If the Wii version is inverted then won't every other TLoZ game on the Wii have to be inverted too for consistency?

.......

No.

No.

I think I put that the wrong way. Won't every other Zelda game on the Wii feature a right handed Link? Won't Ganondorf have his Triforce part on his left hand and so on (if he has one).

I suppose
but, yeah
for those of you on the edge, get the Wii version, man

it's TOTALLY worth it. Fishing (REEL fishing at least) is incredibly fun with it, the sword controls work wonderfully and the aiming for the Bow/Slingshot/Clawshot is better than any other Zelda game I've ever played

I imagine they would stick with Link being right handed. However, since a new Zelda game would be built ground up around the Wii, It wouldn't not matter if Link was right-handed since that is how it is. Maybe they would do things like appearence of triforce on people's hands "normally". Who knows.

Come ooooon, some of you must have got a Wii today. What's the 411? Word is circulating that ExciteTruck and Red Steel are both crap.

Nope, haven't got the funds and besides I'm getting both versions of Twilight Princess anyway so I'd rather play the original NGC format before trying it on their new console. There'll be an interesting debate here regarding which version is "superior".

...I'll probably get Wii for Metroid Prime 3.

Are you talking about future games, or the past Zelda games on the virtual console?

Obviously future Zelda games. There's no reason to invert past games that use traditional controls.

Although with the way TP plays, I don't see why inverting Link to a righty was that big of a deal. You really don't control where and how he swings his sword.

Future Zelda games on the Wii. Not VC games.

I heard that you could alter the left/right-handedness in the Wii TP to go with your preferences, so I don't think its really an issue. And for all we know, the Wii version of TP masy have some extra features that the GC version doesn't (since the Wii can handle larger game sizes, I wouldn't doubt it).

...I'll probably get Wii for Metroid Prime 3.

I'll get it for MP3:C, TP, and SSB:B for sure.

The Wii version has already been released. It does not let you choose your hand preference, and has no extra features whatsoever.

Regarding future games, Aonuma reportedly stated that he hasn't decided yet, but it obviously leans towards Link being a righty. The only way around it would be if the next game does let you pick which hand you wish to hold the remote in, which would make sense assuming it is feasible.

I can't imagine it would be much of a programming hassle. It doesn't have to mean entirely "flipping" the game, it would just be a matter of having two versions of each Link sprite. I don't really see, in hindsight, why there's no hand-choice option. I don't care about Link's handed-ness, and a left-handed person can still switch the position in which they hold the controller, but I imagine it probably feels awkward swinging your left hand and seeing the right hand on screen swing the sword.

You'd have to flip other things too so that Link would interact with them correctly. Like doors and certain enemies.

The Wii will be launching at Midnight on December 6 in Australia. Click here for a list of locations.

A friend of mine, who has played the game, said that at the beginning of the game, it allowed her to choose whether she was left or right handed.

I've not heard any review site mention that, but if it's true, I'm tempted to pick left handed just to keep Link that way.

I can second that. There is no way to de-mirror Link's right-handedness.

It's come out today over here, but they've ran out of stock (in all of Europe), even for those who pre-ordered it. I guess I should have pre-ordered all the way back in August (if they started that early).

Yeah, I wish I'd pre-ordered as early as possible now. Sadly, I didn't think I'd need to. Most stores in the UK don't think they'll be able to fulfill their pre-orders before the new year either. I doubt I'll manage to get hold of one before Christmas, but I'll try when I get home.

Who did you pre-order with?

PC World's estimate to when I can get one is February.

I went down to GAME this morning as they said they would have few non-preorder units in stock, but they'd all gone if they even existed.

They told me to phone them Tuesday or Wednesday for news about more consoles, but now I'm no longer bothered about getting a Wii before Christmas. I've preordered TP on the Cube for next Friday and as no other Wii games interest me I'll buy the Wii when it's bundled with Metroid Prime 3.

Also, there's mass shorteges of wiimotes with people forced into buying Wii Play or whatever it is to get another wiimote. Not exactly 'Wii' more like 'Yuu'.

I didn't preorder one! That's the problem.

I'm not going to bother getting one till MP3 comes out now either, I suppose I can at least buy a new laptop now! I won't bother with TP for the GC though, I'd rather wait to see how it is on the Wii...and I'm not buying the same game twice!

Avoid PC World, Virgin, HMV, Dixons, Currys and Comet like the plague as none of them give a rat's arse about video games.

GAME and Gamestation are dedicated sellers and seeing as they've now sold out of their prime Christmas stock before the shopping rush, they'll be squeezing Nintendo for all the units they can get their hands on.

So I should cancel my pre-order?

Looking at Gamestation's website, I should have pre-ordered with them. They said orders before the 9th of November will arrive on launch day. I pre-ordered with PC World on the 4th of November.

Well, no, but now you know that in the future don't preorder anything with PC World or any of the others I mentioned if you can help it.

Though if you wanted to risk it, you could cancel the preorder and hope to get a Wii on the fly like most people are now having to do. It certainly won't be two whole months before they're back in stock in all shops. Since you've got a preorder, find out how easy/hard it is to cancel it, wait until you see a Wii in a shop, buy it then cancel the preorder.

I just checked. There isn't an option to cancel the pre-order.

The e-mail that they sent me said "We are working closely with Nintendo to ensure we will fulfil your pre-order before Christmas".

Then it'll be very harsh indeed if you don't get it in time. Hell, it was harsh you preordering it so early and missing out on launch day!

I pre-ordered with them because it was the cheapest Wii deal at the time. I didn't know about Gamestation's deals, but they're about the same as the PC World one.

When I pre-ordered it, I had a feeling I was late. I pre-ordered it when I found out I didn't need the money at the time to place the order.

I got an e-mail from Nintendo saying "Happy Wii Day".
