Pokemon Yin White - Chapter 2
When we last left our intrepid hero...

Yawn.

N doesn't like my systematic oppression of Pokemon.

Eelektross is a bastard of a Pokemon to fight. I may have to get one myself.
But I'm getting about 60 levels ahead of myself.

"I swear the fish I caught was THIS big!"
Fake Out is a new attack in Treecko's level-up move pool. I dig it. I believe the Japanese name for the attack is
Fureeu Damageru.

He's tough but I take him down. And that's all of N right now. I forsee him not being so easy from now on.
On Route 2, there's a bevy of new Pokemon to catch.

Rattatas have Tail Whip, Focus Energy (which works correctly in this game), and Quick Attack.
They will use all of them, every battle, and if it takes you more than 3 turns to take one down, expect mass casualties. Enemy AI, even in random encounters, is strategic. Wild Pokemon will prioritize buffs and debuffs, and they will hurt you.

Darumaka is a glass cannon, but he hits hard. He loses a chunk of special attack in this hack, but gains a little special defense, which is honestly a nice trade, but his speed is unaltered. In a hack where most stats are raised, this makes him effectively even slower than before.

Charmander, on the other hand, is a blank slate. He can fit more roles than Darumaka, and functions pretty well as a mixed sweeper. The hacker keeps his stats mostly even, though the lack of a boost to special attack allows his physical power to equal his special power even more closely.

Interestingly enough, all trainers have access to every generation's Pokemon too. This means that each and every trainer battle in the game has been lovingly redone, not just our rivals and gym leaders. Kind of impressive.
Spoiler: I burn the shit out of that Combee.
What else is in the grass?

Heyyy. I'll take that.
Welcome to the team, 12PM Tacos! (thanks, Jerp!)

Poochyena's early moveset isn't different, he just learns his attacks a little earlier. He gets Bite at level 8, as opposed to 14. This means that before the first gym, you're fighting a fast Pokemon that can buff its attack stat, and then hit you with a STABed attack that causes flinching.
Picture me getting my ass kicked my Rattatas, Poochyenas, and a couple unhittable Ralts that spam Double Team. The grass also contains Skitty, Purrloin, Pidove, and Shinx.
Then picture me running to the next town to use the Pokecenter with a team full of half-dead limp bodies.
Actually, you don't even have to use your imagination! Here!

Yep.

Picture me instantly kicking myself for not remembering this battle.
That is Bianca's Ralts up there, by the way.
The fight goes like this:
Salsa uses Defense Curl to power up Rollout.
Ralts uses 4 Double Teams in a row.
I get Ralts to critical, Bianca heals it full.
I get Ralts to critical in one hit with my fourth Rollout in a row. Somehow they aren't missing!
Bianca heals it to full.
Rollout misses. Ralts uses Double Team again.
I throw Incinerates at Ralts and he avoids them all. With 6 Double Teams under his belt, he steamrolls Salsa. Then he steamrolls Chili. He's on fire, so I cool him down with Guac.
The hard part's over. Bianca's only got Piplup left.

Piplup's a resilient mofo, and takes 3 Absorbs to before he's critical. Bianca heals him full, and I knock him back down.
Phew.
I skip the gym for now, and focus on grinding more than a high school dance. Baddies are mopping the floor with me.

Spoinks are surprisingly difficult. This one wrecked 12PM Tacos despite the type advantage.
This trainer also has a Taillow that hit me for 1/3 of my health with a quick attack, and came equipped with Moxie (raises attack one level for every Pokemon it knocks out). It hit
hard.
Her third Pokemon?

Squirtle!
This fucking Squirtle one-shotted two of my Pokemon. He must be descended from Showsni's Squirtle. Guac sucked up his juices like a sponge though.
I grabbed Panpour from the guy in the Dreamyard, but that's boring!
LET'S FISH!

I love being able to fish this early. It's such a novelty.
I tried the fountian. No dice.

I play mind games with my opponents. I pretend to be a slavering, homless crack addict to lower their guard.

: "LIVE AND LET DIE! GO! 12PM TACOS!"
I decide to capture this Frillish. Even though he's Gen V, you usually can't get one until way late in the game.
He is christened Blue Cheez.

Further fishing yields:

Luvdisc!

And Finneon!
Let me pause for a moment to talk about Finneons. This pond is full of level 7 Finneons with Charm and Water Gun. Charm lowers attack by two stages, and Water Gun has been altered to also lower special defense, often. Finneons also hold a berry that reduces super effective damage. They can soften you up really fast, and also mitigate the damage you do to them.
This is, again, a level 7 enemy before the first gym. This hack is mean, but I love it.
For the sake of progres, here's Chili still being average at everything:

I'm in the middle of a training montage as we speak.
Tomorrow,
WE TAKE THE FIRST GYM!
