Anyways, few things that everyone should probably know;
First off, I'd like everyone to go into their Kinship panel and add their LA username as their player note. That way, anyone online can see who's who in the kinship. To do this, press "O" in-game and select Kinship. Down at the bottom will be a button that says "Note." In the pop-up just add your LA username. To view the LA usernames, you'd go to the kinship panel and click on the arrow next to "Location" to cycle to Note, date added, and back to location.
Now that you've joined the Kinship, how do you chat to everyone else in game?
To do that you simply click in the chat-box or press Enter, then type /k and hit space to switch to your Kinship's chat channel. If you join a fellowship, the process is similar, only now you type /f instead. The game will remember the last output channel you selected so if you sent a fellowship message you wouldn't have to retype /f everytime to continue sending messages to your fellowship, but if you send a message to the kiship using /k and wish to communicate with your fellowship once more, you would then have to retype /f.
Now, as a kinship we're allied with another kinship called Justified.
They're a bunch of cool folks and are friendly and helpful should none of us be around (you you just don't want to talk to us) and are always up for a quest or a skirmish.
Now, how do you get in contact with these folks? Well, I've set up a private chat channel for members of both kinships. To join the chat channel you type /joinchannel lajustified in the chat box. To respond out to this channel is a process similar to that above except now you'll type in /1. It might be a good idea to set up another chat tab for all the social stuff like the alliance channel, kinships, and fellowships so you're not jumping around. To set up a new tab, right click on one of the already available tabs and select create new tab. Afterwards you might wish to rename it; to do so, right click on the new tab and select rename tab. Once you have the new tab, right click on it and select Chat filters. Idealy you'll want at least Kinship, Fellowship, User Channel 1, and possibly raid, but I don't think any one of us is that far yet. I also have a few others like Advancement, quest, and standard, so customize it to your liking.
Now you'll be able to see all the mesages posted by others in the same channel. Unfortunately you can't see who is online (only how many people are in the room as of your logging in), so its good practice to say hello when you log on and to respond in kind when someone else logs on, that way we can get a good idea of who's online. This system is good to find people around your level that you may wish to go questing with, search for someone of a certain profession to process materials or craft something for you, trade items, form a skirmish party, or just shoot the shit with. Those of you who have played MMOs before know that you really get a lot more out of the experience when you're communicative and involved with other people. For those of you that haven't played too many, both kinships, LA and Justified are filled with people willing to help out and make the game more enjoyable for everyone. See you guys online!
[NOTE: If someone wants to be in charge of maintaining our kinship page seen above, let me know]

Selena: Lenabot - Captain - Armsman (Weaponsmith, Woodworker, Prospector)
Laz: Lazucas - Hunter - Armsman (Weaponsmith, Woodworker, Prospector)
Laz: Pelazu - Lore master - Tinker (Jeweler, Cook, Prospector)
Darklink_14: Diel - Champion - Historian (Scholar, Weaponsmith, Farmer)
Snowsni: Laerloth - Minstrel - Historian (Scholar, Weaponsmith, Farmer)
Vet: Tungsten - Defender - Armourer (Tailor, Metalsmith, Prospector)
BurgundyTears: Natsuki - Hunter - Explorer (Tailor, Forester, Prospector)
Steel Samurai: Varagorn - Hunter - Explorer (Tailor, Forester, Prospector)
Twinrova: Rova - Hunter - ???
Rangasm: Rachmaninoff - Burglar - ???
And this is a list of all Vocations with their respective professions:
Armourer: Metalsmith • Prospector • Tailor
Armsman: Prospector • Weaponsmith • Woodworker
Explorer: Forester • Prospector • Tailor
Historian: Scholar • Farmer • Weaponsmith
Tinker: Cook • Jeweller • Prospector
Woodsman: Farmer • Forester • Woodworker
Yeoman: Cook • Farmer • Tailor
Thus far we have:
Prospector: 6
Weaponsmith: 4
Tailor: 3
Woodworker: 2
Scholar: 2
Farmer: 2
Forester: 2
Jeweler: 1
Cook: 1
Metalsmith: 1
The highlighted ones are the ones we've actually found a use for so we could use another Metalsmith and/or Forester. Only Armourers can do Metalsmithing but Explorers and Woodsmen can both do Forestry. I'd recommend Armourer. That way we get a Metalsmith and you can tailor yourself a Hamburglar suit.

The only thing I keep to myself right now is hides and flax, for tailoring. Everything else is fair game.
Speaking of which: DL and Snowsni, scholar items are breaking my bank. T_T

Aka: Going where I should not be going.
Part I: The Journey to Forochel
Gripped with dangerous curiosity, I can't help but wonder what the outlying areas of the map are like. I'm bored with Bree's landscape and I have no desire to set foot in the Shire again after being made to run so many errands. Always a fan of snow, I set out for the north early this evening. In order to get to Forochel, I must first pass through the region of Evendim.
Evendim is a dire place dominated by rolling hills and ruins. People live in the hollowed out remains of old cities. There are level 35 crows and strange walking mossy rock type creatures. There is a large white beach full of all sorts of creepy crawlers that make neeker-breekers look like crickets. I keep traveling north. I come across a giant statue of a king holding a sword by the river - easily as tall as a skyscraper. There is a non-lethal settlement to the northwest. I make my rounds and find a tall keep. I enter, thinking that it must be the local 'castle.' Unfortunately, the Forest Temple type music, state of disarray, and general feeling of haunted creepiness immediately tips me off. No good vibes to be felt. It is absolutely empty. I think it must be quest related, because it won't let me fully explore because I "do not have the quest."
I leave the haunted keep and press on. I see a grand castle on an island on the far side of the nearby lake. I can't get to it easily, and so I plan on visiting when I double back (never happens - keep reading). The entire landscape is soundtracked by lovely elven choirs, but there are no elves to be found. No much in the way of civilization.
I enter Forochel after some fancy riding on my chestnut steed. It is a long, snowy ride through a steep mountain pass. The location name under the map turns bright red. A box pops up. "YOU SHOULD NOT BE HERE, THE ENEMIES GREATLY OUTRANK YOU. TURN BACK. THEY WILL ATTACK SOONER." Pish-posh! I proceed along the mountain pass and see level 45 deer. Who now want to attack me. A buck charges. I run away.
I come to a settlement not far from the entrance of the region. The people of Forochel are not dwarves. They are not orcs, as the location names may indicate. They are.... cavemen. Eskimos. Something of that sort. They are dressed in animal skins and sit around big bonfires surrounded by mammoth tusks. Mammoths roam the area. People are ice skating. There are 'cars' with ice skates on them that people cruise around on.
Hey, a moose! =D
A level 45 moose that wants to EAT ME. D:
I escape. I ride and I ride until I come to a big crevasse in the middle of the land. I flee into it and keep going. Moose everywhere. Angry moose. Now there are also aurochs. Winter-themed sabertooth tigers. The ice canyon becomes an ice cave after reaching a section with a ceiling. The ice cave is very hard to see in. I start to see skulls put on pikes. Uh oh. I keep going. Then, I see it. It's a creature that resembles the monster (wampa, we learned) that nearly killed Luke Skywalker in Empire Strikes Back. There's a whole tribe of these things. Maybe just giant humans wearing white animal skins. Their faces were painted in red. They throw spears. I lose my horse. I run like hell. Finally able to summon my horse again after a long chase scene.
I press on. Find another friendly barbarian settlement. I discover a grand lake full of icebergs. The sky is graced with the lovely northern lights. I sit by the bonfire and recover.
I continue, but soon find myself surrounded by bloodthirsty moose, and they rip me limb from limb....
....and I find that I do not revive at a typical resurrection station, but IN THE TOWN OF BREE.

....and that was one part of my adventures. Next episode: To Rivendell and Enedwaith!

If you haven't already, try poking around the North Downs. Beatable enemies up there, I had to creep in on my way to Expert Metalworking and found gold. GOLD!
It's because I'm short isn't it? ISN'T IT?Vet, you make the barrows look huuuuge.

Let's go to Mount Doom! (Is it even programmed in?)
I've been practising my lute. I can play a fair rendition of Saria's Song. I don't think you can do sharps and flats... Or at least, I haven't worked out how. And I've been making the Men of Bree like me more.
Really annoying: The day after I got the riding skill, they reduced its price to a quarter of what it formerly was.

Laz: Rangasm is a Tinker.
I want to know why elves can get drunk (gameplay over lore), but night is so dark as to be nearly unplayable (lore/realism over gameplay).

So when are we going to get a guild house?
A guild house requires the guild to be active for a full 3 months before we even get the option of buying one. On top of that, a guild house costs around 16-17 Gold, which has to be paid by the Guild Leader (i.e. Me). Unfortunately as free players most of you can only carry up to 2 gold and cannot trade currency. By then I do hope to have my own house where I can accept items that I can sell toward the purchase of a guild house.
Here's the LotRO store Forum Site so you can keep an eye on the kinds of deals they offer and whatnot.
And Burgy, I wonder if the nighttime darkness could be fixed with brightness settings as opposed to being an actual in-game flaw since I have no problem seeing anything during the in-game night.
Also, Lena recruited our first non LA Kinship member, Caolebyrt, the other day. She could probably tell you a little more about him than I could, so be sure to say Hi if you see him around. That will also be why he won't have an LA name under his Kiship note.
And Mitch, could you write up a small tutorial on the music system, using ABC files, fatlute, and synced play? That way we can get more of these:
And finally, All Hail Me!![]()
