I hate to sound like a lot of the other complainers, but I still really dislike with Cormag, Colm, Knoll, Gerik and some others. Of course, I know all the english names too to talk to others people about the game. I just prefer to call them by the old names when by myself. =p

The names don't hurt my ears much but I'd prefer calling the characters by their original names rather than America's way of editing.

I know I'm a novice at this game, but I need a question answered. If you didn't make the sidequest after Chapter 7, 7x, will Ninian have the ring when you get her later on in the game? I made the sidequest last time, but this time I didn't, and I was wondering if she has the ring when you meet up with her later on in Chapter 20.

I have no idea actually, Nabooru. I'd imagine the answer is yes, but I don't know.

The only name change that bothered me was Cormag. The rest were changed to perfectly fine or better names, or they were the exact same sound with a different spelling.

Jist? Personally, I prefer Gerik, it's simply a better and more fitting name, at least for me, and English-speaking American. Lyon? Leon? Same thing. Knoll? Noel? Well, had they kept the "noel" spelling, everyone would pronounce it like the Christmas "noel", when it is in fact pronounced "knoll".

As I said, I'm fine with all the changes except one, but the good changes far outweigh the bad, in my opinion.

Hm, I'm not so sure of this but I think the completion of the side quests allows Ninian to have the ring that boosts defence and resistance of your party. Her ring for dancing wouldn't be lost.

I'd really like that ring even though I didn't complete that sidequest. (I think I accidently declined the question of wanting to participate in that sidequest or not, by pressing b to go through the convo faster). I just don't want to go all the way to Chapter 20, and find out that Ninian doesn't have the ring with her.

Hows Leon and Lyon the same thing? They're different pronounciations and the second isn't even a name (well persons name that is). Unless its some horrible pun on the etymology of Leon =_=

Gerik/Jist I'm really sort of okay actually in a way, at least its a good name but its still beyond me how they managed to make such a massive change.

Knoll/Noel, Knoll isn't even a name and I think it was mentioned Nooru was also a perfectly viable spelling and a name plus thats actually how the translation comes out. But most people went with Noel.

How are Leon and Lyon not the same thing? They look like they're pronounced exactly the same way to me. Or could be, at least. I don't think "Lyon" is supposed to be pronounced like the animal "lion". I think it's just another case like Noel/Knoll - same sound, different spelling.

Knoll is pronounced exactly like Noel was supposed to be, unless I am vastly mistaken. I guess the new spelling isn't that pretty, but it's really the same name. Nooru sounds like a more Japanese name to me, and the entire point of localization is to remove stuff like that. I wouldn't have minded Nooru, myself, but I'm not annoyed that they didn't use it.

Knoll and Noel do have different ways of being said as do Lyon and Leon although the Knoll/Noel one is more noticeable than Lyon/Leon is actually.

And Nooru is a middle eastern name...I've forgotten of what origin though.

It's a South Indian name, also used in the other middle-eastern continents surrounding it, including Sri Lanka. ^.^

Anyone here gets addicted to dragons in Sacred Stones? Just wondering. When fighting against them, they're deadly enemies but when they're on your side, they make powerful allies. The first time I saw Myrrh going in to battle, I doubted her a bit but my curiousity made me do a little experiement on the nearest enemy. And the next moment, my jaw dropped when I saw her power. :nnsweat: So it seems, looks can be deceiving.

Fa > Mryyh

They have similar growths except Mryh has insane defense and Fa has insane luck...but when all your stats cap at 20 than luck sorta better. Use her....but do not use rely on her in later chapters...she gets pounded like crazy by late game enemies especially her father slaughters her.

Well, has anyone beaten the game with all characters-- except Ephraim and Eirik-- dead? I haven't tried that out yet but I'm wondering what sort of ending would it be (probably a crappy one).

Edit: This thread seems it be dead. :deadlink:

I know that this is uber necro posting, but this is better than making a new thread for FE9. ;)

It's coming out in two days! I can't frigging wait. This is supposed to be one of the best in the series. ^^

*high fives* Same here...beat it more than i beat FE7 XD It was fun, but I prefer the ones on GBA better. Much better. But yeah, If i had a choice, i would go for the DS games that are coming out...

But thats my opinion, lets see how you feel about it ^.^

My only reason for playing FE9 was the Maniac mode.......the game is pretty unfinished...the story leaves a ton of loose ends and there was more they could've done like for starters bring back the godamn rankings.

Party poopers. =p

And the fact that is was wattered down a bit doesn't bother me. FE7's HHM was hard enough for me, and I'm happy just building up a super team. =p

Theres no such thing as a super team...in FE9...because almost any combination that doesn't include Mist and Sothe is already one, since everyone grows as fast as FE8's guys...who had almost retardly high growths and bases.
