Sometimes it's like people think Queen is the only rock band from Britain, except maybe The Beatles.

One of their more unique songs is Innuendo from 1991, but that's because it's a tribute to Led Zeppelin and features Steve Howe (from Yes) for an acoustic solo (because Brian May couldn't play it), and some of their songs from Highlander have a more metal like sound, but they still share elements from other Queen songs (Princes of the Universe begins with a Bohemian Rhapsody like choir), and still sound generic. Probably the reason they got so popular, along with Freddie's death in '91.

Queen did invent thrash metal, a genre popularised by Metallica, and someone once said that Bohemian Rhapsody is the best example of a progressive rock song ever made (I think a band like Genesis, Pink Floyd or Yes should have that kind of title).

Bohemian Rhapsody is not a good song, really. Technically, it's kinda crap. It's a gimmick. It's just different and goes all over the place. It doesn't make it the best prog rock song ever, just because it's *weird*. The thing is, everyone has their favourite bit of Bohemian Rhapsody, then they forget that they don't really like the other bits quite so much.

I conceed there will be some people who like every single second. But some people like 'Mommaaaah, I just killed a man' and some people like the 'Gallileo' bit, and others like 'thunderbolts and lightening'.

I like Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody. It's a really good song. I love the whole song. Yes, it is alittle weird but besides that, it's a good song to listen to every once in awhile.

It's not as weird as Close To The Edge by Yes, or as long (some people think Bohemian Rhapsody is a really long song).

Brilliant article on Matt Bellamy and Muse today in The Guardian, by the way. They have some crazy fans out there...

I think this is by a crazy Muse fan: http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Muse

I never thought he looked like Harry Potter. And I'd be the first to point out if someone looks like Harry bloody Potter.

...All the Muse fans I know are boys... Except one or two.

So, yeah, lots of jokes there not quite working. Thought it is true that Bellamy is a little loopy. But that's just him dancing that line between genius and madness.

I also found this on the same site:

"In 1928, Dream Theater performed for the first time an album they called Master of Puppets, later illegally downloaded by Metallica and recorded as a studio album. In response, Dream Theater released Train of Thought, to show that they were blatantly the creators of all of Metallica's riffs. Similar things happened with Tool and Muse."

Whaaaa. Your parents are weird. How old are you? I don't remember my parents ever censoring the music I listen to. Hell, one of the first bands I listened to lots was System of a Down.

Did everyone catch Muse on Wonathan Woss last night? Very good playing of Supermassive. It's repeated on Monday or something (or is it this weekend?) if anyone wants to see it.

Also, if anyone is unsure about buying the single on Monday, there's a preview of the B-side (which is always the point of a single) here...

http://www.7digital....6469&sid=409271

It's only a short 30 second clip so it's not that helpful but it should give you an idea.

Also, if nobody minds listening to the studio version of Knights of Cydonia before the album comes out... It's on their Myspace. Along with New Born if someone out there doesn't have access to Origin of Symmetry and wants to hear one of their biggest tracks.

http://www.myspace.com/muse

Myspace's quality isn't good, the mix on the treble and bass is quite off and it hurts the first part of Knights and makes New Born sound quite less oomphy. Like it's being played in a box. But still, it's better than nothing.

Meh. I'm 16. Dad doesn't really like me listening to stuff with depressing lyrics, and also would be kinda weirded out by the lack of coherent sense in most muse songs. Ah well.

Dude, you're 16, you're old enough to listen to whatever the hell you want.

Here's a quote from the sleeve of the Mindless Self Indulgence album...

All the censorship in the world won't make up for bad parenting. If your child is more influenced by our music than by Mommy & Daddy, both you and your offspring have much bigger problems than our lyrics.

Well said, I think. Also, lyrics are only depressing if that's what you make of them. Honestly, why the heck should lyrics make sense? It's music, for sod's sake. Do your parents never listen to music? Thousands upon thousands of songs have lyrics that can be percieved as 'depressing'. It's all down to the listener.

You're 16, you're not a child, you're old enough to make up your own mind.

Anyway, yes, you can listen to the songs on their website, although the quality is lame.

I don't think they're depressing... Some of their songs can be taken to sound depressing, after all, Absolution was about the end of the world. But I actually found most of the songs on Absolution quite uplifting.

Bloody Coldplay are more depressing, and nobody censors them. But they should. Cos they suck.

Bleh. They're just dreary. They depress me because they bore me. Coldplay, that is. Overrated. Like U2. And fucking Keane. Keane are rediculously horrible. They are the anti-Christ.

The main reason I'll probably see the Lake House is because the commercial has that overrated-but-still-cool Somewhere Only We Know song. :P

I hate Keane so much I have no idea what you're talking about.

But I really hate them. I stamp on the lead guy's podgy bloody face. Smarmy twonk. He can't sing and their songs both manage to be annoying and boring. RARGH.

I heard the first album by Keane. It was alright but, unlike the albums of bands I listen to, there are only a couple of listenable songs on it. After about two listens I stopped.

Coldplay are, from what someone told me, are a rip off of Radiohead's most poppy elements. I only heard a couple of songs by them, and they just sound like any other band from the genre. I did read somewhere that they did a like remake of Du Hast.

I hate Coldplay. I just dont like there songs. And I never heard of Keane....I probably have but probably dont like it.

There's too many songs to pick just one favourite.

Keane is like Coldplay, except no guitars.

Just a reminder to every Muse fan (and the rest of you deprived children) to get out there and buy Black Holes & Revelations tomorrow. You'd be forgiven for thinking I am a band promoter in diguise, but I am in fact just a crazed fan. But one who KNOWS GOOD MUSIC. So buy it if you appreciate music. And you all appreciate music, right? Right?

Also, Coldplay are over hyped rubbish.

You're missing out.

Seriously, this album is wonderful. I love it. It's different, but still Muse, so I adore it. It's something special, and I can't imagine becoming tired of it. It's just not an album you get tired of.

Also, Assassin is a crazy song. Muse go System of a Down for a moment. But not quite. It's just... Crazy. I love it.

If you listen to this album and don't enjoy it, you have no soul.

It is a good album, but I much prefer Starlight to Assassin.

You're right to say it's different though, it does feel different to other Muse albums, my brother says it's like 70's disco music. o.O

Love it though, great album. =)

I'm not allowed to spend any money because it's for when I go on holiday, but if I have any left over after holiday, I'll probably get it after I get replacements for the Dream Theater CDs I lost.
