Australian scientists are in the process of developing a television which responds to waves of the owner's hand, making remote controls useless. Professor Jeff Jones, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Australasian CRC for Interaction Design (ACID) explains the device, described as a TV mouse, provides a user-friendly alternative to complicated remote controls.
The device clips onto your hand to operate the TV with simple hand gestures and short-range wireless technology. The device sits on a charging station and you clip it onto the palm of your hand when you need to use it. This means you can switch channels while drinking a cup of coffee, reading a paper or talking on the phone without having to put anything down or hunt for the remote.
Specific gestures are still being developed but a palm-up or palm-down gesture could mean fast-forward and rewind, while hand-up could change the channel up and hand-down could change channels down. (ES/WNWCAAB/JB)
Does this mean the Rev. controller will be "from the past" in the future when it comes out?
