青沼 今作の物語は『時のオカリナ』から数10年経った設定。『時のオカリナ』と『風のタクト』のあいだで す。
http://www.famitsu.c...,39303,0,0.html
I will make it litteral this time:
Aonuma: this production's story is established decades after OoT. Between OoT and WW.

BTW, you will realize something is fishy when the article you are refering to says that japanese people does not understand what a shepard is!! In the japanese version at Famitsu, the explanation is that shepards tend sheep while cowboys tend cattle...That is why the team named Link a cowboy rather than a shepard.
Edit: I will also refer to the fact that Link's starting point, Toaru village, is not in Hyrule. So Hyrule might be lost in a flood at the end (as in WW pre-story), while Link manage to save his own people.

Now websites are reporting that the quote was a mistake and that it takes place generations after WW. So I guess we're back at square one.
Er, source please?

Read my earlier post from Famitsu magazine and their report from the roundtable discussion.

Hyrule cant be flooded, as Link travels there later in the game, when he leaves the Village

Also, nobody would remember Link 'defeating' Ganon. Besides, closing the Door of Time is hardly a 'defeat'. And he certainly didn't defeat him with the Master Sword as other quotes state he did.
And most of all, Ganon himself recognises Link as the one who defeated him. If the last time he saw him was when he entered the Sacred Realm, how would he know?
How would *anyone* know he was the Hero of Time? As far as anyone else knew, nothing happened.
Also, Wind Waker has already been confirmed as occuring after the future events of OoT, by Miyamoto and Aonuma together in an interview. If I remember correctly, they may of mentioned the fact that Ganon was sealed, too, although saying that it occurs after the future events means that's a given, anyway.
QUOTE]
I never thought of this, but maybe the people of Hyrule think that the Hero of Time will always be around because he's a time traveler. It could be 30 yrs down the line and when evil arises they immediately await for the Hero of Time to arise and save them. Perhaps, some of the people who encounter TP Link will think he's the Hero of Time. Maybe Ganon will also think the same as well, which is why he recognizes Link in TWW (other than the fact he saw him in OOT as well--but that depends on how you look at OOT). So why isn't TP Link remembered? Simple, he and Hyrule will be washed away, and no one may know of his exploits.

Where does that say that the other quote was a mistake?

Okay, so most sources say the game takes place before The Wind Waker.
GameSpy says it takes place after The Wind Waker.
It looks like GameSpy made the mistake in their transcript.
You are saying that the whole "it takes place before The Wind Waker" thing has been confirmed to be a mistake.
Where was it confirmed to be a mistake?

lol I just put in the Japanese text Johan wrote here in Babelfish translation (http://babelfish.altavista.com/) and here's what it gave me:
"Blue swamp now the story of the work ' ocarina ' empty several dozen years of time the setting which passes. ' The ocarina of the time ' and ' the takt of the wind ' it does in between."
Yup...sounds like between OoT and TWW to me.

How true this is I don't know, but I vaguely remember that Gamespy interview originally saying it was inbetween OoT and WW, but now it says it's after WW.
Seriously have no clue. I think someone's messing with us.
