I'm all for that, but they have still been given nipples.

BTW, am I the only one who initially mistook MM's Goron elder for a Goron hag?

Oh and say, am I remembering things (and I probably am) or did Iza refer to her Zora partner at the canoe business as a she?
Yeah, I think you're right...
You know, you really can't tell reptile genders apart by looking at/listening to them, maybe its the same case with Gorons and Zoras.

HoL, Agahnim's images don't exactly look like the kind of hologram I'm talking about. His is a very clear, Tron reference, as is practically most of Twili magic. I mean, when I first saw it, I was beginning to think Link was in the Matrix or something like that.
Of course Zoras do. But we're discussing Gorons here.
If they are all hermafrodites, that would mean Darunia breastfed Link jr. and you'll hopefully agree that this is indeed a disturbing thought
Ah, yes, but seeing as Gorons live on rock and it seems a bit strange having "rock milk", perhaps Gorons feed their babies by regurgitation? Which kinda doesn't explain the presence of Goron nipples.
No, you're not.

Except, you could tell with Ruto, Laruto and what's her name... the Indigo-Go-Go Band Member that looks exactly like Ruto. Unless... breasts are only an attribute of special Zora destined to become Sages or Royalty, but that's silly... Or is it?
Even regular milk contains lots of calcium... so that could make lots of sense.

Unless... breasts are only an attribute of special Zora destined to become Sages or Royalty, but that's silly... Or is it?
Actually, if one thinks about it, there is a way to make sense of royal Zoras being more endowed in that area. Royals are infamous for sitting all day and having other people do everything for them, right? (See young Ruto carried around by young Link). Well, swimming flattens breast I'm told. So Ruto having the figure she has could mean two things: 1 she is naturally (and uncommonly for her race) well endowed and 2 she's spoiled/lazy and swims approximately 30% of the time your average Zora does.

BTW, am I the only one who initially mistook MM's Goron elder for a Goron hag?
No, I thought that too.

I think Iza's apprentice is female. Why are there three different kinds of Zora? There are general Zoras, hammerheads like Ruto and Lulu and fat ones like King Zora XVI.

Perhaps Goron babies form from elder ones and drop off, asexually. Why the nipples? Maybe they were originally a human race that was changed into lving rocks by a goddess or something...

No, I thought that too.

It is strange, but in TP, they look more uniform. Because that's why they die off? Inbreeding? Naw, that can't be it... Although, they do seem to have been confined to a limited space.

What? If anything they cover more ground than before. Zora's Domain, the waterfall, down the river and Lake Hylia. And who says they die off? In the Oracle games we see them in the ocean. It's probably pretty rare for Ocean Zoras to be found in rivers anyway. In games where you don't see Ocean Zoras in the rivers, you *do* see River Zoras. They probably just took over the territory.

As for Zora genders, I've always thought it's fairly clear. In OoT and MM, Ruto (and her counterpart) are the only females (that we see), I believe. The females do look distinctly female.

In TP, there appear to be more female Zoras, but I think we can assume that the ones wearing armour are male, and ones not wearing armour are intended to be female, I think.

There's obviously a difference between male and female Zoras, as they are regularly referred to as males or females, and the females do seem to have rather notable breasts. Heck, look at at Ruto.

Squeezies. They also appear to have more human-like eyes.

As for Gorons, although the majority seem to be male (always referring to each other as 'brother'), there might be female Gorons. But there doesn't seem to be any that are referred to as female, as far as I know. It's possible, as they are made of rock, that they reproduce asexually.

Here's a question. Can Ocean Zoras mate with River Zoras? After all, Gerudos mate with Hylians.

They also appear to have more human-like eyes.
I think that (and maybe the "manta-head"?) was a trait of the royal family (in OoT it's just Ruto and King Zora who do).
...but by TP they all have human eyes. Does that suggest Ruto is really a total slut?

And for the records, I don't think fat Zoras count as a separate type
Gerudos mate with Hylians.
They can copulate, but can they reproduce? We are not certain of that (I think they can, but that they need for a good number of the newborns to be from their King, lest they cease to be a separate race over time)
Well, if you want, Fyxe, we can discuss why Hyrule's Royal Family is so antisocial by the time of Twilight Princess. I mean, look at where the Throne Room is. It's not as if it's in a friendly position for visiting dignitaries, is it? Then there's also the issue of why on Earth is Princess Zelda still a Princess, when there seems to be no evidence that there's a King or Queen on the throne?

Or we could discuss the fact that in TP

Spoiler : click to show/hide
When you can transform into a wolf at will, Midna doesn't allow you to do it where people can see you. Yet she allows you to transform near the edge of the Spirit Spring in Kakariko. The problem being? Malo can clearly see the entire Spirit Spring from where he is and can even see Link clearly.

To be nitpicky, thats Talo on lookout, not Malo... (I'm smart! I bought it at Malo Mart!)

From a gameplay point of view, obviously the spring needed to be a "safe" point for Link to change as that's where he teleports in, and it would be a real pain if EVERYONE ran away once you warped in...

Perhaps Talo needs his eyes tested? ;)

I wish you didnt have to transform into a Wolf to warp though!

Ah, yes, but from a gameplay point of view, they could have shifted the Sanctuary to the right, thus obscuring the spring from Talo's view. Still, it's rather nitpicky, unlike the issue of Zelda's Throne Room, which is clearly not in a dignitary-friendly position.

I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that in some of the first released versions of TP Midna won't let you transform right when you're in Kakariko's spring. I might be mistaken though. My guess is that they fixed that just because it would be annoying otherwise. Just pretend Talo was looking the other way or something. :P

And the reason Link needs to transform before he teleports is because otherwise people would freak out if he teleported anywhere. Making him be a wolf restricts who sees him teleporting. I mean...ok, imagine you see this guy on the street suddenly turn black, seperate into huge pixels and float away. I'd be kind of freaked out. From a plot point of view, it's clear Midna can teleport Link in human form (see the dungeons), she just doesn't because it would scare the commoners.

I can't comment on Zelda's throne room, because I have only seen it briefly in a cutscene so far, I believe.

However, I will say that if they shifted the Sanctuary to the right, it would obscure the player's view of the entire town, and wouldn't make much sense from a design standpoint. As for Talo, who says he can see Link clearly? Have you seen how far away the spring is from where he is? It's remarkable that he sees Link from the range that he *does* spot him from.

Yeah, also dont forget how impressed the kids were when Link was able to hit the pole on top of the Lookout from the Malo Mart; they obviously didnt think he'd be able to pull it off! So Talo probably wouldnt be able to see that far...

Good point! Dear knows what the residents of Termina thought when Link got wrapped up in giant wings and teleported away in a bunch of feathers! Heh heh, guess the same is true for OoT warping too!

Oh and Fyxe, in response to your comment regarding mine of how the Zora die off... I remember someone saying here that Laruto (TWW Sage) was said to be the last of the Zora or something like that.

Also, I've been checking. The bodies of the Zora with the helmets on are completely indistinguishable from those of the other Zoras. I may have to check out Iza's assistant to see if she's got any distinguishing features that make her different from the other Zoras, but as far as I can tell, there's nothing to distinguish male from female in TP.

I'm unsure if it's ever said in-game if the Zoras died out/evolved into the Rito, but it's been suggested in a few places. I don't think it's a definite thing, however. And it would mean no Zoras could exist after TWW.

That would be depressing. Zoras are sexy.

Says you...

What I don't get is why the TP-era Hyrule Family would allow the Zora Royal Familiy to co-exist in the same province as them. Judging from the way the Hyrule Family has put their Throne Room in the most antisocial position imaginable, it doesn't seem as if they're very friendly to visiting dignitaries of any kind.

It is never EXPLICITLY said, but it is sort of evident, since the only Zora you see died about centuries before.

Nothing's wrong with a random Zora, but my earlier response was simply ment in a humorous fashion - I didn't really care that King Zora was the only option you could come up with, I was just playing along with your earlier 'uhm, er' thinking about it type comment (which was why I had the exagerated 'uhm, err...' type comments myself). The 'no duh' response was also ment as a humorous jibe, since you seemed to take my previous light hearted comment as if it was perfectly straight faced.

So in other words: 'It's called a joke, Fyxe. ¬.¬' :P

(and this post isn't ment to be anything serious either, but trying to explain a joke is always the worst thing you can possibly do :D )

Wheee, we can keep this up all day :D

In any case, I used similar humorous elements that you did in your joke in my first reply. Maybe instead of a 'joke', I should have simply described my original post as 'tounge in cheek' or 'lighthearted' - In any case, your 'it's called a joke, coinilius' reply was all so serious and deadpan to what was just a silly reply to a joking concept, unless you were being equally tounge in cheek with that post, it struck me as very funny that you were taking it all so seriously ;)
