You'll need to clarify with MPS. I provided the quotes because I thought that they were relevant.

I vaguely remembered them, but that's why I asked. =D
I'd like to hear from someone else if they know, MPS has been too condescending lately for my taste lately.

Like I said before, the Triforce governs metaphysical law. It controls "Reason." I think I commented on it before, how "Reason" is the dictation of the way of the world several pages back.

And I haven't been any more condescending than usual, but you HAVE been making me reiterate myself needlessly.

Man, I have so many projects at the moment, and none of them get me further on my backlog from hell which I just keep buying more games for. So I haven't forgotten about the tables... I just need to work out which one to do next. Do you guys have any thoughts on the WW table, things that could be improved or anything? I still want to make it publicly available, but I hope the people here at least get some use out of it. Most of us want to place TWW quotes in context, after all, and the context of the entire game is a good way to do hat.

Since there needs to be another version anyway with that last translation in it, we may as well get a few more done slowly. I'll just pick out anything that, if not important, at least completes an important scene. Sometimes we might assume NoA added/changed something, but that could have been implied in an untranslated part of the text.

Link... Link...
Wake up, Link!

Pull yourself together, Link!

Well? Have you come to your senses yet?

You are surprisingly dull-witted...

Did I startle you?

I suppose that is only natural. As wide
as the world is, I am the only boat upon
it who can speak the words of men.

I am the King of Red Lions.
Do not fear... I am not your enemy.

Link...

I have been watching you since you went to
the Forsaken Fortress to rescue your sister.

I understand how your desire to protect
your sister could give you the courage to
fearlessly stand up to anything...

But such a bold attempt was foolhardy!

I suppose you saw him... The shadow that
commands that monstrous bird...

So it is true...

Then you have come here because you have
need of the pearl of the goddess?

I see...
I knew there was a reason the monsters had
begun to congregate in the regions around
my wood. Now I understand it.

He has returned...
Ganon has returned...

In that case, we must make haste.

Koroks! Little children of the woods!
This traveler is not your enemy. Let your
hearts be at ease, and show yourselves!

What do you call yourself?

Link?

Well, then, Link...
These are the Koroks--the spirits of
the forest.

Once upon a time, long ago, the Koroks
took on human forms, but when they came
to live on the sea, they took these shapes.

Now they fear people...but to me, they will
ever be my cherished little children.

As it happens, you have come just in time
for a ceremony that the Koroks hold but
once every year. It is about to begin.

I shall grant the pearl to you once their
ceremony is complete.

I must apologize for the brief delay, but if
the ceremony is not completed soon, an ill
fate could befall us.

So, let it begin! Are you ready, my children?

Thanks as always, jacen.

Looks like this latest re-translation has yield some interesting results!

One thing that bugs me though:
"life did not yet have form"
as far as you can tell Jacen, does this mean that there were no form of life or that life existed but was formless (like say, only spirits?)

So, I don't know if I'm getting this all correct or not...
The Triforce became the cornerstone of "reason" for the world....this is congruent with aLttP's account that the Triforce was to guide the people of the world?

And the actions of Onox/Veran effectively disrupted the "reason" of the world that the Triforce provides?

If I'm getting that right, it explains one question. aLttP states that the Triforce doesn't judge between good and evil, which raised the question of why it alerted Link to the evil plot to revive Ganon. However, if the Triforce's very job is to uphold "reason", then it would be justified in sending Link, as Veran and Onox were trying to disrupt the reason.

Thus, it wouldn't be the Triforce judging evil, but fulfilling it's duty.
...is that right?

Think of it like this:

-A house is built from wood, and the house is thus maintained by that wood.
-The world was built from the union of Power, Wisdom and Courage, and the world is thus maintained by that same union, in the form of the Triforce.

-When the house was built, people then chose furniture to give it a character that reflected their own personal preferences and choices.
-When the world was made, people then chose to be good or evil, thus giving the world a character that reflected their personal preferences and choices.

But the "reason" established by Din/Nayru/Farore/Power/Wisdom/Courage is the same thing that's being thrown into disorder by Veran and Onox, correct? They're essentially trying to tear down that hypothetical house of yours :P

In a word, yes. That's more or less the gist of what the forces of Darkness are trying to achieve in the Zelda series.

Probably in the most intuitive sense of "life was not yet born, it didn't have an existence yet."

So, I don't know if I'm getting this all correct or not...

Yes, exactly. Twinrova and their cohorts were screwing with the fabric of the universe and the Triforce sprained it's vagina to get Link on the case.

It means that life existed but was formless.

I don't agree with that; atleast quite yet. Not only is literal formless life fairly nonsensical and conflicts with Farore creating life (that was her whole contribution), but the world was a sort of Greek void/fullness of Chaos.

Here's the first meeting with Zelda in OoT:

だ、だれ?
W-who?

Who?!

Who are you…? How did you get here…?

Who are you? How did you get past the guards?

それは…
Oh…? That’s…

Oh? What's that? Is that...

A fairy!? Then, you…came from the forest?

a fairy?! Then, are you... Are you from the forest?

Then…do you have the Spirit Stone of the Forest? It’s a green, sparkling stone…

Then...then...you wouldn't happen to have...the Spiritual Stone of the Forest, would you?! That green and shining stone...

You have it, right?

Do you have it?

I knew it!

Just as I thought!

I had a dream. Hyrule was covered in black clouds and it kept getting darker and darker…

I had a dream...In the dream, dark storm clouds were billowing over the land of Hyrule...

Then a single ray of light came from the forest… And that light cut up the clouds and illuminated the earth…

But suddenly, a ray of light shot out of the forest, parted the clouds and lit up the ground...

And it turned into the form of a person leading a fairy and holding up a stone that was glowing green.

The light turned into a figure holding a green and shining stone, followed by a fairy...

That was my prophetic dream. That’s right… I’m saying that you appeared in my dream as the messenger from the forest.

I know this is a prophecy that someone would come from the forest... Yes, I thought you might be the one...

Ah… I’m sorry! I got caught up in my story… I haven’t even told you my name.

Oh, I'm sorry! I got carried away with my story and didn't even properly introduce myself!

I am Zelda, Princess of Hyrule…

I am Zelda, Princess of Hyrule.

Your name is…?

What is your name?

Link… Strange… It has a nostalgic sound to it…

Link... Strange...it sounds somehow... familiar.

Then, Link… I’m going to tell you about the secret of the Sacred Land that is handed down by the Hyrule Royal Family.

OK then, Link... I'm going to tell you the secret of the Sacred Realm that has been passed down by the Royal Family of Hyrule.

Don’t tell anyone about it!

Please keep this a secret from everyone...

It goes like this…

The legend goes like this...

The three goddesses hid the Triforce which contains the power of the gods somewhere in Hyrule.

The three goddesses hid the Triforce containing the power of the gods somewhere in Hyrule.

That power can grant the wish of whoever holds the Triforce.

The power to grant the wish of the one who holds the Triforce in his hands.

If someone with a just heart wishes on it, Hyrule would become a world of good… And if someone with an evil heart wishes on it, the world would be ruled by evil… That is what is said.

If someone with a righteous heart makes a wish, it will lead Hyrule to a golden age of prosperity.... If someone with an evil mind has his wish granted, the world will be consumed by evil...That is what has been told....

So the ancient Sages built the Temple of Time in order to protect the Triforce from those with evil hearts.

So, the ancient Sages built the Temple of Time to protect the Triforce from evil ones.

That’s right… The Temple of Time is the entrance through which the Sacred Land can be reached from this land.

That's right... The Temple of Time is the entrance through which you can enter the Sacred Realm from our world.

But that entrance is closed with a stone wall called the “Door of Time”.

But the entrance is sealed with a stone wall called the Door of Time.

And in order to open that “Door”… It is said that one must gather the three Spirit Stones and put them in the temple…

And, in order to open the door, it is said that you need to collect three Spiritual Stones.

And one more thing is necessary… The treasure that the Royal Family protects along with the legend…

And another thing you need...is the treasure that the Royal Family keeps along with this legend...

The Ocarina of Time!

The Ocarina of Time!

Do you understand what I have said?

Did you understand well the story I just told you?

Good! Ah, that’s right! I forgot!

That's great! I forgot to tell you...

Just now, I…was looking through this window.

I was spying through this window just now...

The other hint in my prophetic dream… The black clouds… They are that man… Will you peek in too?

The other element from my dream...the dark clouds... I believe they symbolize... that man in there! Will you look through the window at him?

You saw the man with the sharp eyes, right? He is Ganondorf, the leader of the Gerudo race that lives in the desert to the extreme west…

Can you see the man with the evil eyes? That is Ganondorf, the leader of the Gerudos. They hail from the desert far to the west.

Right now, he’s swearing allegiance to my father, but it has to be a lie…

Though he swears allegiance to my father, I am sure he is not sincere.

The black clouds that covered Hyrule in my dream… They have to be that man!

The dark clouds that covered Hyrule in my dream... They must symbolize that man!

What is it? Did he notice you? Don’t worry! He doesn’t know what we’re thinking about right now!

What happened? Did he see you? Don't worry. He doesn't have any idea what we're planning...yet!

……Yes. I’ve told all this to my father… But he doesn’t believe my prophetic dream… But I know! That man has an evil heart…

........Yes. I told my father about my dream... However, he didn't believe it was a prophecy... But...I can sense that man's evil intentions!

Ganondorf’s aim is most likely the Triforce that lies in the Sacred Land. He’s come to Hyrule in order to get it. And then he will make Hyrule… no, the world itself his…

What Ganondorf is after must be nothing less than the Triforce of the Sacred Realm. He must have come to Hyrule to obtain it! And, he wants to conquer Hyrule... no, the entire world!

Link… Right now, we’re the only one’s who can protect Hyrule!

Link...now, we are the only ones who can protect Hyrule!

Please believe me!

Please!

Thank you!

Thank you!

I…am afraid. I have a feeling that… that man will destroy Hyrule. He has enough terrible power to do it. But I’m glad that you came…

I...I am afraid... I have a feeling that man is going to destroy Hyrule. He has such terrifying power! But it's fortunate that you have come...

Anyways, we can’t let Ganondorf have the Triforce! I will somehow protect the Ocarina of Time so that he can not get his hands on it.

We must not let Ganondorf get the Triforce! I will protect the Ocarina of Time with all my power! He shall not have it!

You must find the two remaining Spirit Stones. We’ll get the Triforce before Ganondorf and defeat him!

You go find the other two Spiritual Stones! Let's get the Triforce before Ganondorf does, and then defeat him!

Then… I will give you this letter. It will surely be useful.

One more thing... Take this letter... I'm sure it will be helpful to you.

My nursemaid will lead you out of the castle. Do not be afraid to talk to her.

My attendant will guide you out of the castle. Don't be afraid to talk to her.

I guess I should have said that the Japanese doesn't say anything about whether life existed or not it just says that life had no physical form.

It says "Before life had form", which is totally different than "life had no physical form." The former is often used in the sense of "Before life had been formed/born/whatever." These semantics debates are restless enough without trying to bring in Western aneurysms.

Hey Jacen, could you please translate what the Sages say in OoT once they've been awakened? If it won't be a problem, could you please start with Impa and Darunia? Also, does the word Mujura mean anything?

Additionally, could you please translate the Twinrova encounter, from when Link enters the Iron Knuckle room to when the sisters are sucked into the sky? I think that it'd be interesting, but mainly I just want to see if the phrase "fresh kid" was actually used in the original version.

Finally, could you please translate what Impa tells Link in Zelda's courtyard and at the drawbridge?

Thanks for translating these things for us.

The term "fresh kid" sounds like slang to me. I doubt that whatever the translation of "fresh" is, that it is normally applied to human beings in that way.

No. I've heard that NoA changed Mujura (from Mujura no Kamen) into Majora for the US release because Mujura supposedly meant devil in Japanese. I just wanted to know if that was true.

Did I startle you? I suppose that is only natural. As wide as the world is, I am the only boat upon it who can speak the words of men. I am the King of Red Lions. Do not fear... I am not your enemy.

Link, I saw you going to the Demon Beast Island to rescue your little sister in its entirety. Your kind feelings for your sister gave you the courage to face anything without fear, but that was reckless! I am sure you saw that ominous figure that was controlling that giant bird.

Link... I have been watching you since you went to the Forsaken Fortress to rescue your sister. I understand how your desire to protect your sister could give you the courage to fearlessly stand up to anything... But such a bold attempt was foolhardy! I suppose you saw him... The shadow that commands that monstrous bird...

So it's as I thought... Then, you have come here because you need the God Pearl of the gods?

So it is true... Then you have come here because you have need of the pearl of the goddess?

I see... Now I know why monsters have been appearing around the forest lately and why other strange things have begun to happen. It's because he has been revived, Ganon has been revived. Then we must hurry.

I see... I knew there was a reason the monsters had begun to congregate in the regions around my wood. Now I understand it. He has returned... Ganon has returned... In that case, we must make haste.

Korogs, children of the forest. This person is not your enemy. Do not worry and come out!

Koroks! Little children of the woods! This traveler is not your enemy. Let your hearts be at ease, and show yourselves!

What is your name...? Link? Then, Link, these are the Korogs, the spirits of the forest. They originally took on human fomrs, but when they came to live above the ocean, they took on this form. People are afraid of this form, but to me, they are all my cute children.

What do you call yourself? Link? Well, then, Link... These are the Koroks--the spirits of the forest. Once upon a time, long ago, the Koroks took on human forms, but when they came to live on the sea, they took these shapes. Now they fear people...but to me, they will ever be my cherished little children.

After this, I am going to begin a yearly ceremony that they perform with me. I shall give you the God Pearl that you require after the ceremony. If we don't finish the ceremony soon, something terrible will happen. Well then, let's begin. Is everyone ready?

As it happens, you have come just in time for a ceremony that the Koroks hold but once every year. It is about to begin. I shall grant the pearl to you once their ceremony is complete. I must apologize for the brief delay, but if the ceremony is not completed soon, an ill fate could befall us. So, let it begin! Are you ready, my children?

God Pearl of the gods? The Deku Tree must not be good at coming up with names.

So people feared the Koroks' wooden forms instead of the Koroks suddenly fearing people. That makes much more sense and explains why the Koroks were comfortable around Link.
