Edit: 23 hours 43 minutes 46 seconds remaining. I'm getting about 80-90 KBps speeds! Sweet!

I'm still plugging away at the linear quest which leads into several side-quests so I've yet to meet up with anyone.

But yeah, until I can figure out how to get past the launching screen I probably wont be making an appearance for a few days.
Don't overtake me Steel!

But if there is a "take you down with me in a dramatic, sacrificial leap" button, then you just watch it.

The game kept using up 100% of my CPU and hence dropping my connection at first, but changing the settings in the Troubleshooting section worked (the default is to use 100% of your CPU. My Wifi adapter isn't happy about other programmes using 100% of my CPU).
Oh, and I made a female elf minstrel. Called Laerloth. (Sindarin for Songflower.)

Wait, you can die from falling? Because when I was following DL around yesterday he was leaping like a lemming! Now I know he's putting me in danger.
So, I was trying to ninja my way into a camp of Orcs, when he eventually arrived out of nowhere and ran straight in. The dozen (no less) or so Orcs that were there all jumped right on him and followed after him, leaving me with an empty camp. XD

I will only play when he asks me to, just so you know. And he has to make sure I was already productive during the day.
I had heard it was a WoW clone, but less awesome, and I have to agree. Many of the key commands are even the same. Except so far, it's been in even easier-mode than WoW, with less interesting graphics (dear gods is the world washed out!). On the other hand, it has some elements that I think are quite nifty, such as the Deed system. I won't pay for anything in it, and I'm unlikely to play if Laz doesn't come ask me to, but it's alright for a freebie game.

...Is there a pushing option? Like, can you push people?
'Cuz I'm down with bullying mister Laz.![]()
Well, as it turns out, you can slap people. Like when Lenabelle slapped me. Cos she bought ANOTHER outfit and I mentioned how she looked like a milkmaid. Which she did.

But truth be told, I've had more fun with doing stupid things during periods where I've had to wait around than I have doing the actual game. Like slapping Laz and then getting into a real fight with him. And flirting with random elf chicks. Which is not a bad thing.
It's a like a group LA chat with mission objectives.

Obviously, I pay for WoW, but I've played a ton of MMOs in the past, both of the free and the paid variety. I'd rate LotRO somewhere around Mabinogi, so above Maple Story and FlyFF, and below Ragnarok Online and WoW.
Honestly, I think LotRO fills a very interesting niche: a WoW for people who have never played WoW and so don't know why people pay $15/month for it, and a WoW for WoW players in financial difficulties. Since it's a game-store model, the latter group would probably pay for the amenities they've become accustomed to, since a couple dollars "can't hurt" whereas $15/month whether that's how you pay or as a quarterly or yearly sub....
