But I heard a nasty rumor floating around about Nintendo saying that after Brawl and Mario Galaxy, they won't be releasing any more first-party online games.
Metroid's no-multiplayer kinda depressed me for awhile, but I guess I'll get over it...
...I still want Samus to at least talk, though. She's talked in games like Super Metroid, Fusion, and Zero Mission, so she's kind of exempt from the "Nintendo Heroes who never talk" group now. And Corruption DOES have voice acting! It's in the videos! No reason for Samus to not have a voice actress that has more use than grunts and screams!

Smash Bros is still set to be online, too.
But I heard a nasty rumor floating around about Nintendo saying that after Brawl and Mario Galaxy, they won't be releasing any more first-party online games.
Doesn't explain Mario Kart Wii.
Other games that'll be online are Medal of Honor Wii and Nitrobike, oh, and Ghost Squad's confirmed for that as well. There's also a possibility that things like Geometry Wars, NiGHTS 2 and Trauma Center: NB will have online co-op in addition to their leaderboards and such, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.

Medal of Honor, Trauma Center, and all those other games, with the exception of Mario Kart, are Third-Party titles.
Haven't heard a whole lot about Mario Kart Wii, actually.

As for MP3 not having onlnie or multiplayer, well, no shit. Metroid is a single player game the prides itself in exploration, atmosphere, puzzle solving, non-linearity, and isolation. It is a single-player experience much like Zelda. Would you complain if Zelda Wii didn't have an online multiplayer? Of course not. That's because Zelda is all about the single-player experience (excluding the Four Swords games).
I'm glad Retro Studios is just focusing on the single-player, and not wasted time on a half-assed multiplayer that will suck anyways. If you want online deathmatches, go play Halo or Hunters. The true Metroid games can stick to the campaign.

Metroid Prime 2 was okayish, but I don't think it lived up to beat Metroid Prime 1. They tried to add a multiplayer, and kinda forgot about single player... so with a half-complete single AND multiplayer, neither of them really made it...
I'm actually really excited for Metroid Prime 3, but taking into consideration the disappointment Metroid Prime 2 was, I'm willing to wait more if it means a better game.
I definitely enjoyed MP more. Still, in the end, I enjoyed the sequel as well.
If there is one thing that I think MP2 did better was in its puzzles, they definitely had a bigger role on the bosses imo. Ohh and the game was definitely more difficult as well, specially on Hard mode.
Voice acting seems to be having a big role on MP3... I'm definitely more and more hyped for it after seeing a few videos:
You can catch a longer vid of the above on IGN. Tho I'm probably going to have to control myself when it comes to spoilers from here on out XP

You clearly know little to nothing about Mario Strikers Charged being online then (and apparently very well done).
Seriously, there's no point in making comments like that if they're pulled out of thin air.
You clearly know little to nothing about online play, period.
I never said Nintendo didn't have an online component, I said it was limited. You're deluding yourself if you think the Wii's online system is even comparable to Xbox Live. Nintendo has shown as little interest as possible in online play, which is clear as day in their approach to online.
There are very few Wii titles in general with actual online components, when most (if not all) of them should have some kind of online connectivity. Microsoft has dictated that every game released for the 360 be compatible with XBL, why can't Nintendo do the same? Or at the very least, make all of their own games online compatible? You listed one game as an example of Nintendo's online capability. There are hundreds of 360 and PS3 titles that do the same.
The Wii online system reminds me a lot of the PS2's online service: isolated, handled on a game-by-game basis. Things like friend codes are counter-intuitive to the whole idea of a seamless, integrated online experience. These kinds of issues can easily be fixed if Nintendo took online play seriously, but they don't. There's obviously some improvements coming down the line (like GG mentioned, EA putting all of their Wii titles online). But there's still no excuse for Nintendo to have released such a barebones online component to begin with.

Oh, and saying that all games should have some form of online connectivity is rediculous. Why the hell should they? I don't want developers wasting time with gimmicky online systems that I'll never use.
Then again, I generally don't give a damn if a game is online or not, so la de fucking da.

Personally, I don't mind. 360 is my online system, Wii is for something completely different. Even then, it's nice to know that things like Brawl, Strikers Charged and Battalion Wars 2 will be online, along with third party games like EA's, Nitrobike and Ghost Squad. Hell, a lot are starting to get leaderboards and 'downloadable content' (Soul Calibur Legends, Geometry Wars, Trauma Center etc). I'm sure it'll get a little better in time, but it's not a major concern for me either way.

Personally, I really don't care. I'll play on-line games on my PC against people I know, but otherwise I don't bother because of the shitheads running around. It just turns me off the whole experience when most people you play can seemingly say nothing more then crude language that doesn't even make sense.

Obviously the one that costs money is gonna be pretty kickass. Nintendo WiFi is never going to be half as good as Xbox Live. But I'm a cheap bastard, so I'll just take what I get, ya know?

amazingly, I actually like the trailer.

Also, I agree with DJ. The only time I'd ever really wanna play online is with people I already know. Whether it's in real life, or people here on LA (still taking challenges in Pokemans).

Since when?
I don't see anything. No 'note', nothing.

Hold it. Trailers on the Virtual Console?
Since when?
I don't see anything. No 'note', nothing.
It just showed up this morning. I heard the news before I got the note, but the item was still on virtual console. Go to the Shop Channel and it should be available on the main page.
That trailer is so fucking orgasmic. I can't wait for the new videos.

I was more excited to see Super Metroid is gonna be on the virtual console come the 20th.

And waking up to a room filled with a blue, pulsating light is a bit freaky, fyi. o.o

It wasn't there. Europe gets screwed again. I think we should do a special 'we're screwed' dance. Thanks NoE, you utter sodding idiots.
My condolences to the UK...although I'd pay to see that dance.
What a pleasant suprise to wake up to this morning. This trailer was gorgeous. The opening of the Sky City...wow. I must say I'm getting a totally different vibe from this game than MP & MP2...almost Zelda like in a few parts. If I saw what I thought I saw, it looked like two bounty hunters were giving high fives or something. I'm used to whimsical side characters in Zelda, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for comic relief in a Metroid game....but this is new territory here so we'll see how it works out.
I'm going to go freeze myself now, to be thawed out on the 27th.

You can find the videos on IGN or maybe even Youtube. Look for Metroid Preview "Corruption" and "Aurora". Aurora is a plot movie that is kinda spoilers but kinda not. I guess it depends on who you ask. I guess Nintendo didn't think it was too bad or else they wouldn't have released it.
