I never know when to even look for this stuff online. All I want is my Wario and Ganondorf!

We are nine days and counting till the latest shit show. May we all have mercy on our miserable souls. Thoughts? Comments?

I'm very, very happy that I don't have to participate in the crapfest that is going to be the 29th. I've already ordered everything I wanted either from WalMart or from eBay, getting incredibly lucky with the deals I found. To wit:
-Pac-Man: I got him for the original asking price of $12.99 CAD, getting very lucky and finding some pre-orders available on WalMart. He hovers around $30 CAD on eBay.
-Jigglypuff: The prices for this one just refuse to go below $40 CAD, even after eBay was flooded with Japanese versions, so I caved and bought it for that. Considering this was exclusive to Target though, I'll take it.
-Splatoon 3-Pack: Some utterly beautiful soul on eBay sold this for $65 CAD while the rest were all $80 and up, so I ordered from him while giving him several thank-yous. Original asking price was $34.99 CAD, so I actually got it for less than double; I was expecting to have to pay $100+ considering the price of some single amiibos (the 3-Packs on Amazon do go for that much) and seeing as it was sold out freaking everywhere.
Honestly, if you guys want advice on wrangling the stupidly popular amiibos and couldn't get a pre-order: just get them from eBay or Play-Asia. Seriously, this is as cheap as they go for, and I'll happily spend a bit more money instead of being one of the poor saps waiting in those huge lines only to be sent home empty-handed an hour or two later because they were all sold out. Just order online and bypass the shitstorm on the 29th entirely.

Well I was able to reserve my Pac-Man amiibo at Toys R Us, thanks to you telling us about it, Jerp.
No worries, happy to help. At least I know I'm getting Greninja on the 29th. With any luck, Lucina and Robin as well.

I decided to not bother sleeping last night, played Dark Souls till 3 and went over to Target. 3:30am, the line was at 12-15 people. Knowing this wasn't going to work, had to make a choice between Toys R Us or Best Buy, the former offering multiple choices for more risk while the other posed a strict "one amiibo for one customer" rule which meant I'd at least get one that I wanted. Fortune favors the bold, I drove the Toys R Us right next to a local mall. Lines couldn't form till 6am, I arrive around 5 and wait out the purgatory before the actual line hoping from place to place to not piss off Mall Security. 6am rolls in, I manage to get fourth spot in line and have a really good time chatting it up with the folks next to me in line. Two guys from Boston who got here around midnight, a woman helping out her son who was further down in the Target line and a couple celebrating the beginning of their 6-month anniversary to participate in this depraved and deluded practice.
The store opened at 10am, I hear from friends that the Target line got a line crazy, doubling in size almost by the end of it and plenty of folks not getting some of the rarer ones like Robin and Lucina. I begin to worry to, until the folks from the store come out and start handing out tickets for each one they have. Their supply was beyond insane, at least 150 Greninja in the store and plenty of everything, plus Marth's re-release. I leave with Marth, Lucina, Robin for a friend, Greninja from a pre-order a while back and that's about it. My Gamestop pre-orders for Ness and Wario also shipped today and will come by sometime next week. Got home around 11:30-12pm and slept for two hours to break the 24+ hour span I've been awake.
It's totally ridiculous and I'm dead tired but I finally feel I won something here.

I snagged Pac-Man, Wario, and the Splatoon 3-Pack. I also grabbed Robin from TigerDirect but I am sort of expecting it to be canceled on me.
My wallet is screaming at me.

I got a Pac-Man. Amazon made it very easy. I'm pleased.

My collateral Jigglypuff came in the mail today. Ness and a friend's Wario soon as well as the Shulk I pre-ordered a thousand years ago.

My Splatoon 3-Pack arrived today! Jigglypuff should be arriving sometime this... month? The wait time on the shipment was pretty huge.

TigerDirect unsurprisingly canceled my Robin. I'm not upset though. He's easily my least favorite of the four Fire Emblems.

Theories between me and local hunters had put Wario, Pac-Man and Charizard in the Common to Uncommon categories. But as of now, nothing. All the stores in my area are fresh out of any Amiibo for wave 4. Methinks it's gonna be like that for a little while before any new shipments trickle back in and we see someone of them show up again. Though the Inklings was a good idea, the three-pack has become quite the rarity.

I saw some Pac-Mans a few days after, but that was it. I haven't seen a single Charizard or Wario in the wild.

You've tasted blood and nothing is going to stop that lust from growing.
If all else fails, research the functions of each amiibo before you buy them so you won't be making any needless purchases.

Well, this was unexpected.

a few weeks back, I got Ganon and Yarn Yoshi imported for $20 each.

Nintendo says that they are open to more third-party amiibo.
I suddenly like Nintendo a lot more now. If ever you wanted an amiibo of an obscure character, this is the time to ask.
Also, as an aside: there has been so much hate for third-party/indie characters in the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot, with many people citing "indie" as the main reason why they will never, ever happen. This indie amiibo's reveal with the potential promise of more down the road has finally silenced that damned argument, and after seeing it for the 1,000th time this makes me happier than it should.

Goddammit, there were new Amiibo at Best Buy when I went to pick up Mario Maker.
I was able to resist Zero Suit Samas and Wario, but Olimar would not be denied.
Posted 11 September 2015 - 08:21 PM
No more Zero Suit Samus, but a couple Olimars and pegs upon pegs of Bowser Jr when I rolled up to grab Mario Maker.
Also, were there supposed to be some reprints of rare Amiibo sometime? I'm not collecting them but I genuinely want a Captain Falcon since, let's face it, there'll never be another F-Zero toy made.

Been getting most of the amiibos I wanted from Amazon, all set with Palutena and Ganondorf for now. Probably getting Mewtwo, Roy and Lucas as they come out later on. Not sure if I'm taking the amiibo collection out of Smash Bros.

I picked up Ganondorf, Olimar, and ZSuit Samus at Amazon thanks to my ninja cellphoning at work on Friday. I still have the Retro 3 pack pre-ordered as well.
Still bummed I missed out on Palutena. And I just can't be assed to go hunt down the store exclusives, fortunately none of them have been must haves yet.

I'm glad I didn't buy Dark Pit then. Whenever I see an Amiibo on a shelf for the first time, I do a quick check on the rarity in case it's worth buying solely to deny it to a collector. With Dark Pit, I stayed strong, and a restock would have ruined my plan anyhow.
