Yikes, Showsni! How many taps did it take to get that perfect Dratini?

Hm, 1,050? Slightly less actually because I stopped to do 12 coin flips a few times and check I hadn't lost count.

Of course, the IVs have nothing to do with the taps; that just requires changing your DS's date/time and flipping the journal back and forth.

I'm sure you'd look crazy trying to apply it in "real life." Okay, I want my baby to be the strongest ever! I'll fiddle with my watch for half an hour, then read the last page of my diary thirty times.

But Got in Himmel, 1000 taps? I'm not crazy enough to do that! When I'm making Lapras for this league, if there isn't a 250 or less tappable shiny on the RNG list, I reset until there is one.

Well, that was the first one with a good nature. My Dragonair was Japanese, so that cut the taps needed by a quarter!

My cold snap killed the Dinosaurs (apparently) but it could not kill our new member, Moriatti.

Moriatti is the second member of the Legends Alliance Pokemon League to win the Frost Badge!

An excellent victory!

In addition to the badge and your shiny Lapras you can now use SMUG outside of battle.

I made a mistake by not using Fake Out on Weavile's first turn with Snorlax, but I don't think it would've made a difference. I could only win our stall war with 2 critical hits out of 3 turns and that's never a good position to be in. Great battle!

Far too close for a One Type match, Veteran, I'm glad Snorlax is as good a poke as he is.

Also, I concede defeat to your OTT, Gobby, THIS TIME! But I'll be back! :P

Finally, can anyone explain to this n00b what tapping is and how I can farm shinies efficiently? Or IVs? Or where I can find such?

You need to have caught a legit, non-radar shiny in your game first to be able to hatch shinies.

Or somewhere from 4 to 8 Pokéradared shinies; which is possible if you put a bit of time into it.

Agh, Battle Tower frustrates me. Critical hitted my Lucario to death, then critical hitted my Slowbro and flinched it the turn it would have Slack Offed health back.

I love Slack Off Slowbro!

But yeah, Battle Tower does seem frustrating, trying to decide if I want to EV and IV grind first or Take the Tycoon on and grab items to make it easier...

Ok i am trying to fully understand EV training. Do you only train 2 stats like Attk and Speed or do you train all of them. I dont really understand the process yet. Its a little confusing but i think with a little more explanation and me trying it i will be fine.

A pokemon can only have 510 EVs overall. Each individual stat can only have 255 EVs. Since 4 EVs = 1 stat point, 252 EVs is the maximum you can invest in any one stat.

Therefore it's impossible to max out more than 2 stats.

You distribute EVs depending on what you need. For example I have a Garchomp for the Battle Tower and his EV spread is 160 HP / 252 Attack / 96 Speed. Since it uses a Choice Scarf it doesn't need as many points in the speed stat.

*got the spread for this Garchomp from smogon.org

See it all sounds so much better with numbers lol ... so say i EV train and i only get to lvl 60 or something. If i go train on something stronger to get to lvl 100 my EVs wont change correct? And i think you see the EVs when you look at the pokemon skills under summary correct?

As soon as a Pokemon has 510 EVs it doesn't gain any more and never loses them unless you use certain berries on it. Also Pokemon at level 100 can't gain any EVs since they can no longer gain experience.

The EV totals are hidden. If a pokemon has 510 EVs then it'll be given a ribbon from someone in Sunyshore City. When training it's best to track EVs gained from battling with the counter Poketch app.

I find there's no real reason to raise a Pokemon up to 100 since wifi automatically adjusts the levels when battling. It's also worth noting that if you do train up to 100, you can never change the EV spread of that Pokemon.

PM me and Vet about it. One of us will get in contact with you tomorrow and set up a Gym leader test on your team. The goal is to make it challenging, but not unnattainable.

I'll be willing to take anyone on. I have yet to EV/IV train my mons, but they're pretty tough regardless. Friend code is in the sig. Tsume specifically, I'll call you out. If you can't beat me, you're not ready for the Gym Leaders.

I'm the world's best dragon master. I can hold my own against even the POKEMON LEAGUE's ELITE FOUR. Do you still want to take me on? ...Fine. Let's do it! As a trainer, I will use my full power against my opponent!

That is, I'm stepping up as a gym leader specialising in the Dragon type! If you beat me, you can win a shiny Dratini!
