This is from last night, but Full Sail IPA. I also tried Blue Point Pumpkin Ale that Evan bought, but yeah I don't like pumpkin beers either.

What are you drinking?

Sure. It's 8 am. But I work nights.

That definitely makes it okay. I think.

I had an apartment with a balcony right over a bus stop. My favourite part of working night shift was coming home and slugging 5 beers right in front of the Monday morning bus crowd as they looked at me like I was insane.

That's awesome. One time I was driving to my church job on Sunday morning and saw someone taking a field sobriety test with a cop. Maybe he worked the night shift...

My biggest complaint about night work is none of the bars are open when I'm done. XD I feel like I'm missing the quintessential disgruntled employee experience.

Green Flash Brewing Co.'s Double Stout Black Ale.
It's everything normal people hate about beer. It's like bold, unsweetened coffee but somehow more bitter.
Delicious.

Yeah, I'm not a stout person. I kind of like them but I only ever want like three sips and that's enough for me, so I'd never order one or buy a six pack of it.

I have a weird palate. I didn't start drinking until I was 22, and at that point I was like, "I hate all beer, so I may as well be efficient!" Considering stouts usually have the highest ABV, I just sort of started drinking those and that has now become my thing.
Although, I really just have a soft spot for weird shit. The brewpub by my school has a tart beer right now that tastes like grapefruit and pennies. It's fantastically weird and I would never call it "tasty" but I always get one to start my nights.

Wish I could try it; I might well call it "tasty"!

So this being New York State, you start with Finger Lakes wine. Such wines are known for their sweetness; wine snobs will deride it as fruit juice, but don't listen to those jerks. Then you cut it with actual fruit juice (more is necessary if you're using your fancy dry wines) and blend it with ice.
Classy enough for a state fair and completely delicious. I don't know where or how they were invented, but they caught on like crazy at summer-time events and a lot of regional wineries have been getting in on the action. I've already forgotten which winery I chose, but it was a twist of Diamond and some red wine.
EDIT: It was Montezuma Fat Frog Red twisted with Diamond.

Wine slushies sound right up my alley. YUM. :0

It's a type of grapes. Semi-sweet whites. I think you only see it in the Finger Lakes.
And yes, if you ever come across a wine slushie booth, get you one.

Tonight I made prickly pear margaritas from scratch, which involved making prickly pear syrup. I was a little let down by the fact that it turned out more orangey than all the pictures of prickly pear margaritas led me to believe it would be. I also screwed up when I made the margaritas and accidentally did 4:2:2:2 (also known as 2:1:1:1) of tequila, cointreau, prickly pear syrup, and lime juice, when I meant to do 4:2:2:1. Sure enough it's way too much lime juice and totally overpowers the very mild prickly pear flavor. Sad that I can't taste the prickly pear, but it's a margarita, so it still tastes awesome...just like a regular margarita instead of a prickly pear margarita.

My mom grew up around there. In Star Lake. D: I used to be able to visit family up in Cranberry Lake.

Doesn't New York have open liquor laws?

I'm not sure what the limits of that law is. I think it's typically just public roads and sidewalks. If it's illegal in parks, then Park Rangers generally look the other way. As to the State Fair, or any other kind of outdoor fair/festival/concert, it's uncommon to see any restriction on carrying your drink around. Now and then, places will make you stay in some section of the event, or you can't bring them into a kid-friendly section, but I think that's by the organizer's choice. That said, bars don't let you out the door drink in hand, and I doubt a fair would either.

Evan bought the fall seasonal Woodchuck. It's very heavy on the cinnamon and nutmeg and as such tastes very late fall/early winter. I don't recommend it, at least not yet. Ask me again in October. I'll be switching to good old Blue Point Toasted Lager after I finish this bottle of Woodchuck.

Tequila AND Jameson? You deserve what you have coming; that was foolish. However I do feel bad for you.

I did cross my mind. Multiple times.
But no, the Jameson and dry was my main drink. Just a whole bunch of tequila shots here and there.

Yeah, I don't quite understand why things like Fall Woodchuck, Octoberfests, and Pumpkin ales are out in late August. You can't enjoy them to the fullest.

Bleh, me either. It's still IPA and wheat beer season!
