The only reason that the MS is in OoX is as an allusion to OoT.

Ah, yes, of course.

And the only reason you play as Link is an allusion to The Legend of Zelda, and then there's the Triforce, that's an allusion to ALttP, along with Ganon, and Twinrova's an allusion to OoT, and Aquamentus and all those bosses are allusions to TLoZ, and...

...Seriously, you can't say 'it's an allusion' and pretend it doesn't exist. The games allude to themselves all the bloody time.

Can't frankly I've had it with every saying the Master Sword in Oracles is a bloody allusion and/or easter egg. So much in fact, I've taken up a British accent. So you don't need the sword and you can only get through linking the games and using a bunch of bloody secrets. The entire final showdown with Twinrova and Ganon doesn't even take place till you finish both linked games. That right there is an even bigger gimmick than the the one used to acquire the Master Sword. I guess that part of the game didn't happen then.

All of those things (excluding the recycled bosses) are important to the storyline of the games. In OoX, however, the MS is only there for fun, and possibly because it was intended as a sequel to OoT-MM storyline arc.

How is it only there for "fun" when the reason it's not important to the story applies to those things you just listed, most partically Ganon's appearance in the games at all.

That's just rubbish anyway, because they were never intended as a sequel to OoT/MM. For one thing, Ganon is dead.

But that's just because Capcom has a tendency to make mistakes like that. I don't actually think that they are a sequel to OoT/MM, but seeing as those were the most popular Zelda games at that time, and OoX was sort of sequel-ish, it probably was intended to have come after OoT/MM. Also there are a large amount of characters in OoA who are also in MM.

...For the millionth time, Nintendo made the games as well. It was a team effort. And it's a bit rich to suggest that Ganon, being, well, DEAD is just a 'mistake'.

God, you might as well just ignore the Oracle games completely by your logic.

The Oracle games were SO never intended to be sequels. Obviously they borrowed a few things from the previously released games BECAUSE THAT ALWAYS HAPPENS. But when it comes to storyline issues, no, never sequels.

So basically you're saying that they are pointless allusions, which you are so adamantly against recognising?

No, what she is saying that games borrow of elements of other games within the franchize all the time but that doesn't make them pointless allusions. It's called continuity.

If you say so. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, because this argument is going nowhere.

Basically what Mario Jr. said. There's loads of 'allusions' in the Zelda series and you can't just assume one is more 'pointless' than any other. That's all.

But some allusions are clearly meaningless... E.g. the Ballad of the Wind Fish in MM. Despite not sounding anything like the real one, should we take this to mean that some Zoras ecaped from Koholint? No.

Slightly different to a usable and legendary sword called the 'Master Sword' that you find in the Lost Woods (well, possibly).

Okay, well, what's the story behind the M.S. in OoX? I'm not really sure about it, but I think somebody tried to draw a line to WW from it a long time ago.

Finding all the pieces in a puzzle is the first step to solving it, is it not?

And another thing we've skipped, and I'm not sure how relevant this is, but what about the Stones, Pearls, Pendants, and whatever else you've got?

Okay, well, what's the story behind the M.S. in OoX?

Depending on how you play the games it can be found in different ways.

1. Having your Noble Sword sharpened by King Zora (Secret from Seasons to Ages).
2. Reward for an enemy defeating mini-game (Secret from Ages to Seasons). [I've not done this one myself, any more details would be appreciated]
3. Hidden in Holodrum's Lost Woods (trading sequence in Seasons).
4. A broken sword from an old Zora being repaired in a strange ritual (trading sequence in Ages).
5. Game transfer through Farore the Oracle of Secrets.

Am I the only who notices that the broken sword could have been found by the old Zora in the ocean? Or that it's broken because it snapped out of the petrified Ganondorf's forehead due to the pressure of the ocean?

This may explain Ganondorf's escape from the end of TWW.

Also, the Oracles games seems nicer if you play it Ages then Seasons. That way the story arc with the Queen's boyfriend is resolved.

In that case, the noble sword being sharpened by King Zora is the least likely of the events to happen.

To explain what happens with the enemy defeating game, a mysterious, wise old man challenges you to defeat a certain number of enemies in a time limit, and if he judges your strength to be adequate, he imbues your Noble Sword with more power and it becomes the Master Sword.

That is the method if you start with Ages and then go to Seasons.
I think all options are equally likely. The fans pick which option they like the best.
