I haven't heard any rumors that have substantial backing yet, it's mainly guesswork even by the gaming press right now.
But apparently these rumors have circulated so much that people are expecting Nintendo to unveil the controller at TGS. Will it happen? Perhaps. Will it definitely happen? I'm not sure.
One thing that does hit me though is that I remember one of the high ranking Nintendo people mentioned that the Revolution needs to be experienced to truly understand, but since Nintendo doesn't have a booth at TGS I don't think it's possible for that to happen. But that was a while ago, in fact I think it was last year when that was said so anything can happen.
It'll be nice to finally see the controller, but I'm in no hurry. I look at it like this... there are games coming out soon in the next few months for platforms that I own that I can focus my attention on rather than a console that will launch at the very least 8 months away, and then there's the fact that when they decide to show it won't really make the release date become any closer.
They actually said that it won't have a touch screen, or at the very least it won't be the main feature. Besides, a touch screen is better suited on a handheld anyway since I doubt anyone would like to play a touch-screen based game where the main images are on a controller.I bet you can play games with it.
It'll probably just have a touch screen on it. *sigh*

Or this one- it looks like a funkah head: http://img354.images...tion2005081.jpg
But really...I'd think people should be more concerned about wondering what games are coming out for the console, not just..what shape the controller will be. Even if the PS3 controller is...sucky. XD

The controller is supposed to be the world-changing component. Everyone's expecting it to bring about the second coming of Christ. I know I am.

I don't think I'd go that far. Nintendo just said that it's going to bring about new ways to play games. Hopefully no one's going with the holographic image theory that was actually guessed for the Nitro (a.k.a. the DS) :s:The controller is supposed to be the world-changing component. Everyone's expecting it to bring about the second coming of Christ. I know I am.

But it's not going to revolutionize the gaming industry or how we play games - just a cool, Nintendo exclusive way to play Nintendo games.

The DS did bring new ways to play games, after all that's what innovation is all about. New hardware options isn't necessarily needed for innovation or even revolutions (ex: WarioWare, Shenmue, Metal Gear Solid, Doom, Street Fighter II) but it does help to expand the horizon.I'm predicting that the controller will resemble the DS (in a sense). It'll be interesting, and fairly (if not entirely) new technology. But it's not going to revolutionize the gaming industry or how we play games - just a cool, Nintendo exclusive way to play Nintendo games.
New ways to play games = innovation
New hardware may not necessarily be needed, but it gives more options for the designers to explore that wouldn't have been available to them any other way (which does confound me why they're bringing Meteos to cell phones since it isn't really viable to play that game via buttons).

Q: When will the keynote speech take place and how long will it last?
A: Iwata's keynote is scheduled to take place in Japan on Friday, September 16 at 11:00 a.m. However, this date is meaningless to Americans because our time zones are so different -- Japan is roughly 16 hours ahead. Readers hoping to catch the news as it happens should tune into IGNcube on Thursday, September 15 at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Gamespot's rumor control seems to be pretty confident. Let's put them to the test

Well that's basically how it is. But those few more options may be pretty significant when used correctly. After all just an addition of shoulder buttons here (SNES controller), an analog stick here (N64 controller), analog sensitive shoulder triggers there (DC controller) and a second analog stick over somewhere (PSX controller) and walla... we've got games that probably normally won't be even possibly be created as fluidly.but still i really dont think it will be all that great....just a few more options..
