XI’s shirt went over his head. Now fully clothed, XI noticed Sonic returned to the cabin room. They were alone, everyone else had died. XI was more or less in denial about this, refusing the face the fact that he very well could have been killed. How he still breathed was a mystery. Then again, when you spend the majority of the battle running in the opposite direction of your opponent, it tends to be a bit easier.
“So, what’d you pick you from spying on Motoko and Kitsune?” XI asked, as if it were even necessary to ask.
“You’re really got to stop ordering me around, I’ve know you for ten minutes,” Sonic complained.
“Irrelevant!” XI retaliated, growing goofier as he tried to block the recent slaughtering out of his mind, “Answer!”
“Okay, okay. You were apparently right about them being in ‘lurve’,” Sonic reported.
“As if it wasn’t obvious,” XI grinned.
“All right, she some blood from her finger on him and shouted loud enough to make my ear burst. He calmed down and fell asleep- wait, I forgot, he kept on having demon-like outbursts and was telling her to leave. But she didn’t, of course,” Sonic continued.
“So he’s not going to snap and kill more of us?” XI asked rhetorically.
“I guess so…” Sonic answered.
“Me too. Those crazy foxes,” XI shrugged, at a lack of good material for a joke.
Sonic’s eyes narrowed. “My best friend’s a fox.”
“...I cannot be talking to a talking hedgehog that can move faster than a horse,” XI said, poking fun.
“Hush up, you.” Sonic groaned.
“Okay, so our deal’s set. We’re partners. You can be my little spy, and I can be your muscle,” XI smiled, unconsciously flexing.
“Erm, no. You get to be a tool for me to use since you humans seem to be a bit cautious of talking animals,” Sonic corrected him.
XI shrugged again, saying, “As long as you have stealth skills and can help me in the department that I lack in, I don’t really care.”
“Uh… right,” Sonic agreed, neglecting to mention the fact that Motoko saw him. “Oh, another part of our deal!”
“Hm?”
“Don’t try to open the chest!” Sonic threatened.
XI was taken aback for a second, having forgotten the chest’s existence. “Why not?! I’m a pirate, I deserve my earnings.”
“Don’t. Or else I’ll go ‘devil ball in the eye’ on you,” Sonic warned.
“Fine,” XI mumbled in an immature fashion, crossing his arms and jumping onto his bed.
Sonic was leaving. “I’m going to go find some food. I haven’t eaten in nearly a day, thanks to you kidnapping me.”
“And you hiding in fear,” XI pointed out.
Sonic rolled his eyes and left for the pantry. After making sure that he was truly gone, XI slammed shut the door. He skittered over to the bed, unwrapping the chest underneath it. His still wounded left arm hurt at this speed, so XI sighed and slowed down. Finally done unwrapping, XI picked it up and put in on the bed.
I have to find out what’s in it! XI thought greedily.
A large lurch and clump as XI hit the floor meant the ship was moving.
Guess we aren’t raiding the Alliance ship after all… XI said to himself.
