It's about time somebody called me on that one. XPNobody- and I mean nobody- who plays Dance Dance Revolution can talk about looking like an idiot while gaming.

No, I think it was Iwata
Har har, indeed.
Ken: Thanks for the article, but Iwata doesn't say that the Revolution will be $200. He's implying the Revolution will be the cheapest next-gen console (and there's no doubt in my mind that it will be - Nintendo doesn't seem to be going after multiple processors, advanced video cards, or larger media formats with the Rev), but I think it'll be impossible for Nintendo to sell their next-gen console for $200-$250 consoles and still make some kind of profit off of it.
Considering the Xbox 360 is selling for $400, and the PS3 likely to sell at that price (at the very least), the Revolution can still be the cheapest available console if it sells for $300. All I'm saying is, don't get your hopes up about a $200 price point for the Revolution (read: don't use the $200 vs $400 price point as part of an argument about why the Revolution is going to be the greatest console evar).

I'm expecting Dual-Shock 3 to -- first of all not end up shaped like a bat-a-rang -- and to look and act pretty much like a Dual-Shock 2 with gyros tacked on.
MicroSoft, meanwhile, I envision releasing a later controller ($old $eperately) that more closely resembles the Rev-mote control, but perhaps Godzilla scale and with enough buttons to make Halo 3 fans feel intelligent.
The only way I can imagine this kind of thing not happening is if Nintendo managed to copyright every concievable alternative method of simulating the pointing feature.
Who's got $5 on Sony getting theirs to market before even Nintendo?

I believe it's safe to predict that the size of the Revolution's game library will be pretty small. I can't imagine third party companies being very excited at having to develop for this new control style. Kind makes you wonder if that has anything to do with offering downloadable old games.
Um, Flint, I'd hate to break this to you but... All system libraries are small, or at least small at launch. Stop making assumptions that third-party companies won't make Reovlution games becuase of the controller. It has been made explicitly clear that third party companies indeed are interested.
I will once again point to the DS, which had a weak launch, but currently has a decient variety of games.

Generally moving one's whole arm would actually be far more ideal than "flicking" one's wrist for hours on end. One gets you tired and exercised, while the other gets you a serious wrist condition. And if you don't believe me, I'm not just the president, I was also a NegCon owner.if you read the article, you would have found that the trailer was a demo; an exadurated demo. We will only have to flick our wrists around. THey just wanted to get the point across that "THIS IS A NEW INOVATIVE CONTROLLER WITH GYROSCOPE TECHNOLOGY AND IT'LL KICK ARSE!!!!"

I'm just speculating, but it looks like they're going the path of Gillette. That is, give us the console, sell us the peripherals. Examples:Why do people assume this is going to be a cheap console? I can't see Nintendo selling the Revolution for less than $300.
- VGA adapter (old rumor)
- DVD playback add-on.
- Controller attachments.
- The "shell," if that holds any water.
- Downloadable games.
- And, of course, they can set the price of additional controllers at whatever they want; we probably won't see many third-parties directly imitating. Those that do imitate Nintendo can hit up for patent licensing.

Not a statement on the price of the base unit, mind you, but from the sounds of it they'll be rolling in dough from selling us the "blades."

Yeah, I'm a little sick of everyone ignoring the shell. Third party devlopers can just develop for that. And don't slam something untill you hold it yourself.I believe it's safe to predict that the size of the Revolution's game library will be pretty small. I can't imagine third party companies being very excited at having to develop for this new control style. Kind makes you wonder if that has anything to do with offering downloadable old games.
But I will admit that this new controller wouldn't be that bad if it weren't for the "TV remote" part of it. If both halves of the controller were shaped identically and comfortably, I for one would be more accepting. Then again, what's the purpose in splitting the controller in two parts anyway? Uhg.. just completely pointless.

A model airplane was, I believe, one of the demos.I'm sure this controller says different things to a lot of different people. Sword Fighting and FPS being mentioned. But this says one thing to me "Flight-Sim". I dare to say that Revolution (Nrev?) will have the greatest console flight sims to date. Imagine it, you hold the controller in your hands, and pull up on it and twist it to control your plane, just like a real plane. THen this opens up the buttons for a variety of uses, opening and closing flaps, changing weapons, (come to think of it, why change weapons?), I think you get where I'm going.
And it isn't Nrev because Revolution is just a codename. Like Dolphin.

and i din't think the whole "omG!!! it vibrates !!!lets use it in discusting ways!!!" thing could even work, because some thing has to happen in-game to make the controller vibrate, and the vibration only lasts for a few seconds anyway! common! be realistic here!
and an off topic note: i think the new name for the revolution will be something like the "nintendo motion" or something of the sorts, to emphasize the posiblility of the movement of the controller.

It has been done. People have tried it with many different controllers, long before they were of..this particular shape. There have supposedly even been lawsuits. Supposedly. XDand i din't think the whole "omG!!! it vibrates !!!lets use it in discusting ways!!!" thing could even work, because some thing has to happen in-game to make the controller vibrate, and the vibration only lasts for a few seconds anyway! common! be realistic here!
