, yeah, the website apparently has no idea what the word "subtle" means.

That website isn't very mobile browsing friendly. Popular opinion seems to be that it's just an alt form for Mewtwo, not an entirely new pokemon. Makes sense considering how IT'S PRETTY MUCH THE SAME DAMN POKEMON.
