Because, when combined with ketchup, molasses, horseradish, liquid smoke, and seeded chipotle chilies in the proper combination, it makes the best barbecue sauce of all time.

Why can't you Southerners enjoy one flavor at a time?

That was actually the abridged version. The real deal has dark chocolate and coffee vodka in it, too, and occasionally a fresh fruit.

jasi! I'm in seaside, and quis is Warrenton! btw the chocolate cafe in the cannon beach day spa has such yummy milk shakes. being in cb you could go to bill's and get some of their beer! I've heard the brewery in seaside isn't very good, and there's two up in Astoria... one I've been to for food. I'm just not a beer or wine person. well I'm not really an alcohol person actually. if I'm going to drink it has to be a fufu girly drink where you can't taste the alcohol. or a drink like an amf or a trashcan where there is so much alcohol it doesn't matter.

also... egann, a bbq sauce with dark chocolate and vodka? O.o or am I totally misunderstanding that?

Right now, Ommegang Rare Vos from the same combo pack.  It's an amber ale.  Very nice.  Ommegang is one of the best breweries I know of.

To those who asked, I'm on the coast mostly in Cannon Beach visiting my mom. It was the Nehalem Bay winery. I didn't try any mead though, I can't stand sweet beverages (including most Woodchuck, ew, you guys are gross. I like Original Sin though Lena, and some Crispin). Except like, hot chocolate. Obviously.

Frokie beat me to it, but I'll say it anyway s.  You aren't that far, we should meet up!

Lena you are close enough you could come visit. but you don't :(

edit: and Jasi, pine state biscuits is a little over rated. in my opinion. not worth waiting in a line with all those hipsters for so long in that tiny tiny crowded place for the food. unless there's no line, then totally go. bistro montage, not overrated. I dream of that mac n cheese. I wish I had a foil creation full of it in my fridge... :( I'm currently hungry due to just waking up and really craving yummy comfort food with a hint of spice. went to done brewery/pub with darklink when he was in town. and savoy. savoy wasn't as good as I was expecting. hub brewery I believe was the other place. I did enjoy it there. I really wish I hadn't been pregnant at the time because he seemed to enjoy the sampler of their products that he got. sigh. I think when I'm done breast feeding I need to go try all the samplers at the local brew houses.

I knowhow hate becks. what type of beer is becks? I have the non alcoholic stuff in my fridge to help with milk production. it tastes like puke. someone tell me what type of beer it is so I know not to order that!?

Don't drink non-alcoholic beer for taste.

I've heard many people comment that non-alcoholic Beck's is the worst thing on the planet, they sometimes accidentally deliver it to the bar I work at and we sampled some of that puke.

The real thing is legit and delicious, try one when you can imbibe alcohol again, trust me.

Why wait? Give the kid some breast milk to remember! If what you're drinking tastes like puke, I'm sure those mamaries are secreting a product with much the same essence... :eww:

Becks is German, BTW, but if they have an N/A line, which I've never even heard of, it's probably subcontracted by an American brewhouse.

Right now I'm drinking cheap swill, as I am awaiting payments for services rendered and I refuse to dip into savings.

Baaaaah you can't drink while breastfeeding either?! That sucks bigtime.

I didn't actually keep track of all I drank in Oregon. Lots and lots of IPAs. I went to Full Sail's brewery in Hood River, OR and had a flight of their beers. I mostly liked the hoppiest ones, but they also had a brewer's special that's only available at the brewery and it was a summer weis beer that was really tart, which I loved. It almost tasted like cider. No one else in my party liked it, but I love sour things! I wish they sold it elsewhere.

CIDER

* Woodchuck is okay as far as daily drinking goes.

* Crispin has some really nice varieties.

* Samuel Smith's is good with food, because it's dry and light and doesn't have overpowering sweetness.

* Original Sin is another one I really like.

Have you tried Angry Orchard before? It's not too bad. Magner's is probably my favorite cider though.

Another cider to try would be Strongbow; that was my gluten-free roommate's favorite.

Rhubarb juice. It is not orange. It is not large. It is not on fire. It is not a cross bore hole electromagnetic imaging one. It is just mixed with blackcurrant.

I had Angry Orchard with lunch today (mostly because it was the only kind they had). It and Woodchuck are okay, but nothing special. And surprisingly high in calories compared with other ciders. Probably because they're sweeter.

Hah it does. I think that's why it was his favorite too.

Today I drank Blue Point Toasted Lager, one of my favorite beers of all time. It's totally balanced and I don't see how anyone could not like it.

I know sometimes factory workers pee in the bottles because they are oppressed and I respect their right to do that and then get shot but man is a Corona ever delicious on a hot summer's day... or 12.

Perhaps drinking a Corona 12 days in a row is some superstitious method of summoning a cold front?  It's the most convincing reason to drink Corona that I've ever heard.

So Thursday is like Friday in this household because Evan has Fridays off over the summer (and, of course, I have every day off over the summer). So while he goes to kickball and leaves me home alone, I typically put away a decent amount of alcohol myself so that we're on the same level when he gets back. ;)

Tonight I accidentally bought a berry beer...I'll probably keep drinking it even if I hate it. Magic Hat Elder Betty. It's an "elderberry weiss".

edit: not bad at all! Only a tiny hint of berry.

edit 2: bleh

Harvest Pumpkin Ale, because my dad keeps buying Sam Adams packs and hates pumpkin beer. It's like a neverending torrent of 2 pumpkin ales every few days.
