The armour seems to be a rough 50/50 stupid to sensible for women, well at least the heavier stuff...because mail and leather and cloth are at least expected to drape topography so to speak. On the other hand steel plate is ridiculous but normal steel looks fine, same with lets say dwarven - but then elven is once again boobtastic.

Skyrim is still better than most, bare midriffs and leather thongs don't dominate, hell clevage doesn't poke out through armour.

Mount and Blade still wins the female armour award for giving men tits when in dresses but otherwise all armour is near enough enough shapeless.

So this happened.

That's what happens when Valve itself mods Skyrim. You can also make a "Dovahcore" helmet - a hollowed out core with viking horns. And Spacey here will mutter "wanna.... wanna master the arcane arts. in space. arcane arts in space," while you make it. Wheatley flies around the Skills screen. And if a giant smacks Space Core, it flies back off into space, never to be seen again.

Huh. Late, but marriage was also incredinly...odd for me. I married Aela the Huntress, and on the one hand, it was pretty cool how a bunch of NPC's you did quests for came as guests. On the other, Aela spent the whole time with her arms crossed, then immediately afterward she bolted for the door before I could even talk to the new bride. I eventually stumbled onto her many many real life hours and in-game days later, out hunting Harkens up north and told her to go to the house in Whiterun and decided to see about that resting perk.

...then I forgot that I had activated the Dark Brotherhood, so I woke up in that odd predicament. Quite a wedding night I suppose. :arcee: Now I kinda wish she could still go out and do what she used to since it's weird seeing her so domesticated, especially in the better light armor I forged for her.

Oh well. At least it was a trophy?

Oh, and the game is now starting to ever so slightly chug along. Hoo boy. <.<

Update: Patch 1.4 is out, and the game is no longer chugging. Maybe I'm crazy but the size of my savefile is also noticeably smaller then it was before, so whether or not this fix is permenant or just temporary, who knows.

So I picked up a copy of Skyrim today (and a free copy of Oblivion ;d), despite my original plans of buying it at the end of the semester. Any starter tips for someone who has never played Elder Scrolls before?

Side quests are more important than the main quest.

Agreed. Side quests garner a large collection of books.

You'll also need to save up and purchase a house and some upgrades in which to store all your books. Until then, the chest in the Jarl of Whiterun's bedroom will suffice, as well as take the heat off you by framing him should anyone discover your secret stash of stolen literature.

Join a guild - start with the one most like your character. Companions for a fighter, Thieves Guild for a rogue, Mages Guild for magic users, etc. Early quests will be geared toward low levels. You'll get a place to sleep (and potentially stash stuff away), access to spells and/or weapons, and other goodies. Each guild has its own unique armor and items. You'll need to take a break from the guild quests to go level up elsewhere. Exploring caves and mines and barrows and all the other things in the world will allow you to level up.

How far you should proceed in the main quest: Going up to High Hrothgar to learn the full powered version of "FUS RO DAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" At which point, you can bugger off and go do your own thing. Unrelenting Force is the most useful shout in the whole game, so it helps to have it at full strength before you tackle anything too big.

Though still not necessary if you care to abandon the main quest even earlier. My second character is level 25 or so and hasn't unlocked shouting -- I recreated my Daggerfall archer-thief-assassin, so, technically, she shouldn't have the ability to shout. Not being a dragonborn and all. [/nerding-out-over-game-lore]

Finish your Semester before really getting into it. No, really, it's not a matter of self control, it's just a really, really good idea. While you can get off the rails very quickly (and in fact collect some otherwise more difficult Shouts in caves ealy without high level monsters/Elder Dragons harassing you), it's a good diea to get the main quest out of the way early so it won't be bothering you, in addition to everything above.

So... murder townspeople, steal books, join a guild, and buy a house. Gotcha. ;d

And don't worry DJ, I don't really have the time to get into any games at the moment anyways. I just wanted to use what little free time I had to learn the ropes of the game, so I can really get started in a few weeks.

..and sometime later for PS3 and PC. I like how it went from "ONLY FOR X-BOX" for Oblivion to "Only on X-Box......for now" for Fallout 3 and now "Yeah, all ya'll will get it eventually."

They're trying to boost console sales. Admirable goal, but a lot of people go for the PC just because they know there's a hell of a lot of really good mods that way. Plus, everyone knows Bethesda makes their fans write all the game patches......

Also: http://www.gameinfor...ollsonline.aspx

Nothing on the site yet, but they are going to fill it in eventually....

So yeah, Skyrim is being put off to the side for now. My TV simply isn't good enough to play Skyrim, since I literally can't read anything on the screen. I'm playing Oblivion instead for now, and so far I'm liking it a bit better, since the controls seem easier to use and I can actually read the text. :P

I am a bad person? I'm still in Whiterun, messing around doing a few quests and whatnot. I've joined the Companions, too. Then I decided to go on a random killing spree for a bit, because hey, I can always reload. Chopped up a few innocent people in Whiterun, then the guards were killing me, so I ran to Jorvaskr (or however you pronounce it). The rest of the Companions, seeing I was under attack, drew their swords and attacked the Whiterun guards. Now the townsfolk I hadn't killed already were obviously helping the guards, so we ended up with a pitched battle on the streets of Whiterun with the Companions against the townsfolk and guards. Apparently the Skyforge Blacksmith counts as a Companion, because he joined in on their side, even though his wife was on the other side. It was pretty funny. The Companions won fairly easily - though of course the children of Whiterun are indestructible. So we ended up with the Companions chasing the children around, hacking away at them and shouting how they were the weakest enemies they'd ever faced.

Also, my horse is awesome. She even runs up and attacks dragons for me (well, I've only fought once dragon since I got her, but she was right up there stomping away at it). I haven't seen her get killed yet, even though she keeps attacking frost trolls and so on.

That actually sounds like a pretty typical day in ye olde Skyrim. You shouldn't load back. It would make your story a lot more epic if things keep going with what you've done. Also, horses are always that awesome. Join the Dark Brotherhood, they'll give you a better horse for dragon slayage.

So, Dawnguard Trailer.

So basically looks like Bloodmoon for Morrowind, except with vampires instead of werewolves. Kinda cool since vampires were really underrepresented in Skyrim while werewoloves got their whole quest with the Companions. Hopefully, the vampire/slayers divide is balanced and equal to make it fun for people to choose either option. Hopefully stuff like having completed the main quest or being a werewolf triggers some different covnersation options that are more then just a casual comment drop, if only so the Dragonborn can roll his/her eyes at arrogant prick vampire's threats.

Boo for timed exclusives, though that mounted combat in the trailer I'm pretty sure is actually a patch that's on the PC now and incoming for consoles.

Figure when I climb outta bed tonight I'll play again. So far all I know is I wish Serena was a marriage prospect. Lol.

So I've been derping around a bit on Skyrim lately. Gave up on attempting the story for now, so now I'm just roaming around raiding dungeons. Once I finish up the dungeon I'm currently in, I think I'm going to look into thieving a bit more, since my character was relatively high stealth and lockpicking. Should probably work on pickpocketing as well.

Once/If the PS3 ever gets the DLC I'll talk. Though I suppose "We won't release it if it isn't the proper experience" is somewhat better then the typical Bethesda tactic of releasing DLC on the PS3 and running away before people can complain.

Somewhat.

I heard that the DLC on PS3 would work for most users but for some it would be a broken mess. I have no clue why that is the case, does it have something to do with the Radient(?) AI system or what?

So! Next expansion trailer is out. This one's taking place on Solstheim - AKA: The place where Morrowind's "Bloodmoon" expansion took place. Distinct Morrowind architecture and old Morrowind creatures/enemies seen in trailer. Like netches and whatnot. If nothing else, it'll be fun to revisit. Also dragon riding.

You vs. the first dragonborn.
