Posting twice in the same thread only to say that you don't like the subject is what we like to call spam. Please don't do it.Believe me. I know what looks dumb and what doesn't thankyou very much

And InuYasha does still have enough violence to be Adult Swim-worthy...which is exactly what Naruto originally was, before their mad cutting to have it 'appeal to a larger audience'. Which makes it sad that by trying to 'appeal to more people', it's just pissing off more fans into not wanting to see it at all.
As a side note..Kris, could you please try to use full words and at least put spaces between the period and the first word of the next sentence? It'd just make reading your posts a little easier. ^^;

Exactly. The only reason I started watching Naruto in the first place was because the writing group that I'm apart of, The Diaries Guild, currently has a fic called Naruto Diaries. I wanted to understand what was going on in that.
So I watched the first episode, and thought it was cool.
Then I found out that we were probably going to get nowhere in a year's worth of time.
Therefore I went for the Manga, and grinned at the sight of all the blood.
So the lesson of this thread is: read the manga, don't give the Toonami dub credit and wait until the DVD's come out, and laugh at the people who are three story arcs behind because they waited for cartoon network to show episodes 53-104.
(That last part is exaguration).
I'm currently on Manga Chapter 120.

Oi, and now you've got me thinking, Brendan. One thing I dislike about the dub is the obsession with saying Naruto's name (and mispronouncing it every time). It can't be "that punk kid", it hasta be "that punk Naruto". It can't be "I don't like him", it hasta be "I don't like that Naruto". "Naruto's an idiot, but Naruto is also great at surprising people, which makes Naruto blah blah blah..." They can be staring directly at the guy and pointing their finger at him, and still find it necessary to say his name when making any reference about him, as though otherwise we won't know who they're talking about. That's just retardedRanma is the best? Pfft. If you're talking about the anime, it's drivel compared to the manga. And if you're talking about the manga...it's fine for a while, but after twenty or thirty volumes of them going through the same issues with little plot change, it gets old. Of all of Rumiko Takahashi's works, InuYasha's still my fave.

Inuyasha is great, but way too long. I haven't seen Ranma, but knowing it is from Rumiko Takashi as well, it probably suffers from the same problems.

I like One Piece and Shaman King...The dub, to be quite frank, sucks. While it isn't as bad as say, One Piece or any other 4kids dub, it still sucks. Not all the characters seem bad (heck I like Kakashi), but Naruto himself is what ruins it for me. The way he talks is annoying. Also he the way he say believe it every 5 seconds makes me and my friends want to kill him.
But Heck Yeah...Naruto is SOOOO Annoyhing in this one

Actually, the dub has been prounouncing Naruto's name right. One thing I dislike about the dub is the obsession with saying Naruto's name (and mispronouncing it every time).
Well, the censors are to blame for that. They're okay with blood dripping when someone gets stabbed and/or killed, but they're not okay with blood goring out like a waterfall (which was what those nose bleeds looked like, actually, the blood that came out of their nose was actually more blood than somebody has in their whole body. o_O;)That, and it was hilarious to see their blood-editting. For instance: they editted out Iruka getting a nosebleed over Naruto's Sexy Jutsu, but they couldn't edit out the blood on his leg from being stabbed by a kunai, or on his back from a giant shuriken
Naruto was intended for kids in Japan. Yes, it has killing and blood (Maybe nudity, but I don't remember seeing any nudity in Naruto), but the censors in Japan are more different then America, Japanese kids are much more mature than American kids.nope. naruto was for an older audience. cartoon network has a way of...babying things up.
Naruto's VA is a beginner, so give her a break (although she's getting better into character in these past few episodes), besides, Naruto's voice is almost like in the original. Naruto's dub is excellent compared to 4kids's crap dubs. It has less edits, they keep the original names, and they actually call the Sharingan Eye the Sharingan Eye instead of the "evil eye" like in the manga. Hating the dub just because you think they screwed over a character's voice is sad, really. The dub, to be quite frank, sucks. While it isn't as bad as say, One Piece or any other 4kids dub, it still sucks. Not all the characters seem bad (heck I like Kakashi), but Naruto himself is what ruins it for me. And it's close to the original, which most dubs aren't. I'm actually thankful for Naruto's dub, it gives me more hope that more dubs would improve.
I'm also glad it's the first TVPG anime on Toonami, when I first found that out, I knew that it might actually be decent. CN's censors are the only things that bother me about the dub.

I think Haku is a girl posing as a boy, and I will not think otherwise until I see proof that she is not.
Haku is a boy. He says he's a boy, and every SINGLE freaking time he's referred to with a pronoun the pronoun is 'he'. The whole "But he's prettier that Sakura!" was more of a joke on bishounen than anything else.

Mmm...nope. They haven't been. I may be able to speak Japanese on the level of a three year old, but the difference in pronunciation of a lot of their names still sounds grating to me.Actually, the dub has been prounouncing Naruto's name right.
I know she's a beginner. The point is that they should NOT have put a beginner into the lead role of a series that much anticipated. And the voice is...similar to the original one, but still not all that perfect (though admittedly, it's hard to do with a generally small selection of American VA's).Naruto's VA is a beginner, so give her a break
They says Sharingan in all the official Shonen Jump manga that I have.It has less edits, they keep the original names, and they actually call the Sharingan Eye the Sharingan Eye instead of the "evil eye" like in the manga.

Anyway...Dai, Haku's a boy. Get over it. The mystery to his gender is supposed to be a joke, and I think him having the soft features and gentleness of a girl is supposed to accent how innocent his mind is (he doesn't find joy in killing - he just wants to be a perfect tool to make Zabuza happy).
And Dai - if you want to see a deviant society, you'd better remember that we live in a culture that includes families with small children who like to sit around the tv watching professional wrestlers beat the crud out of each other while scantily clad, fake-breasted women cheer them on. Please try to keep the talk about personal morals and beliefs about society to the Contro section.

Dai Grepher: Haku has said before that deceiving your opponent is essential in battle. How do you know that Haku calling herself a boy is not a deception to protect her true identity? If her moto were about being deceptive to the opponent then why would she outright say that she is a boy? Wouldn’t it be better having them believe her to be a female, who we all know are weaker in battle? Also, all those other times she was called a boy it was by people who were told Haku was a boy.
Dai Grepher: Like I said, I will not be convinced of that until I see proof. Her battle clothing is a dress, she has painted fingernails, she wore a pink dress when she found Naruto in the forest, she has long hair, some of which she keeps in a "Chung Li" type hair bonnet, and her voice is acted out by a woman. Now, I know that last one is not really strong evidence because many male anime characters have female voiceover artists. However, most of these male characters are little kids and only a very few are teens or adults. The only one that I can think of right now is that one from Inuyasha that was one of the band of seven, but there were a lot of things that gave that character away as a male.

Dai Grepher: The WWE is entertainment for older teens and adults. If some people allow their children to watch it then it is their choice and their problem. Also, the fans know that it is fake, so they know that it is hurting no one. They do not enjoy it because of the things you stated.

What, and America isn't sexually deviant?
This is the most bemusing thing I've seen. In a discussion about censorship, Dai comes up with this totally random quote that makes little to no sense.
I'm sorry, Dai, but when it comes to censorship, they totally screw the hell out of animes shown in America. They remove references to death, or hell, and most kids watching uncensored anime will not turn into some kind of twisted weirdo.
And I have no idea how it would make them sexually deviant, and why that has any relevance.
Anyway, on the subject of Naruto - they have stupid headband things. Stupid stupid stupid.
