Well, Nintendo has been talking about making their own animation studio, so I wouldn't be surprised if they made a Zelda anime. (Hopefully aimed at people in the teens demographic.)

When you say teens, do you mean American or Japanese standards? I just think it might be bordering on too 'un-Zelda' if a PG-13 anime of it was released. Then again, I'm also a harsh skeptic on the upcoming GameCube game.

I was shaking and freaking out when i saw the new zelda video clip. (cuz it doesnt look very anime, the graphics are awesome and the goblins on wolves thing looks like lotr style)..

Has anyone here seen House of Flying Daggers? That format would be amazing in my opinion, no 'faff' and frills, just our core characters with awe inspiring fighting. At most i'd have malon and maybe a sage or two, but no more, but also having our 'armies' of unamed characters. Unless its Peter Jackson doing LOTR you don't have time to introduce new races, i'd rather just have a good story. Also i always thought of a Zelda movie more like a Wesern than LOTR.
I'd do a couple of things in a strange way, just for me, such as keep Link like he is in MM, strong and agressive in a young body, and have him as a mute. My Zelda would be taken from the mold of Tetra from WW, calm, powerful and indipendent. And Ganondorf from OOT, but keep him as the 'king of theves' with his magic only hinted at.
Also, one of my favorite things about both MM and OOT was the ending where Link would save the world, but no one would know.

As far as I can tell it's branching too far out from what I prefer in a Zelda game, style-wise and looks-wise. I think, at least in this case, that there's a Zelda type of fantasy, and then there's a LotR type fantasy, and while both are great in their own ways, they shouldn't cross - it's like interspecies sex or something.
I'm not saying I only like the 2-D and cartoony games, either. I loved the way Link and Ganon looked in the fight-sequence Nintendo made to show off the GC's graphics.
But Link having his chainmail showing, etc? I could go play the Return of the King game for that.
I'm willing to try it because I was one of the few people that I knew who supported the Wind Waker style when it was first shown, and of course it ended up being a great game.
But again, this is for another day. :P

i see... you make a good point. i understand what you mean. i personally like chain mail and the little pockets and belts (kinda shows where he gets his smaller items from) however, i wish they had bags and travelling equipment on epona... so he doesnt pull bow and arrows and what not out of his butt. lol

Well, you'd certainly be doing things differently. One thing I don't like: You're missing the point that Link HAS to age in order to prove the point of the story. The theme was time. That and he is revealed to be Hylian then, and imagine a 10-YEAR OLD BOY slashing up an evil mastermind, it isn't right. And the poignant, powerful, images of seven years of harsh dictatorship, how Zelda feels and how it affects what she does after she learns her plan screwed up Hyrule...yeah. There's a lot of good resaons why you can't lop off the whole, "Link being big and bad after pulling a Rip Van Winkle for seven years."
It's very difficult to pull off a main character never speaking, especially in a Zelda storyline where we have evidence that he talks, even if we can't hear him. That and the audience has to care a lot about a character in order to care about a film, and it's hard to relate to a weirdly non-speaking character who is going through what he's going through. Quiet, yes. Silent? No.
And if you mean born mute? Uh-uh. That's also contradictory to Zelda.
And I'd love to have a young, bold, sort-of idealistic Zelda with big plans, and only a little idea of what she's doing at first, but then comes back and kicks @$$. I think that's completely true to Zelda spirit and always has been.

And where do I agree with you most? The ending. It HAS to end that way. That's what struck me about Zelda was the humble way it ended. Link, going to live at the castle, to resume the peaceful life he'd lost...
Of course, when he non-violently locks up Ganon ahead of time soonafter, he's swarmed for autographs, but it's not the same as being a warrior, doing what he actually did and all.

I tried to make a Zelda movie using my parents video camera and some old Zelda figures, but it turned into an erotic romance type-movie with Link and Impa falling in love, and Ganondorf being a homeless bum.

can't you all see that anime seems too silly of a style for a movie... just looking at the first few lines of the poll piss me off... we just need a really detailed american style cartoon... (like spawn or something... but not as dark, mature or gory and even more detailed,lol)

Well I myself would prefer a actor played film myself, but I'd much rather any other form of style of cartoon over anime as well.

Dittos. But please, HoH, let's not be graphic! Disney stylized animation would be fine. Or Prince of Egypt quality. But graphic? You must remember this is the story of a little boy and that this is a kid's game. Personally, I think an animated film would be great, but I'm tempted to think more an a live-action extravaganza.

Lol, didn't you notice that I said not gory or scary? I think that kind of violence is unnecessary. I love Prince of Egypt, lol. I just think a cartoon movie should be more realistic and detailed. I've never liked Disney... their kids films don't appeal to me at all. Live action could go wrong in so many ways though...
