I seriously doubted we were going to get this game by the holidays much less in a couple of months. Kudos Nintendo!

I'm already seeing a lot of complainers that there's no multiplayer/online on it. To them I say, Get the hell over it. If MP3 did have multiplayer you'd all be bitching about how much it sucked (cause it ain't Halo) and how it was "tacked on". Metroid, with the exception of the nicely done Hunters, has never been about multiplayer anyway.

So yeah, I'm pretty excited by this. I can't wait to get my hands on this game, and then start my usual ranting about how easy it was, probably pissing off Fyxe in the process...

Yeah, well, I'm still seriously doubting it.

"Europe? What's that?"

*Sigh* If there is ever any good modding for the Wii...

probably pissing off Fyxe in the process...

What doesn't do that?

Hey guys.

Shut the fuck up.

I am not a goddamn pinata.

Most of the time, I don't get pissed off with anybody. You just think I do because you don't consider the concept that someone might disagree with you.

This is an exception though. I am genuinely pissed off. Shut the hell up and take it to PMs and have the guts to say things to my face if you want to throw around snide remarks about me like I'm some kind of oh so fucking hilarious in-joke.

And you know what, you are not a goddamn victim either.

What, you can't handle a joke? Too bad, I don't care. Perhaps I will once you start accepting other people's opinions. Until then I don't think you have anything to say about people not treating you nicely.

What makes you think I can't accept other people's opinions? Just because I disagree with YOU so much doesn't mean I don't agree with anyone. Ever thought that YOU might be the problem?

And what the fuck has that got to do with treating anyone nicely? I treat people with courtesy and I don't make idiotic 'jokes' about them. Yeah, joke, whatever, you really sound like you're totally kidding around and not like you have some kind of problem with me whatsoever. Of course not, anyone could see you have absolutely no grievance with me and your comment was pure comedy and not inspired by any form of annoyance or malice.

I never said I was a victim, I said shut the fuck up. This is not the time or place for any of your idiotic comments. Want to keep having a rant at me? How about using PMs, mm?

Darthsauron thought you would complain about his sentiment that MP3 might be too easy, which is, in fact his opinion. You are quite general in these statements, too. "TP is a better game than OoT, everyone who thinks otherwise is a moron, jada jada, etc etc." So, if you call me a moron or I’m wrong or whatever, what makes you think I can't do the same to you?

And what the fuck has that got to do with treating anyone nicely? I treat people with courtesy and I don't make idiotic 'jokes' about them. Yeah, joke, whatever, you really sound like you're totally kidding around and not like you have some kind of problem with me whatsoever. You do realize you are only affirming my remark, aren't you?

Yes, it was a joke. If you said something similar about me, I wouldn't deny it. I can be an ass if I want to. And as for you, you've got a bad temper. Live with it.

I never said I was a victim, I said shut the fuck up.

You did not too long ago, and you sure are acting like it, if that rant about my apparent malice towards you is any indication. Yes, I'm out to get you. Watch out.

This is not the time or place for any of your idiotic comments. Want to keep having a rant at me? How about using PMs, mm?

Whoops. That part wasn't there when I posted. Too late now, I'll leave it as is. I think I had reason to post this publicly, anyway. You can engage in that PM-activity if you wish.

"TP is a better game than OoT, everyone who thinks otherwise is a moron, jada jada, etc etc."

I've never said this, and even if I said something like it, it's not a direct or indirect insult to anybody, it's just general ranting. You should know the difference.

I can be an ass if I want to.

Except you can't.

Rule 1. Be nice! This is a friendly forum and we expect you to fit in. Do not directly or indirectly insult other members, this extends to new members as well as old.

And as for you, you've got bad temper. Live with it.

Um, I do, I am fully aware that I can get annoyed if someone annoys me. I think you're the one who's having difficulty with it.

Blah blah blah.

Enough now, it's pathetic. Stop being so dang childish and stop breaking Rule 1, please.

Concerning the Online issue, it's not a problem with me. Metroid never really relied on online for it to be a sucessfull franchise, the series were always known for their quality in SP mode.

You want to fight? Fyxe already said it, take it to PM. Both of you. That, or if you have nothing nice to say, not saying anything at all is always an acceptable approach. Do NOT start wearing for each other to "shut the f-up". Do NOT think that you can "be an ass if you want to". Anyone who fights on the forums, whether they started it or not, the thread will not only be closed, but one or both parties may be eligible for a free flight to Suspension Islands.

Anyway.

Holy crap, August? That is a suprise. o_o Although I would like a multiplayer mode, I'm just happy to see the game finally coming to consoles, and it is the one-player mode that has always been the epic part of the game series anyway.
Eee, now I'm excited...

I didn't enjoy Hunters too much. I'm not looking forward to this game too much, not as much as other people may think. But it seems interesting, it will probably go well with the remote. Maybe.

Hunters was great for multiplayer but the single player was limited and somewhat samey at times. It was good, and really pushed the DS, but it's not a patch on the other Prime games.

Hunters wasn't made by Retro Studios though, while MP3 is, much like the other MP games. And the other two games were brilliant. I have high hopes for this one.

The fact that they're not focusing on multiplayer shows how it's more like the other games, rather than Hunters.

August isn't a surprise for me, but then I've known about the delays for ages and August is exactly what I expected. I thought this was old news, but maybe not. o.o

Yeah, I heard it was coming out August only day before yesterday. I missed it if the news had been out there for awhile now.

I never paid any attention to the fact that Hunters was not a Retro studious game.

I can understand the lack of multiplayer; using four Wiimotes on a split screen will cause a lot of problems.

But why no online play?

1) The split-screen Wiimote problem is non-existent here.
2) There are tons of weapons in the game.
3) There are different hunters to choose from (the other bounty hunters are in MP:3, right?).

Those three reasons alone are enough for Online play, so why wasn't it done?

Because Metroid Prime has always been about exploration, not shooting. They* went away from their exploration roots in Hunters which made the 1 player game much less enjoyable, for me at least. The multiplayer in Metroid Prime 2 felt very tacked on, and boring. Retro Studios probably figures it’s better to spend more time on the single player adventure game than trying to bother with a multiplayer one.

*Not Retro, I know, I know. I am aware.

Woooooooo

I actually used to be a hardcore Metroid Prime fan... to the point of beating Metroid Prime like 4-5 times on hard-mode. Heh, still working on my 99 health 5 missile run... damn Phazon Mine Pirates always beat the crap out of me.

Metroid Prime 2 was okayish, but I don't think it lived up to beat Metroid Prime 1. They tried to add a multiplayer, and kinda forgot about single player... so with a half-complete single AND multiplayer, neither of them really made it...

I'm actually really excited for Metroid Prime 3, but taking into consideration the disappointment Metroid Prime 2 was, I'm willing to wait more if it means a better game.

The thing that kept MP2 from surpassing MP in terms of gameplay were most of the Dark World sequences. It was neat that they made it more sci-fi with an 'acidic' atmosphere instead of it being some demonic, spiritual realm, but it still wasn't very pleasing to the eye. More importantly, of course, the damage effect it had on you was simply annoying after the first five minutes of it, and the game never did anything truly inventive with that mechanic. All it really did was limit your exploration. The worst thing about it though was the fact that you were basically going through the same area twice without much change to it and your tasks.

The game also had a few other annoying moments, like jumping off tracks with the Boost Ball, but the use of the Dark World was what ended up making it inferior to the original title. It sucks too, because everything else was fantastic, and, dare I say, better than Prime.

Since MP3 doesn't seem to have anything like that, I think we can except a gameplay experience much more like MP, and therefor something a lot less tedious and more enjoyable.

The Dark World didn't bother me that much. Okay...a little. Basically I think the light/dark world theme is kinda played out in games. What I didn't like was those damn Sky Temple Keys. Hunting for those keys was way too tedious and a completely unecessary drag on the final phase of the game.

However, as Mirren said, MP2 got a lot of stuff right. The Sanctuary Fortress was a much needed and very awesome change in scenery. The boss fights were all quite good, especially that robot (mini boss thingy) where you have to be in morphball form the entire time. And don't get me started on the Screw Attack.

I didn't think that the multiplayer detracted at all from the main game. Sure, the multiplayer was so-so, but it didn't feel like they had sacrificed anything from the main game to make it.

Dark Aether wasn't pleasing to the eye? I thought the effects used were fantastic and gorgeous. Yes, it was dark, but that was kind of the point... Besides, as already noted, the Sanctuary Fortress made up for the dinginess if you were tired of it by then. I also liked ducking in and out of the light regions, it added an element of strategy and the feeling of adversity.

And what was wrong with using the Boost Ball to jump off tracks? That was fun.

I also think that they didn't take anything from the single player to add the multiplayer. I don't think it took them a huge amount of time to add multiplayer - the gameplay is virtually identical to the normal game.

The Sky Temple Keys didn't bother me any more than the keys in the original Metroid Prime did. I think I found them quicker, too.

I personally think MP2 is pretty much equal to the original.

^ If this is the case, then we can only assume that MP3 will be better.

And I liked Dark Aether, too; I can't say I cared for the "lose health each minute you're not in a safe zone" part, it meant I had to wait until I had the Light Suit before I could really explore the place. But it did add to the challenge, and seeing all taht new scenery with the Light Suit in tow was fascinating.

Boost Balling off of Magnetic Rail System Tracks (that's what they're called, I checked)... if you ask me, that should've been in the first MP. Bomb jumps just don't get the same results as an overheating Morph Ball, people.

I do agree about the multiplayer in MP2, although getting four players still makes it really fun (I love spamming the Annihilator(sp?) Beam ^^).

I hated finding the Sky Temple Keys, mainly because trying to find the Flying Ing Caches was a pain in the neck. Well, not finding them, more like getting to them. That, and you need the Dark Visor to see them, which makes me want to say...

1. Metroid is a single player game. Multiplayer is pointless. If you want to kill each other in an FPS, you're playing the wrong game. Ditto for Co-Op, for the most part.

Because it's on the Wii.

Seriously. The console has such limited online capabilities that any online multiplayer would be lackluster at best.

You clearly know little to nothing about Mario Strikers Charged being online then (and apparently very well done).

Um... what? It has the same online capabilities as any of the other two consoles. In fact, it has a Web Browser, which the 360 doesn't, and wireless, which the less expensieve PS3 didn't at launch.

The only differences is the Wii has REALLY bland menus. Just becasue the only US release to use online play so far is Pokemon doesn't mean the Wii can't handle it. I believe EA is developing a new Medal of Honor for it now that will allow 32 players online.
