I got an e-mail from Nintendo saying "Happy Wii Day".

I got exactly the same email...

Sad.

What's even more annoying is that I found out that Australia has too many Wii consoles.

I got mine this morning. (Very early this morning, delivered by post). Although Twilight Princess and Wii Play don't arrive until tomorrow, so I've been stuck playing Wii Sports. And I found it connects to the wireless internet connection we already have without me needing to do anything... I got it to send me an e-mail! My arms ache from the boxing...

I preordered from Amazon, during the seven minutes they had preorders available. It makes sitting refreshing a screen for forty minutes all worthwhile...

Wii Get!

Standing in line for eight hours till the stroke of midnight (plus another hour for it to be my turn) in the midst of freezing rain and otherwise miserable conditions does pay off! I managed to get a Wii at launch, and one additional game to come with it... Think you can guess what it was? ;)

...

No you can't. Because the store had already sold out of regular Wii packages (100 available) I was forced to buy a bundled system. Included with the console was Tony Hawk, a game I have absolutely no interest in whatsoever. To make matters worse, they had already sold out of Twilight Princess! But fear not, though I was unable to acquire Zelda at that time, I did pick up a copy when the stores opened this morning. Thus I am the happy owner of both a Wii and Twilight Princess!

As for impressions, all I can say is that the Wii is damn cool. The way you control that little hand on the 'home' menu alone makes it worth buying (Really!). I haven't played Zelda enough to make anything near an educated judgment of it, but from what little I have seen, I say it is damn good.

Currys, PC World and Dixons have said they will deal with outstanding pre-orders in "strict chronological order".

In a statement from the retail group, it said: "When we reached the point in the pre-ordering process when demand exceeded anticipated supply, we made it clear to any customers choosing to join the list after that date there were no guarantees that we would be able to fulfil their orders prior to Christmas."

I never got that warning, does that mean I might have a better chance of getting it before Christmas?

What exactly does your receipt/email say concerning when you could or couldn't get your Wii? Or was nothing made clear to you?

This is the e-mail (not including the bit at the bottom talking about the e-mail and the company)

Dear Customer,

Thank you for pre-ordering your Nintendo Wii with us. As communicated at time of your pre-order and due to the unprecedented demand for the

console, along with a European shortage in stock, we are currently unable to deliver your order.

We are working closely with Nintendo to ensure we will fulfil your pre-order before Christmas

We are working on a first come, first serve basis and we will contact you again, once your Wii pre-order is available for dispatch.

Regards

PC World

It does sound like you're in the right part of the 'first-come first-serve' list.

The right part?

I went into Woolworths today. They gave the illusion that they had plenty of consoles for sale because they stacked up empty boxes. Only thing telling you they had none was a lack of price. What's strange is the amount of shelf room they gave for the Wii, the same amount of room as the 360.

It's an encouraging sign - the sizes of the shelves. Usually Ninty gets screwed over in shelf space here and perhaps this is a sign of some popularity at long last.

The right part?

Meaning I think you're in the gap between launch and Christmas. There'll be some people who preordered closer to the cut-off point who definately won't get a Wii in time for Chrimbo.

And it's a Woolworths. I remember when it was just PS2 games with one shelf for everything else. Now the PS2 still has more (two shelves), but everything has at least half a shelf.

So I might get one before Christmas?

360 sold 30,000 consoles over 4 days after its launch in Australia, holding the record. Wii had 30,000 pre-orders alone.

Twilight Princess and Wii Play came this morning. :)

Sorry to hear your preorders haven't arrived... On a first come first served basis, you just have to hope you got the order in early enough.

If not you could try next week, I think that's when new stock comes in. I been told that Nintendo stock for England is stuck in Germany at the moment.

I just re-read the e-mail. They said "will".

Cube Twilight Princess arrived this morning!! I can't believe it came a full two days before release, I only preordered it last week!

And there's Zelda cards in a sealed Triforce-emblazoned envelope!

I rang my GAME today and they said they'll be getting some consoles in on Monday. They have to fill their remaining preorders, but any left over will go on general sale. They told me to ring Saturday to get a better idea of how many will be available.

If I can get one on Monday, I'm so selling it straight away on eBay. Christmas FRENZY!

Still nothing from PC World.

I read up a review on the Virtual Console. They said that from Britain it's a waste of money.

It's better than PC World. They're estimated date is the 31st of January (but their e-mail says they will fulfill the order by Christmas).
