Hm...I've seen the season with The Valeyard, I don't think so. The Valeyard is supposed to come in somewhere between the Twelfth and Thirteenth Doctor, but Eleven referred to Hurt exclusively in the past tense. That being said, if Hurt's a lost Doctor between 8 and 9 as he seems to be, that means the Valeyard might be coming soon.

There's really only two gaps he could fit into. Before the First (unlikely) and between McGann and Eccleston. Technically we didn't fully see the Second Doctor regenerate into the Third, but there's not really a gap there - Pertwee even started in Troughton's costume.

The Doctor learned all he would've needed too about the Valeyard's motives from that season though. He would be almost as familiar with the Valeyard as he would with the Master, the only reason I would think we wouldn't get it is for that reason, there's little left to tell.

Then again, Daleks are still a thing, and that last Cyberman story brought some cool new stuff to the table, so I can see it working.
Hurt being an older McGann is ok, but only if we get young McGann as well, since, IIRC, he's mentioned he'd love to return.

EDIT: This must be DREADFULLY boring for Kissy, so I'm going to recommend that she try out the Big Finish Eighth Doctor Adventures series.

Has it ever be been outright stated in canon  which incarnation of the Doctor we are on? I mean, I know we all use 9, 10, and 11 to refer to the last few Doctors, but what if really they are the 10th, 11th, and 12th?

The new series has been pretty explicit that we're on Eleven, the Doctor even says it in The Lodger. If Hurt's a lost incarnation somewhere in there we're on the Twelfth, but apparently the Doctor doesn't count him because of whatever he did. I'm guessing war crimes during the Time War. So there'd be twelve incarnations but eleven Doctors, basically.

If you're watching on Netflix, don't worry. The 2009 specials are included in the 4th season now, which is why it has 18 episodes. A good thing, too - the way they had it arranged before, you'd have been very, very confused if you'd gone straight from Journey's End to The Eleventh Hour XD

Oh yeah? The only one included when I watched last was The Next Doctor. The other specials were still on Netflix though. Well. Except Planet of the Dead.

Oh, they don't. That's odd, but...well, thankfully that episode's not very important. Except for the psychic woman. Kissy, let me know when you've seen the Next Doctor and I'll show you the clip of the psychic woman. The rest of the episode's actually one of the most missable of the whole series. Though if your TV package includes BBC America it'll be on at some point. Actually, it was just on yesterday.

The Next Doctor is the name of the episode before the missing one.

 

You will find out who River is over the course of the next few seasons. You'll never know his name. But it's probably a meaningless jumble of syllables anyway, other Time Lords from the classic series had names like Rassilon, Spandrell, Maxil and Romanadvoratrelundar. Yes. Why some people seemed to legitimately expect a human name is beyond me.

Okay, well...according to a 70's book called The Making of Doctor Who by then script editor Terrance Dicks, the Doctor's name is δ³Σx². Not necessarily pronounced like Greek, which would basically be d³Sch², with "ch" like Scottish "loch. Old High Gallifreyan just looks like that. Make of it what you will.
