Shadow raised an eyebrow; Kitsune obviously didn't know of his occupation. "It happens to be an obligation of mine... I'm just doing my job." he said sinisterly, pulling out something from his tunic. It was a badge with the symbol of Uradiel and other special markings on it; this meant that he had a high rank in Uradiel. "I happen to know quite a bit about this place, and quite a bit about you. Kitsune, a half-demon with a magical sword, and Steel, a pirate of the fortress. I also know you're both wanted for stealing horses at a ranch back there; news travels fast around this market. So you'd better watch what you say."

"In the can? My." He pulled out his sword and held it up to Shadow, but Steel was still shaking his head. He decided to just put it back in his sheath, not to be like Shadow.

"Better idea. You have a badge. In your tunic? I don't want to know where it was..."

He turned to Steel.

"You own that tavern? You always fail to tell me things...and I'm still not talking to the herbalist. He looks like..." he trailed off and mumbled some words.

"This man can backtrack in time and re-say what he said! More in depth! In PINK." Kitsune said. Maybe he was just tired, or he was just feeling more demon than usual.

"By the way, some of that info is outdated. Maybe you should check again...my name is Kutsine, by the way. Not Kitsune."

Shadow didn't even flinch when Kitsune held his sword of light up to his neck; he was expecting it. Then he heard Kitsune's wise-crack about the badge. Shadow looked at Kitsune like the fool he was and replied, "I have pockets, you moron..." Then he heard Kitsune say about the grammar mix-up. "Huh?" Shadow looked at the wanted poster he found back at the ranch; Kitsune's name was mispelled. "Gah! Never expect anything from a farmer when it comes to good literature..." he spat, promptly ripping the wanted poster apart.

"Pockets. Tunic. Tunics have pockets?"

He just chuckled when he saw Shadow tear the poster in half.

Steel took the badge from Shadow Link and ran his fingers lightly across the surface. "I thought so. It's rather stupid to try to take advantage of my sightlessness and Kitsune's unfamiliarity with the area." He turned to Kitsune "This badge means that the bearer is a high level official. It's owner is in charge of 2 blocks of street sweepers. Do you see the crossed mops Kitsune?" The fox-demon nodded in assent. Steel tossed the badge back to Shadow Link. The old woman came back out from the back and handed Steel several small paper packets, who placed them in a wallet he had brought for the purpose. He paid for them and the potion, which he tossed to Kitsune, and then stepped out of the shop into the street. All of a sudden a rather large . . thing came running around the corner, it's dress billowing in the breeze. Was it a woman or a man? It would've been difficult to tell under the makeup, but Steel sensed that it was, in fact, a man.
"SHADOW LINK? SHADOW LINK?" The thing, apparently human, spotted him and ran over, enfolding him in its rather flabby arms. "Why did you run off? I went to sleep and you were right there next to me, and then I woke up and you were gone!"
Steel stifled what might, had it come from anyone else, been construed as a snigger, and walked off, motioning Kitsune to follow.

(Steel... did you even READ Shadow's profile? He really is high-ranking in the Alliance (no duh, he's my ALLIANCE character).)

"Not this flabby old geezer again!" Shadow thought in disdain. "Get off me you crabby old fool!" he said before slipping out of the man's grip and knocking him hard on the head and knocking him out. The shopkeeper returned with the medicine for his broken nose, which Shadow paid for (and extra for the man on the floor) and left. He noticed that Steel and Kitsune were gone. "Where'd they go?" he said, scratching his head.

He thumped out of the building in search of Kitsune and Steel before he heard several screams from the southern side of the town. "What the hell?"

Kitsune's hands were cupped around his mouth. He might as well start practicing fox trickery, and screamed some high pitched screams in a direction where the sound would bounce off a wall and sound like they came from a totally different direction.

Shadow decided to investigate, both out of curiousity and the fact that it was his job. He took out his Hookshot, a spring-loaded chain that let him climb or swing high distances, and used it to propel himself up to the rooftops. He quickly leapt from one roof top to another in the direction of the screams, which were still partly sounding.

Kitsune kept it up. Partly just to piss people off, and just for practice. He might as well try shape shifting techniques, but that would just be a waste, and might freak Steel out.

He heard a brick fall. There was a metal clank right before. Oh well. Then a thump, and a grunt. Like someone with a metallic object's weight was too much for a certain brick.

(Excuse me. The Badge is an NPC, and therefore I can do with it what I like)

"That does hurt my ears somewhat." Heightened senses were not without their downside. "Besides, it's only 6 o'clock in the morning." Steel paused at a main thoroughfare. "Tell me, what does that street sign say?"

He stopped screaming for a second, "What do you think? Sound womanly enough?" Then he paid attention the sign. It said:

"THOSE SWINGING FROM WALL TO WALL WITH WHATEVER OBJECT WILL BE FINED FOR WHATEVER DAMAGES MAY OCCUR AND IS CONSIDERED ILLEGAL."

(Okay, stop toying around with me. God.)

Shadow stopped; he couldn't hear the screaming anymore. A thought struck him. "Wait a minute... that was Kitsune's voice! That son of a--"

He was cut off upon hearing another group of screams. These were not done by Kitsune, or Steel. He also heard sounds like something being wrecked. This obviously wasn't a farce, so he went to look.

He stopped on a rooftop nearest the action. "Great, pirates. They've got guts to come here, I'll give them that..." Shadow muttered. He then noticed three of the pirates stumbling around comically. Shadow smacked his forehead. "Or maybe they're just drunk. Either way, they're causing a lot of trouble." One of the pirates moved over to a maiden who wasn't able to get away from the chaos in time; considering the pirate was drunk, there was no telling how this was going to end up.

And Shadow had no intention of waiting to see.

He jumped down from the rooftop, landing in between the maiden and the pirate, dealing a swift kick the the pirate's face. "Filthy pirates... what are you all doing here!?"

"You'd think for a public official he'd have more respect for the laws. I was talking about the other sign anyway. The one that says what street it is."

[Mystic Kitsune]

"Tavern Street" Come Sober. Leave Drunk

"I suppose you own this street too?" He said shaking his head.

"Do a lot of fights take place in this town?" He said getting annoyed at the sounds of the screams. Realizing that people don't scream for an hour or so...

Shadow looked around. A few more pirates had came since he'd been backing off in an effort to protect the woman. They were all really drunk, he could probably take them, but he didn't want the girl to get hurt. The pirates were arming themselves with their cutlasses. That wasn't good.

Shadow looked over his shoulder. "I'm gonna get us out of here; hang onto me!" The girl was in no position to complain, hopping on Shadow's back. The demonic swordsman reached into his tunic and pulled out a grey bomb, throwing it to the ground. It was a smoke bomb which he used to blind the pirates. He took that opportunity to run like the wind to find the girl a safe place to hide, preferably far away from the pirates. He dashed through tavern street, past Kitsune and Steel, and found a house where some people were hiding from the pirates.

Shadow set the girl down there and she ran in to join the others. He then ran off back down tavern street, past Steel and Kitsune again, towards the pirates.

Seeing Shadow run there with a woman who looked freaked as hell and coming back without anyone, in a hurry, put bad images into his head at what might have happened to the woman.

"No, I sold it a couple of years ago for 500% profit." Steel said, his expression deadly serious. He turned left and continued on for around 200 metres, then turned down an alley which broadened into a courtyard where several men dressed as pirates milled around, and an all-too-familiar purple haired male was kicking one of them. Apparently Shadow Link hadn't noticed the seats surrounding the courtyard, filled with theatre patrons who had, in fact, just paid quite a pretty penny to see an authentic rendition of the classic musical, "The Pirates of Pansance." Steel slipped into an empty seat in the back row.

"Sorry!" Shadow said, who had ran into the pirate cosplayer by accident. He left the stage and went running to where the real pirates were stirring up trouble.

"Oh. That whole screaming for an hour thing. Darn drama productions. They just love doing that sort of thing. Oh well. Always the woman screaming."

He shouldn't have said that out loud. Some girl in the audience sub consiously took that into account and started screaming for woman's rights. Two big men carried her out, but she kept complaining. So two big women carried her out and she was fine with it.

"I'll never get this city..."

Steel wondered which pirates Shadow was after. No matter. Likely they were simply having a "Pirate Party" which were all the rage these days. He remembered the information he'd received about the youth.

Kitsune, knowing Shadow, the way he acts, and such, worried for the woman that he had carried off. Well, she is missing, and the people on stage are confused. The manager is crying because he's losing his home due to the awkwardness of this play. His wife, kids, and everything. The actors are going to lose their job, their families will suffer too. All because of a simple misunderstood kidnapping by a supposed hero janitor.

"Steel, I suggest we follow where he carried that woman off. Her scent is vague, but still there."

[Steel Samurai]

"No, no. Normally I'd say you were right, but I believe this needs to go to the authorities. Come." Steel got up and walked out of the theatre. His business could wait in the interests of public safety.

Perseus hopped out of his bed and stretched.
My, he had slept late today, he wondered if he had missed anything exciting.

After a few preparations, he put his cloak (NPC©) on and stepped out of the inn with the intention of taking a look around town.

As he strolled along he heard some strange noises in the distance...

Steel and Kitsune ended up back at Tavern Road/Street where they were when Shadow ran by.

"So are we going to find the girl or just go straight to the authorities?"
