I get right to work on Cool Ranch. He takes on a breeder with a team full of babby Pokemon.
Oh, who's Cool Ranch?

His name becomes fitting in a way I hadn't anticipated quite soon.
Wild Pokemon just outside the cave to the west of the Day Care?

A tempting catch, to be sure, but I distinctly remember Swablu being an iffy combatant until he grows up into Altaria.

After a few levels, Cool Ranch learns Ice Shard, which is Quick Attack, but Ice-type. It's a great attack, and all the elemental Quick Attacks of Gen V kick ass.
Also I don't catch that Wurmple pffffft

This Pikachu is unfazed by my prowess. His nonchalance impresses me.

Kricketots are kinda cool, but I don't roll with many bugs.

In this Route, we git Pikachu, Mareep, Electrike, and Blitzle if you're boring, so the game is pretty much telling you to get an electric type.
I've got a decision to make. I've had a great Ampharos before. I don't really dig Manectric. And Raichu is a stone evolution.
So I check their movepools and discover something awesome.

Pokemon evolved with stones (who aren't Eevee) continue to learn new level-up attacks. Often, they're remarkably different than their previous form! Not being penalized for stone evolutions opens up a world of choices I usually ignore.
I decide upon Raichu, though I don't think I'll have a Thunderstone until Castelia City. It's a bit of a wait, but it's faster than the other choices.
So I go fetch Queso and then head to the cave to beat up Team Plasma with Cheren.

To be honest, I'm a little jealous of the Pokemon Team Plasma are rocking. I absolutely love that they use a wide variety of Pokemon. Whoever decided that the evil guys should all use the same handful of 4-5 Pokemon is a jerk who hates fun.

I was really underwhelmed by Joltik's stat spread in vanilla White. If I run into one in this game, I may reconsider if his stats have improved.

I kind of love Ferroseed. Right now, I love Ferroseed because 4X FIRE WEAKNESS

It's time to fight with Ralts instead of against him.
I'm not sure his strategy of "6 Double Teams" will help in a double battle, considering I can still get hit just fine.

Of course I blow my first turn switching out Cool Ranch because he's facing down two lightning types.
Plus, Queso's got Lightningrod!

Mini spoiler: Flash is now a Electric-type move.
Ralts is actually a useful ally in battle. He was on the ball with clutch Confuse Rays and dished out lots of Psychic pain.
However, Queso's only level 11, so at some point I've gotta let him sit the battle out.

The grunts still have two steel types up their sleeve.
I still hit them with Fake Out because I am stubborn. Then I switch out to Charmeleon and melt them.
Cheren peaces, and I'm free to explore the cave/grind Cool Ranch on sweet, sweet Rock-type flesh.
There's also a fishin' hole, and I plan to grind Queso on sweet, sweet Water-type flesh.
...is that vaguely sexual for everyone else too?
Wild encounters in the cave, aside from Roggenrola:

D'aww. I've had some cool Golems, but Rock/Ground is a bad time for everyone.

Woopers are neat Electric bait, and Quagsire has over 110 in 4 stats. I've said a couple times that I have no electric answer.
That said, I didn't catch him. I've got my water type.

Let's fish!

Ohhh boy are you lucky, Cool Ranch. If I found this first you'd be warming the PC Box.
Because Poke Blocks / Poffins / Whatever are dumb, Feebas now evolves when holding a Prism Scale.
I also happen to already have a Prism Scale. See, Poochyena has Pickpocket. When he's hit by a physical attack, he steals the opposing Pokemon's held item. In this hack, almost every Pokemon is wearing a held item. I've got a lot of neat shit in my bag thanks to him.
Having a level 15 Milotic is a neat prospect, so I catch him.

That's Roe and Mayonnaise Doritos!

He is christened Roe Mayo.
But c'mon, I've got an Oshawott.

This lake seems to only contain Feebas and Magikarp. If you lean close to the water and cup your ear, you can hear thousands of whispers all chanting "SOON."

I take down at least 30-40 while grinding Queso.

I'm sure that Karma will never come back to bite me.
After this level-up, Queso wants to learn Flash. I finally get to see what the heck is different about Flash.

Well now! It's a damaging attack, stronger than ThunderShock, and still cuts accuracy.
Twist my arm!

I've never had a Politoed. Ever.
So I catch this lil guy.

Cooler. Like the DBZ villian.
In less exciting news

Splash got changed too.

Magikarps learn quick a few attacks and can punch holes in your defense. And they're really fast. They can kind of be assholes in later levels.

Whismurs are kinda neat. I pommel this one without mercy because I wasn't aware that Cool Ranch doesn't evolve at 16, but 17, and I am EXP hungry.

(Missed a crop. Sue me.)
Cool Ranch immediately learns Razor Shell and Ice Fang. Razor Shell could use some more PP, but it's a solid attack. Ice Fang can Freeze and/or force flinching.

I'm satisfied with my levels, so I head out, but take the long way through the grass for some more EXP.

I always caught Spearow in Red/Blue because Pidgeys are for CHUMPS.
This game is no different.

I take on a trainer on the South fork of the road.

Haha! I've never frozen something before! This fight lasts a while because this dude has two Super Potions.
But nothing to thaw his Oddish.

Cool Ranch is the coolest ranch.

Next time, I may or may not encounter yet another Starter in the wild.
(It's the first one.)
(I do.)

It looks something like this:

Give me a post after this so I don't double/triple post, and I'll have an update for y'all later tonight.

Chapter 8 - Suddenly Overpowered (alt. title: FUUUU I HIT SOME OBSCURE KEY COMMAND THAT TURNED ON PRIVATE BROWSING AND WIPED THE ENTIRE UPDATE I HAD WRITTEN)
So, after that minor detail into a cave, I am back on the path toward Second Gym City. I always wondered why the Normal Gym was in a town of arteests and hippies.

I teach this to Verde immediately. He needs an upgrade to Water Gun so badly. It also confuses, but he doesn't leave things alive long enough to be confused.
Also, I run into my first patch of thick double battle grass. You can see Cheren creeping in it through the text box up there.

The encounter tables are different, and double battles are a nice way of grinding two Pokemon at once. Especially if you've got a few attacks that hit both opponents.
Speaking of grinding, look how grossly overleveled I am! Having to grind up for the gym made me inordinately stronger than these wild Pokemon. The hacker, despite raising gym Pokemon levels, neglected to raise wild Pokemon levels, so I end up with less EXP per fight. In the long run, this means more grinding.

The hack guy likes to put the best Pokemon in thick grass.
However, this battle is more significant because of that Minun. Remember how I said 12PM Tacos has Pickpocket? Well I learned this battle that Minuns carry Thunderstones. And guess which adorable bunny tried to physically attack my mean, rogue-like dog?

Seriously, this is the 4th Pokemon on my team to learn Fake Out. The game is just feeding me new Pokemon who learn it because it knows how much I love this move. It's like Quick Attack for douchebags.

Sir Tacos also sheds his squishyness.

In doing so, though, he's lost Pickpocket in favor of Intimidate.
I'm bummed, but a few updates from now I'm going to abuse Intimidate so hard, so I can't really complain.

I have Sun Stones. I could have a Sunflora right now if I wanted.
Except I have two good Grass-types already.
And it's not a good Pokemon.
Even in this hack.
And that's saying something.
Just sayin, there's a lot of options open all the time. If I was somehow hurting for a Grass-type, I can have a fully-evolved one with a decent stat bump with a snap of my fingers.

I catch this here Gothita just in case. She's pretty strong, and I've never owned one before.

Her name is Synile.

My faaaavorite!

I just grab a handful of Leaf Stones on the ground. Don't know why there's a pile of them laying around.
And then I fight that little girl on the bridge up there. I include this fight just to show off what trainers are using. It has been a while.

5 Pokies.

Of course I use Fake Out, I have a collective 40 PP of it!

Of course I use Fake Out, I have a collective 40 PP of it!

Of course I use Fake Out, I have a collective 40 PP of it!

Good question. Which action does Queso execute?

I nab a handful of PP Ups too, but I'm always too paralyzed to use these before endgame. HOW WILL I KNOW ITS A MOVE I WILL KEEP FOREVER?

Welcome to Art Town.
Cheren smartened up and doesn't fight me. He instead gives me a Fist Plate, which is I think a 10% boost to Fighting-type attacks.

I give it to Sir Tacos since he's the only dude with a Fighting attack at the moment.

Another free healz friend. She's gonna be healing me during my forays down South, and then when I'm in the forest fighting off poisony, paralyzey bugs. I love these heal stations, simply because they're faster than Poke Centers.
The catch is you have to beat up her friends first.
In vanilla she rocks Psychic types, and that actually hasn't changed.

Yawn!

Munna poses me no threat so I just mash A until Bite takes.
Pro strat.

I enact a Bitey genocide.

THERE, NOW HEAL ME, FOR FREE, WHENEVER I WANT, HEAL WENCH!

Chapter 9 - Loose Ends
I passed a huge lake and neglected to fish. Here is my penance.

No encounter tables again, but I didn't find a big variety, and fishing requires too much attention for me to do it enough to find the low % Pokemon.

Lots of Corphish. Look at those arms. He's like a T-rex lobster.
And a poor man's Krabby. Hmph.

A classic.
And that was legitimately all I fished up. Bummer. I read that somewhere around here I can fish up Omanyte. I can fish a Pokemon out of the distant past.
So, I head back to Narcene and then blow past it to fight down in the southern half.

This ability is bitchin, but not useful. Most critical hits hobble Chili considerably, not to mention he's only got one physical, and it gets anti-STAB.

Seriously?!
I turn down this Fake Out. Gotta draw the line somewhere.

This is actually a good question. I've got no answer for Poison-types. I'm sorely in need of Ground attacks, maybe Psychic. Luckily, 12PM Tacos can brute-force his way through most encounters with a Fake Out and a Bite. Maybe a Howl for good luck.
And then I fight an Aron! I love Arons!

I hate Arons with Sturdy!
Some point around this time I am checking up Verde's move pool and realize that he evolves with a stone. A stone that I have had since before the first gym.

Could've bent Chili over my damn knee grumble grumble.

Oh a Houndour! I kinda want a Houndoom, even though I don't really need Fire or Dark...
I beat up that Shellos and catch him. Just in cases.

I christen him 12PM Burger.
And then this:

I catch him right away.

A classic name for a classic Pokemon.
I'm seriously considering dumping Chili for Nacho.
After this, I fight a few trainer battles up by the Challenge Rock and one of them pulls out this:

It kills the shit out of 12PM Tacos. How?
Well, check out his base stats!
HP - 80
ATK - 90
DEF - 92
SPA - 80
SDF - 105
SPD - 115
And vanilla?
52 (+28)
65 (+25)
55 (+27)
58 (+22)
62 (+43)
60 (+55)
WELP.
He's also Flying/Fighting type, which is why he beat the crap out of poor Sir Tacos.
To be fair, Farfetch'd is still a middling choice for either type, but shit, someone finally decided to do right by Farfetch'd.

Wild Taillows have Moxie, which gives them an attack boost after every kill, and they all carry a Wacan Berry, which ruins my evil cackles as I blast them with Flash.

The Blackbelt by Challenge Rock has good taste in oldies.

Scratch that, he's got bomb-ass taste in oldies! I hope I can catch me a Pinsir soon. I don't do Safari Zones.

This is less exciting. There are a lot of Pikablus hanging around. They've got good HP, but that's no problem I can just

.....and they pack Sap Sipper, which pretty much just makes them annoying to fight 1 or 2 times, until choosing Queso instead of Guac or Verde is muscle memory.

Oldies central! The Nido-royalty actually have impressive stats and decent movesets, so I catch this fella.

He's SweetChili, mostly for the color.

Bidoofs are kinda cool.

OH LOOK A HAPPY COUPLE RAAAGH DESTROYYYY

Also there are Croagunks. They intrigue me, but I didn't catch one.
I try to see if I can train in the forest, however...

Immovable plot wall.

Next time, I head to the Normal Gym!

Long update upcoming. Here's hoping I don't hit the post image limit. I did that once. It said, "Nope." and then wiped my post. Fun.
Chapter 10 - Getting to the Bottom of the Normal Gym (alt. title: Hubris)
I...I think N is hitting on me.

NAH.
He doesn't take rejection well.

Sap Sipper!

I switch out to Raichu and Flash dat Pikablu.

I need to find a sweet spot where I only take off about 51% of their health so the trainers don't throw potions.

Luckily, I'm in full control of this battle, and N is just delaying the inevitable.
And then he switches Marill out. I forgot AI can do that.
He switches in Eelektrik, so instead of my Flash connecting with Marill, it...

Ironically, Raichu also packs Lightningrod, and either the AI doesn't understand Lightningrod, or Eelektrik only had electric moves, because he kept doing this:

So Raichu punched him to death.
And then, because he pumped my Special Attack up 3-4 levels,

Raichu swept the rest of Team N, including that stupid Marill, who N dragged back out with a yellow chunk of health to get zapped for at least the sixth time this battle.

Or maybe it's not your friends.
Maybe you need to read Bulbapedia dude.
Stop shifting the blame onto others.

A legendary? What are you, ten?
Who still brings legendaries to a competitive battle?
Tacky.

Yeah but you can't get it unless you have a Gameshark.
Dude you need to read Bulbapedia too. Get out of this museum and go learn something.

Pre-gym team.
12PM Tacos has Revenge. Guac is sporting Low Sweep. Queso learned Feint. Those are my super effectives against Normal.
Let's do this.

The gimmick of the Normal Gym is annoying, especially when brute forcing through the Japanese version.
You beat up people and read books, two activities usually mutually exclusive.
This chap is explaining why he's so strong:

Okay bro I'll be on the lookout.

My formula for most battles consists of Fake Out, then a Bite or two. If the opponent doesn't hurt very much, I'll buff with Howl.
I don't use Revenge much, mostly because I don't need to.

I absolutely adore Lickitung, and I was giddy that he got an evolution.

I still handle him tidily.

Prepare for trouble!

While I'm singing the theme song to myself, Meowth hits me hard. Luckily, I had queued up a Revenge.
Revenge forces you to go second (I believe), and if you are damaged before you attack, it's attack power of 60 doubles to 120.
Obviously a prereq of this attack is that you can take a hit. It's also a solid choice for slow Pokemon who are going to be going last anyway.

It feels good to one-shot things with more tactical attacks like Revenge.
After I put down Swole Bookworm, the next challenger is some science lady who wants to battle me for science.

I used Low Sweep on this Togepi because the image of someone tripping a Togepi is hilarious to me. First off, he's got like an inch of ground clearance, but he's also an egg! Can you break his butt? What does he look like if you break off the shell?
Anyway. Science Lady didn't appreciate that.
She brings out a Smeargle. Things turn sour quickly.

This particular Smeargle has V Create. That's one of Victini's event-exclusive, signature moves.
It deals a base 180 Fire damage, has 95 accuracy, and drops the users Defense, Special Defense, and Speed after use. Smeargle used it twice and was faster than my guys both times anyway.
Not only that, but Smeargle is the beneficiary of some sweet new stats.
HP - 80
ATK - 105
DEF - 85
SPA - 120
SDF - 85
SPD - 118
55 (+25)
20 (+75)
35 (+50)
20 (+100)
45 (+40)
75 (+43)
Basically, he's now a more versatile version of Mew, because he has respectable stats and can learn god damn anything.

Oh and now this is fucking happening.

V Create LOL

Verde tells him to fuck right off.

At this point I'm terrified of what this Jigglypuff is capable of.

Verde is temporarily haunted by Primary Color Ghosts.
But he learns to harness their strength through the power of friendship.

Or maybe he just used Tri Attack.
The last fight, the girl asked, "Do you think you'll get past me if you beat me in a fight?"
To which I replied, "NAH."
To which she replied, "God damn it, nobody answers no to these questions, now fight me anyway."
I'm paraphrasing slightly.

I remember Audino from my Nuzlocke. Tons and tons of HP, solid defenses, middling attack.
However, high HP means productive Leech Seeds!

Verde! Use your Sit-Back-and-Watch-It-Perish-a-Slow-and-Fevered-Death attack!

Audino crumbled to dust and HOLY SHIT 1.8K EXP

Clefairys are fatter than I recall.

Bullshit. There no way something that rotund with such stubbly legs is going to be evading anything.
Shoulda stuck with Metronome.

Told you.

I don't keep Aipom around to learn what ludicrous new stat loudout he's rockin.
And with that, the entrance the leader's lair opens.
I hope she has a bathroom down there. It's gotta be awfully inconvient for this mechanism to be your damn door.

BRING IT.
Honestly, I've had a pretty easy time so far, save for that God-Tier Smeargle.

Five Pokemon.
I imagine they're all gonna have full teams of six soon.

First up, Vigoroth!
A good choice by the hacker, definitely. They're an interesting--

You dick! I was going to Fake you Out!
12PM Tacos uses Howl. Vigoroth uses Hone Claws. We're both buffed.
I throw up a Revenge, anticipating he's going to use Slash. I hope it doesn't Crit.

Everything went better than expected!
Next up is Cinccino.

It's faster than Sir Tacos. That was one Wake-Up Slap.
It's also faster than Queso, and puts him to sleep with Lovely Kiss.
I just wait the sleep out, because next turn Cinccino erases 50 HP with a Secret Power.

Luckily, Queso wakes right up. I paralyze Cinccino to slow his ass down.
And then I throw out a Feint, which will be super effective.

Oh good, I'll only need to use 5 more. I'm sure I can survive 5 straight turns of onslaught when he can deal 50 HP damage to me in one turn. That math checks ou--

Oh good it has a Shell Bell too.
I bring out Guac because he's speedy, and throw out a Low Sweep.

Does no damage, recovers with Shell Bell, its Lovely Kiss has 80% accuracy but never misses, I cry and self-harm.

Secret Power crushes him in one hit. It's a 70 Power physical attack that gets STAB, so that's a base of 105. Splendid.

Secret Power also has a good chance to paralyze. And remove over half of one of my Pokemon's health in one shot.

I can't hurt this damn thing.
Time to take off the kid's gloves. I was saving up Verde for later, but this is serious.

Awesome.

AWESOME.
A critical hit that also gets a paralysis proc.

hahahahahahahahahaha

...
Chapter 11 - The Basic Badge

Let's do this?

Fake Out. Howl. Bite.
Manageable damage.

Oh good.

Spectacular.

It doesn't matter because Cinccino's going first.

Okay, okay. Let's see this thing's stats.
HP - 85
ATK - 122
DEF - 95
SPA - 97
SDF - 105
SPD - 126
75 (+10)
95 (+27)
60 (+35)
65 (+32)
60 (+45)
115 (+9)
That's pretty incredibly fast. Hardy defenses, competent attack. And he's got a sleep inducer that never seems to miss.
Oh, and he's rocking Technician, which means Heart Stamp and Wake-Up Slap both end up with 90 attack power.
At this point I'm weighing my options to alter my team. I can't bring Rock-types thanks to Wake-Up slap. I can't bring Ghost-types thanks to Heart Stamp. I need to bring something speedy as hell to outspeed Lovely Kiss. Huh...

So I head back to the Day Care and grab BBQ. He's now level 20. Just about perfect!
I realize that Cinccino has a Psychic attack which will floor BBQ in the heartbeat, but I have a dastardly plan.
I head to the south of Narcene City to grind. Everyone, really. A couple levels matter sometimes when you need to outspeed a bad guy.

Ooh, my first shaking patch of grass! These have their own special encounter tables, but since it's hard enough to spot a shaking patch of grass, I won't be seeing many of those Pokemon.

Eh, kinda cool I suppose.

Suddenly, I want that Munchlax very badly.
Leftovers are a wonderful item to have in the late game, but to find them this early? Yes please.
Then I find a Makuhita with Leftovers!

Meet Steak and Enchilada. I don't forsee using them, but two Leftovers is gangsta.

Yum.

BBQ evolves.

...Is this real life? Is that a 90 power attack that never misses?
So now I need a Gengar.
How will I get a Gengar, you ask?

First this.

Then this.

Followed by this.
Now BBQ is speedy and kinda beefy.
Then I just grind everyone else, which is tough because they're 6-7 levels above the wild Pokemon already. Nothing noteworthy happens though.

Oh except this Torchic I guess.

Basil.
Because he's a cultured fighty bird. *ahem* Pugilist.

These are the levels I manage. One for everyone, a bunch for BBQ.
Now...

LET'S DO THIS SHIT
I didn't even screenshot the Vigoroth battle. He actually hit me with a Crit Slash.
Lenora sends out Cinccino, and I switch out 12PM Tacos in favor of BBQ.
Then, I switch back 12PM Tacos.

So that I can do this.
Cinccino uses Heart Stamp, which was meant for BBQ, but it doesn't affect Sir Tacos.
So then I switch BBQ back in.
Cinccino uses Wake-Up Slap, again, meant for Sir Tacos.
Then I get cute and try to use Hypnosis. It misses.

Lovely Kiss, however, does not. It never fucking misses.
So I stick to the plan.

I switch back to 12PM Tacos to tank a Heart Stamp, and then get a lucky Crit with my Fake Out.

Despite BBQ's nap, I'm doing comparatively well. I've neutered Cinccino's attack stat, sort of, now I just have to find a way to actually substantially damage him.
Remember, he's also got a Shell Bell. No damage I do is permanent.
Also, Jemima's got at least 2 Super/Hyper potions to blow.

That's 3 Intimidates.

He can't heal if he can't damage me.
Then, I do something really fucking stupid.
I queue up Revenge, and dare Cinccino to hit me.

....oh yeah, she has 3 more damn Pokemon.

Herdier's a chump! (Actually, they're rather solid offensively and defensively.)

I put it to sleep and pelt it with Clear Smog.

I briefly considering switching someone else in since I don't really need BBQ soaking up EXP he probably won't be using.

I then decide not to count my chickens before they hatch.

Oh neat, a Dunsparce. Definitely an overlooked, underused battler.

My Hypnosis misses. His Glare does not.

The next one does not miss.

I toss Guac in for that sweet, sweet EXP.
I of course throw out a Fake Out.

It does close to no damage. This surprises me.

Work Up. If he's got Defense, I'm gonna overpower it.

Glare.

He uses Bite, and because he's now faster than me, I'm prone to flinch.
By the way, that was one Bite.
Alright. Stats time. What am I up against?
HP - 105
ATK - 120
DEF - 135
SPA - 95
SDF - 94
SPD - 55
100 (+5)
70 (+50)
70 (+65)
65 (+30)
65 (+29)
45 (+10)
Well, compared to Cinccino these buffs are downright fair. But still, Giving him a huge attack stat and a Defense stat that rivals fucking Onix, I'm going to have some trouble.
I just attack with Guac on the offchance Dunsparce wastes a turn trying to Glare or something. He doesn't. No mercy.
So I bring out Queso.

First, I give him a taste of his own medicine.

Super effective... but I'm still going to have to hit him at least 5 more times.
Fuck that noise.

Flash hits hard enough, and lowers accuracy. I bank on Dunsparce losing turns to his Paralysis, and if he gets to move, hopefully he'll miss.
It does! Queso never gets hit.
I whittle him down.

Could've used one earlier, but hey.

I celebrated after taking down that Dunsparce. I thought he was the last one. This sight made me throw up in my mouth a little.

I paralyze Furret immediately, just in case he outspeeds me.

He uses Work Up. If he connects, it's going to hurt.

I employ the Dunsparce strategy, hoping he doesn't get the chance to roll me with a buffed attack.

That doesn't quite happen this time.
I just keep throwing Flashes at him anyway. Full on Kamikaze mode.

You can see how little damage these Flashes are doing by comparing this screenie to the previous one.

Once I'm confident, I Feint Furret right in the throat.

THAT'S RIGHT.

No. No I don't want to help you I have a headache.
Why don't you use your HACKED-ASS CINCCINO AND DO IT YOURSELF

Oh sure, thanks, send the fifteen year old girl on the dangerous, twisty forest path in pursuit of villains. You stay on the well-lit road.

Say hello to Nacho, who will be replacing Chili.
When I grabbed that Torchic, I took a look at the base stats for Charizard, Arcanine, Torchic, and Houndoom for shits.
In the order of HP | ATK | S.ATK | DEF | S.DEF | SPD, they go--
Charizard: 95 | 95 | 90 | 140 | 110 | 125
Blaziken: 88 | 146 | 93 | 141 | 104 | 97
Arcanine: 100 | 138 | 94 | 127 | 110 115
Houndoom: 85 | 113 | 73 | 144 | 108 | 116
While Charizard's the fastest, Blaziken is the most adept physical attacker, and Houndoom the special attacker, Arcanine leads the pack in HP, Defense, and Special Defense while still being speedy and packing a significant punch in both physical and special.
Some scientific shit went down.
So anyway, denizens of the forest are no longer relegated to bugs and grass types.
Not like you were expecting that.

I was so mad when I discovered it was just snakE.

Oh yeah us also this thing which you can't even get in the normal game without special event fuckery. I might trade it in for 12PM Tacos, but I'm not sure what it... does.

I name him Blackjack.
Also....

INFINITE EEVEES. I can probably make every evolution but Glaceon right now.
Man. I need a bigger team than 6. I want a small army.
(his name is Jacob because Ikiosho was jealous of Sean)

Also this. I caught it because I have a thing for ghost types.

Those are Garlic Doritos. I name her Garlic because it makes sense in my head OKAY

Have to start taking Flying Pokemon into consideration, since I'll be getting that HM soon.
I can do a lot worse than Murkrow.

Golden Peking Duck Doritos.
He's Peking.
...I'm sort of reaching at this point.

Finally, something I don't catch. The allure of lighting it ablaze is too much for

Leftovers makes me slightly unstoppable if I don't run into Water-types.

FIRST HITMONCHAN SIGHTING
Sadly, it's not wild.

Remember Hoppip and... uh... Jumpluff? Yeah me neither. TORCH IT NACHO

Oh yeah, Guac still has Thief so I steal a Fire Stone just in time to strategically learn Fire Fang.

Part of my earlier decision was, "I can have a Charizard in 14 levels, or an Arcanine NOW."
The choice was easy.

Team Plasma still use a lot of Electric folks.

Static!
Paralysis seems to proc way more often in this hack. It may just be confirmation bias, but I'm paralyzed often.

Oh right, that thing... I forgot about it while daydreaming about my army of Eeveelutions.

Yeah let me give you a sneak preview:

I'M GOING TO LIGHT MY POKEMON'S TEETH ON FIRE AND THEN RIP INTO YOUR FLESH TO SHREDS
(just kidding you're probably going to own the shit out of me)

Bitch that's the first badge. Old news.

After I beat her, I ran back and checked. Her name's not there. HM HOW INTERESTING

Finally out of that forest.

Wooow yeah so beautiful it kind reminds me of... somewhere...

Next time, I fight stuff.

WHERE'S THE NEXT UPDATE!?
#58
Posted 22 July 2012 - 06:19 PM
As for the update?
Chapter 14 - Fighting Inside Wasn't a Good Idea the First Time
Castelia City doesn't necessarily offer a whole lot in terms of battling and wild Pokemon. What it does offer is a free exit to the next area. Nobody forces you to get the badge before you go off and fight stronger enemies, which is nice.
But as I'll learn later, like the previous two gyms, Burgh's got a handful of levels on the available wild Pokemon.

I legit don't know if this is foreshadowing the Team Plasma appearance, or if it's Batman.
Anyway, I go here:

This office battles Pokemon.
I don't know how they make a profit and continue to stay in business.
But business is about to be very good.

I'm waiting for a game to retcon Doduo's ability to Fly.

Ice Shard isn't quite as useful as I had figured. I dropped Ice Fang in favor of Swift, because I didn't want two Ice attacks, but I miss it dearly.

That said, it's good enough for a couple birds.

Okay, I lied. It's not quite good enough for a couple birds.

I love that Flash makes Queso look like a mysteriously shadowed evildoer.

I still am not using Bulbasaur. Seeing this makes my resolve falter but momentarily.

He's got his business under control.

And I've got this business under control.

This is an okay item. It'll raise your Crit rate by one level. Like a permanent Dire Hit.
Focus Energy actually bumps it 2 levels.
So a Slash attack from a Rattata holding a Scope Lens, who's got a Focus Energy under his belt already, has a %50 chance to Crit.

Time for a promotion.

Murkrow did that damage in one attack. I mean, so did I, but my damage was super effective. That thing hits like an evil, flying truck.

Mawiles aren't categorically terrible in this game. He's now Steel/Dark, and got a charitable boost to every stat but Special Attack, which he wasn't necessarily using. Dark and Steel are primarily physical.

Of course, all this amounts to him barely surviving one Fire Fang, then taking another. Because Nacho is an Arcanine with Leftovers. Life isn't fair sometimes.

raaaaagh paralysis all the time
That Beedrill goes down like a chump, but they're actually pretty solid battlers in this game.
In a few chapters, you'll see the Champion Beedrill make me his bitch.

Hey no fair! This thing's basically a legendary. Have you been talking to N?
I still use Fire Fang, cos he's part bug.

Look at you Mr. Fancy seasoned gray matching vest and slacks McBrownshoe.

Like I said when I first encountered Geodude. I love Golem and Graveler.
They are big fuck-off rocks with appendages and faces.
But Rock/Ground is a horrible burden.
The rest of his team are Ground types.
Use your imagination.

Sure. Does that make me President if I win?

The Janitor rolls straight Poison-types. He's like what Koga would be were he not also a ninja.
Without psychic, bug, or ground, I don't actually have an answer for Poison-types. Not like a really need one when I have Verde.

As if Tri-Attack putting into critical wasn't enough.

I love the blank stare he's rockin' in his death throes.

I'm sorry, 12PM Tacos, for making you Bite a giant trash bag.
Although maybe you like that...

420 Fake Out & Bite every day

Jan Itor hands over one of the better items in the game. This makes catching up a new teammate a breeze.
So what's in other buildings?

Ooh. Put Mewtwo in the final cave and make sure everyone's Level 100 and all the big bad guys have Legendaries because that's fair and also fun I would love to have to grind up to Level 100 okay thanks

It's a Rock-type attack that has 100% accuracy, which is remarkable on its own. It also makes it bad times for birds and things that levitate.
Sadly, nobody on Team Eudora can learn it.

You can never tell when the hacker inserts his own new dialgoue. So natural.

To recap, Flash lowers accuracy, hits multiple enemies, has a large pool of Pokemon who can learn it from its former status as a useless HM reject, and it's also infinitely teachable.

Oh also I beat up a Vaporeon that Eddie Gordo uses.
My only gripe with Verde is that his ability is useless. Unless the opponent has Drizzle and is forced to activate Verde's Rain Dish.
---
Next time, I get a new teammate and check out the desert.
Also, there may be ludicrously strong Magikarp involved.

So after I saw that Murkrow, I decided to check the new stat loadout for Honchkrow, because hey, I have a Murkrow who came with a Dusk Stone, and I'm gonna need a Flyer at some point.

He's officially the strongest physical attacker that I have access to, I believe. And his special attack ain't bad either.
Oh and his health stat is the best as well.
I can work with those defense totals.

He's level 17 here.

For whatever reason, Lemonade is now Oran Juice. Hah. Puns.
Also, it heals 80HP, which makes it a much better healing item than Super Potions for the price. The downside is you have to buy them one at a time.

I like to throw parties on the 55th floor of office buildings! Wee look at those servers over there! That is probably less-than-ideal!

Meh. I never even look at genders.
The building across the street houses the Name Rater.
What does he think of Guac?!

Hey screw you.

NAH.

I have two badges and I have seen 222 unique Pokemon.
I love this hack.

Hold item that raises Defense and Special Defense of Pokemon who can still evolve.
Considering my predilection for evolving as soon as possible, this doesn't apply to most of my team. Honestly, traveling with unevolved Pokemon is a handicap.
I give it to Cool Ranch, but looking back, it hasn't helped much.

I have an itchy screenshot finger.
This is Route...4? It's a permanent sandstorm. If you have a Rock, Ground, or Steel-type, it's not so bad.
As it stands, I have none of these, so every battle is a little harrowing.
If this hack wanted to be an asshole, it would've made all the encounters and trainers immune.
Surprisingly, it didn't play the asshole card.

Evolution item, and it gives all attacks a chance to flinch opponents. Not bad.

I feel like it's going to reek of defeat, man.

Peking is learning a lot, what with all of his not doing anything at all.

4x weakness to Bullet Seed.
35 base damage, 52 with stab. 2x is 104, 4x is 208 per shot. Potential of five shots.
I want to learn Magical Leaf, but COME ON!
The next fisherman puts up more of a fight.

I am immediately nervous about this Magikarp, but I don't want to peek at its level-up movepool.

He's got Bounce. It's a Flying-type attack that is essentially Fly, but it's got a chance to paralyze.
Also fish can learn it.
I don't really know how strong a level 40 Magikarp is, but I get Guac the f out of there.

Okay, so... if we pretend Queso and Guac have similar physical defense, 13 damage at not very effective means 52 damage to Guac? Roughly? He would have survived the hit and succumbed to the sandstorm.
Queso Thunder Fangs the Magikarp, who then uses Bounce again.

Grumble!

Another Bounce! It's really hard to time my attacks to actually hit when my Speed is oscillating thanks to Paralysis.
Next up?

Feebas is fast.
But I'm tired of Bounce and I just tank the hit.

guh
Bullet Seed makes quick work of him.

He's out of high level gimmicks.

Verde puts it in pain.

Verde crushes things. Once I can drop Cut in Favor of Magical Leaf, he'll be even more unstoppable.
If I had known there wouldn't be any more cuttable trees beyond the two around the first town, I would've just used an HM slave.

All the hidden items are still there, no changes. Kind of a bummer.
I always wished the hidden items would be better and more game breaking as a reward for taking the time.

The desert actually has two free healers. I abuse them copiously.
Wild encounters?

Shedinja hits as hard as Honchkrow.
Ninjask has 210 speed. In vanilla, the fastest is Speed Deoxys with 180, and the fastest non legendary is Ninjask, with 160.

FISHIN.

Starmie is actually kind of modest in this hack.

More Shellder. This might be the first repeat encounter from area to area.

I like the idea of Corsola, but even with the stat buffs of the hack, it's not really doable.
At some point, I decide that I should probably take on the Gym before I do too much in the area the follows it. I still feel that each area is discrete and that training beyond the current one is cheating.
Even though the game is actively being a jerk to me.
I dunno.
Pokehonor.

Great, I'm going to right now. How was it? I just want levels really.
Cheren leaves. Jerk.

Honestly, I'm just here to wipe out and see how much more I have to grind.
He answers to the effect of "TOO BAD." And tells me Team Plasma have stolen someone's Pokemon.

Grumble. Plot. Couldn't he have hacked the plot out?

It was yours?! Man up, Bianca!
....you don't even have a Munna! You and Cheren both use Ralts like big fat copycats.
Prediction:

They wouldn't be that dumb dude.

Next time, this game is dumb.
