Wow...I see a weird trend in this thread! On topic...off topic...further off topic...back on topic. Hmm.
Well anyway I felt the need to post here seeing as I am, too, a Roman Catholic. But I hate debating with people (it's just not in my nature) so I'll just give my opinion on this topic. I do believe in the Death Penalty for certain cases, but not all. Like, oh let's say, Timothy McVay (I think that's how you spell it). He blew a daycare full of innocent children to bits. He deserved the death penalty.
I am very much pro-life when it comes to abortion though. Me, my sister, my boyfriend and his brother were all adopted into loving homes. I'm really glad you guys aren't just sitting around ripping us Catholics to shreads.
And also, I forget who it was, but whoever posted that quote from the Catechism was very smart. That is the book, along with the bible of course, that we Catholics are supposed to look too. Now, personally, I use the Church and it's teachings to guide my life and choices, but I do not follow every single rule. Like, for instance, I do believe in a wife following her natural cycle to predict when she's ovulating so to avoid endless pregnancies.
One last thing: I know rich Catholics and I know dirt poor Catholics (I'm somewhere near the dirt poor one, but not quite). My point is, your church doesn't depend on your personal wealth, your occupation does. I wish the wealthier people at my church would give more money, but they can't pay for everything. My church is still in debt and needs help getting out of it and unfortunately there aren't enough rich people to pull us out of the hole.
