Yeah, I PM'ed Arturo about that four hours ago.

In my defense, every other time somebody said that Jumbie was a woman everybody would just act like they screwed up and accidentally called Jumbie a man.

As for Sages' Seal OoT translations, I recall Saria saying something to Link if the player called her with Saria's Song as Adult Link after awakening her, but I don't have the save file to find it at the moment.

Haha, I fell for the Jumbie trap months ago. :P

Jancesolo, could you please translate these quotes for me if they haven't already been translated [I may have missed them]

Gwah hah hah! I was summoned from the Dark Realm by Twinrova. See my true form! Feel the might of a dark dragon!

As we guessed, saving Nayru was for naught! Ambi's age is filled with cries of sorrow! Veran has extended the Dark Realm's reach, giving us what we seek-- echoing cries of sorrow! Spread, darkness! Spread, sorrow!

Also, does "yami no sekai" appear anywhere in Twilight Princess in correlation to the Twilight Realm/Curtain?

Jancesolo, could you please translate these quotes for me if they haven't already been translated [I may have missed them]

This OoS one was already translated:

グハハハハ!! ツインローバさまによって 闇の世界より しょうかんされし 真のすがた。。。
Guhahahaha!! This is my true form that Twinrova-sama summoned from the Dark World…

Gwah hah hah! I was summoned from the Dark Realm by Twinrova. See my true form!

Note: Dark World/Realm here is "yami no sekai" in the Japanese.

This OoA one wasn't, but I had the Japanese of it, so here it is:

さっしのとおり ネールを すくったところで すべては ムダじゃ。。。 アンビのじだいには すでに なげきのこえが みちあふれておる
As we expected, saving Nayru was completely useless… Ambi’s era is already overflowing with cries of grief.

As we guessed, saving Nayru was for naught! Ambi's age is filled with cries of sorrow!

If Veran brings darkness to the world, the cries of grief will be there also. What we seek are those cries of grief themselves! Bring more darkness! Bring more grief!

Veran has extended the Dark Realm's reach, giving us what we seek-- echoing cries of sorrow! Spread, darkness! Spread, sorrow!

Note: NoA screwed up, the Dark World/Realm is not mentioned here. What is said is "sekai no yami" which means "The world's darkness".

Also, does "yami no sekai" appear anywhere in Twilight Princess in correlation to the Twilight Realm/Curtain?

The term "yami no sekai" does not appear in TP.

My bad, the Japanese term would mean "those Ganondorf was using to pursue".

Hey jacen, I have a request from TWW. Before Link starts the Deku Tree sidequest, the Deku Tree says this:

"I can't help but think that this, too, is the
result of Ganondorf's evil plot. Could it be?"

Could you please translate this? I just want to know if the Deku Tree actually says that Ganondorf is the cause instead of a possibility.

Here's that WW quote Average Gamer:

もしや、とは思っていたのデスが これもガノンというモノの 仕業なんでしょうか?
I'm thinking it's a possibility, but could this too be the work of Ganon?

I can't help but think that this, too, is the result of Ganondorf's evil plot. Could it be?

And KJ Contrarian from ZU PM'd me with a request for the first page of Japanese manual of OoS, so here it is:

ハイラルの大地。 馬を駆る一人の少年がいました。
その名はリンク。
導かれるようにたどり着いたところは、ハイラル城の奥深く。
その奥でリンクを待ち受けていたのは、美しく輝くトライフォースでした。
「リンク。。。リンク。。。トライフォースの試練を受けよ」
ひときわ神々しい光に包まれた瞬間、リンクの姿は消えていきました。
In the land of Hyrule there is a single boy riding a horse.
His name is Link.
The place he arrives at as if he was led there is the depths of Hyrule Castle.
What awaits Link there is the beautiful, shining Triforce.
“Link…Link…undergo the Triforce's test.”
Link is covered in an especially divine light and in that instant he disappears.

One day in Hyrule, a strange force drew Link deep within Hyrule Castle, where he found the Triforce resting, glittering brilliantly as it awaited him.
“Link…Link…Accept the quest of the Triforce!”
Suddenly, Link was enveloped in a shaft of light, and the next moment, he vanished.

When he comes to, Link is in an unknown forest.
Link doesn’t know what has happened and looks around at his surroundings in a daze.
When he does, he hears fun-sounding music and laughter coming from the depths of the forest.
He goes in the direction of the voices as if invited and finds a troupe of traveling entertainers.

When Link awoke, he found himself in a forest he had never seen. Confused, he looked around blankly at the unfamiliar surroundings. He heard pleasant music and laughing voices echoing from deep within the woods. Link followed the inviting voices until he came upon a traveling troupe of actors.

Link finds himself unintentionally looking at the girl dancing in the circle.
When she notices Link, she gives a smile like the sun and says,
“I am Din the dancer. Hee hee, will you dance with me?
Don’t be embarrassed. If we dance together, it will be more fun!”
Din takes his hand and Link begins to dance.
He is a little shy and awkward.

He was immediately struck by the beauty of a young woman who was dancing about in circles.
When the girl noticed Link, she smiled brightly and called to him.
“Welcome to Holodrum. I am Din, the dancer,” she said with glee. “Would you like to dance with me? Don’t be shy. It will be more fun if we dance together.” She took him by the hand, and he reluctantly began to dance.

But, the fun dance did not continue for long.

Unfortunately, this blissful moment did not last long.

Actually, I'd like all of the Deku Tree's dialogue translated. Most of what he says, if you talk to him at various times after Forbidden Woods, isn't even in davogones' script. There's a prompt that lets you ask him about a few different things... The Koroks have a few comments on the trees as well, so it might be valuable for what AG wants.

That is a better question than one may initially suspect. I mean with that name would think it obvious... but then aren't these guys made of wood, not bones?

Perhaps Stal is the Hylian word for living dead, regardless of what it was while alive?
Popular theory has it that Skull Kids are Kokiri gone missing in the forest, and since Kokiri eventually become Koroks, a StalKid could perhaps be the reanimated corpse of a Kokiri.

Kokiri are the only people who don't transform in the Lost Woods. Additionally, not only do they appear to be familiar with the forest, but they have fairies as well that could help guide them. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the Kokiri purposely changed their shapes to become the Koroks; I doubt that the Kokiri had wooden skeletons or something.

As shown in MM, Stalbabies do not have to be actual babies, seeing as how the soldiers of Ikana were Stalbabies. The name might come from the fact that they look like smaller, weaker versions of the Stalfos.

That may be so. But Navi wonders "Is this what ahppens to childrens that are lost in the woods?". And since later a Kokiri tells us that anyone from outside the forest becomes a Stalfos, I have to ask, why would children turn to wooden beings rather than smaller stalfos-es?
Unless they were plants to begin with... and furthermore, the Stalkid in Majora's mask actually bears the Kokiri symbol on his gloves.

I doubt that the Kokiri had wooden skeletons or something.

I am pretty certain the Kokiri are in fact plants, not only because they would later turn into the Koroks, but also both because they are born from a tree and because this would explain their longevity.

She was likely referring to regular children. OoT specifies that non-fairy folk who go into the woods become monsters.

And since later a Kokiri tells us that anyone from outside the forest becomes a Stalfos, I have to ask, why would children turn to wooden beings rather than smaller stalfos-es?

That's just how the forest (apparently) works, and she was probably referring to adults in that instance considering the general size of a Stalfos. Deku Scrubs can apparently live in the place too.

Unless they were plants to begin with...

Kokiri aren't plants though. They're spirits in human form.

and furthermore, the Stalkid in Majora's mask actually bears the Kokiri symbol on his gloves.

But all Skull Kids dress and look the same, and no Kokiri dresses like them. If anything it's just a mark of the forest that they wear, and if I recall correctly it's absent from the Skull Kid in TP.

I am pretty certain the Kokiri are in fact plants, not only because they would later turn into the Koroks, but also both because they are born from a tree and because this would explain their longevity.

The longevity of the Kokiri is already explained; they're spirits, and thus not mortal. Also, the Korok thing was a result of shape-shifting, and if I'm not mistaken the Deku Tree once said that the Kokiri had human forms.

I don't want to go off-topic, so I'll end it here.

Hey Jacensolo, could you retranslate this line from the SNES manual?

Johan translated it as "In the fierce attack, the Group of Knights formed a shield. Regrettably, their force exhausted, they fell offering their lives. Nonetheless, the Sages completed the seal." but Zethar II translated it as "The Knights had valiantly used their bodies as shields during the fierce attack, and although they unfortunately perished when their strength had exhausted, this had given the Sages time to complete their Seal." I'd say that the second one flat out says that the seal was made at pretty much the same time as the knights died. Whereas the first one doesn't give a time frame at all. (Even though it pretty much implies the same based on the context.)

My translation is:

Using their bodies as shields against the fierce attack, the group of knights unfortunately used up all their strength and lost their lives, but the Sages’ Seal was completed.

It's clearly meant to be at the same time.

As you know, if I imprison the Oracle of Seasons and bury the temple that houses the Season Spirits, the seasons of Holodrum will be cast into chaos, the bountiful gifts of nature will rot, and all living things perish!!!
That is the world of darkness that I long for!

When you get the time, could you please tackle that quote for me Jancesolo?

Something Raien said in another thread made me curious what the Japanese says when Medli refers to the time before the Rito evolved wings, so here it is:

羽根のない時代から、 リト族に伝わる道具です
It's a tool that was handed down by the Rito race from the era when we did not have wings.

It's a device we Rito used before we evolved wings.

As I suspected, the Japanese does not mention evolution.

Yeah, I mean did anyone seriously believe they were talking eolvution in the Darwinian sense? I doubt if that even happens in Hyrule.

By the way, have these lines been translated? The description of the Zora armour (I can't find it anywhere right now grr*) and the words Rutela uses to describe it:

During his lifetime, my husband created garments specifically for the chosen hero, garments that house the abilities of the Zora. Now, at last, I can join the king in slumber.

I believe the armour's description says something along the lines of the armour being passed down through the royal line, suggesting it was actually created by an ancestral king (OoT's King Zora?) Does the Japanese give more consistent descriptions? I'm willing to bet the word "created" was never used by Rutela in the original.

My symbolism article was founded on refuting the argument for Darwinian evolution in Zelda. This more or less seals the deal.
